Forgot to add Bertholdt and Eren Kruger in the honorable mentions
Something I love about Reiner is the fact everyone looked up to him on paradis like an older brother, Eren even saying "how can I be like you?" that sort of thing. But when he went back to marley or in his titan form, he sucked. Although in the last battle he was slaying titans left and right💪
I absolutely agree with you. Truly a masterfully written character.
Yeah it’s a great inverse. He was looked down on in Marley by his peers and was terrible warrior by their standards, but on paradis he made a great soldier and was looked up to by his peers.
dude wtf you deserve more views for this level of high quality content
Thank you so much dude! ❤
Frrr, it’s better than most popular videos
I was a Levi fangirl before knowing who Zeke was. Zeke is amazing, he's now my favorite in regards of character design and background, I still love Levi but Zeke was written better imo, in the tragedy and philosophy of his past and present, his ideologies, his motivations, and the way he gives love to his brother who he barely knows actually. He's an empathetic good person and one of the kindest characters yet he still a brilliant badass antagonist!!
Ahh a Zeke enjoyer! Glad to see I'm not alone.
Ask Mike how he feels about being tortured by Zeke
well if he worked that one brain cell he would've dodged like floch@@JohnJohnson-zt3bv
My top 10 AOT characters:
10. Annie
9. Grisha
8. Erwin
7. Zeke
6. Historia
5. Armin
4. Levi
3. Mikasa
2. Reiner
1. Eren
Sidenote for some context: eren is my favorite character in all of fiction
I think Gabi needs an honorable mention.
She from the moment she was introduced was a cold-blooded killer in an innocent-looking girl's body. She used that image to fool the foreign army into letting her get close enough to the armoured tanks and destroy them. That image also made the scout lookout hesitate when shooting her, which she used to her advantage to shoot him instead and board the airship.
The whole full-circle moment she had with Kaya realizing she was Sasha's killer wasn't just dramatic, but heart-breaking. I might even say it was spirit-crushing. That scene brings tears to my eyes every time seeing Kaya cry.
Her ego was checked when she couldn't look Eren in the eyes after talking all that shit. She got an amazing redemption after saving Kaya from Nile's pure titan form and she's a badass sharp-shooter.
After finally seeing the humanity of the Eldians within the walls her world-view came crashing down and her ego-death changed the way she viewed the people of Paradise.
She was such a ruthless killer, but couldn't handle her emotions when Falco admitted his love for her and the scene in the final episode of them two planting the tree together was cute despite her grizzly murder streak.
She was only around for half-a-season, but contributed a lot to the show touching topics/charcters from seasons past before she was introduced. And in human-terms she was really dangerous and so alike Eren in many ways.
Personally, she was my favorite character.
Agreed! I am baffled she gets so much hate.
@@isabellaricchetti9791
It's because she gets the unfortunate reputation of killing a favorite main character.
Gabi Gang!
Fr i loved Gabi’s character growth and her story with Kaya
All my homies hate Gabi
I'd have to say Erwen was the most badass and deep. His tactician's mind was stunning. But when he lost his arm and he continued to lead the scouts' chaarge AND saved Eren from Reiner... That's when he really set himself above everyone else for me!
Potato Gurl is my runner up, though. She's so god damn funny! Her last exchange with Conny about who'd inherit the Attack Titan cracks me up every time!
'Huh?'
'...Huh?'
🤣
All of these characters are a 10/10. Every character of Aot portrayed their side best.
Nice video
We have pretty similar tastes
My top ten are Reiner, Armin, Erwin, Eren, Mikasa, Hange, Levi, Falco, Jean, and Annie
Something I like about Reiner's character is that he ended up fulfilling his original goals but in a different way than expected.
In the end, he got to feel his mother's love that he's desired all of his life, and it was him just being himself that caused it. He also ended up saving the world, but it wasn't how he thought he would originally.
Reiner's been my favorite for most of my time as an aot fan and I'm glad he's being appreciated
this is a very fair ranking honestly!
Best piece of media of history ❤
Will never escape my top 1 spot
Brilliant analysis of the characters, subbed!!
Thank you so much! More Attack on Titan analysis videos this week!
1. Levi (his cool factor is unmatched)
2. Armin
3. Reiner
4. Jean (most relatable character in the show)
5. Eren
6. Mikasa
7. Gabi
8. Grisha
9. Erwin
10. Floch
Great summary! Keep reviewing
Gabbys “we have to prove we’re some of the good ones” hit close to home. As an African American in America, we feel everyone’s hatred for us. It’s hard not to give in to self hatred and the need to distinguish ourselves so I loved seeing gabby already brainwashed and coming out of it
Reiner and Zeke were both such complex characters. I adored them both.
15:22 he had an underlying selfish reason too ("i wanted to see this sight"). The selfless reasons were just what he told himself to stay sane. He is similar to Erwin in that way, both were actually selfish.
But Erwin let go of his dream for the sake of humanity, whilst Eren tragically succumbed to his desire and doomed humanity.
The whole order of your list is really great, even though I disagree with some specific takes like this one. Good vid 👍
Thank you for this! Really changed my perspective
Eren literally said that he tried. to changed the outcome, that he couldn't do it
@@hedgehoge90 the reason he couldn't do it was his innate desire, an unconscious part of himself.
That's why he says "I don't know why, but I wanted to do it" --talking about seeing that sight.
@@loganshalloe5927yep the confession scene basically mirrors Breaking Bad and Walter White. They did it for themselves. Some of the Eren fans don’t understand this, glad you understand it and I also thought the same about Erwin until his final charge. Isayama mirrored these characters so well.
what a wonderful analysis! i’m impressed!
what a wonderful content ❤
Ok francis
This was an incredible video! Subscribed.
God I am so glad I discovered this analysis ranking video of my fav piece of media ever. The quality of your video is truly mesmerising. I hope algorithm help you with the time
Thank you so much man! I really am taking this youtube thing seriously and my love for this show is what made me start this journey. Hope you enjoy my videos in the future!
Great video and I really enjoyed your thought. Question though, where do you put Gabi? I believe she is one of the best characters in the show and a representation of what Marley does to their children.
Hello! Thank you so much! As to where I would put Gabi I think somewhere below Bertholdt. I do believe she was great when it comes to showing how fucked up these children are but I think she should have been punished more. I feel like she didn't really get to suffer for her actions and the group kinda just forgives her right away without showing realistic anger.
@@leaknetic that’s fair, thanks for sharing. :)
@@leakneticI disagree with you. Understanding the reality of the paradisians and knowing she killed so many people just to earn praise, that immense guilt is punishment enough for a 14 year old child.
Personally, Reiner is my favourite. Plot armour moments aside - his s1-2 moments in hindsight are some of the most well-written moments in the series and his development going into s4 seeing him going from a strong leader type to weak and trying to find meaning in life really resonated with me
King Floch is the Best Character in the entire AOT.
lol "King Floch" is not a character but he sounds silly.
Floch Forster however, is a very well written antagonist character :)
He is a meme at this point.
Still confuses me on how people like Mikasa she literally has no character but to simp for Eren
Erwin is definitely the greatest character of AOT for me
while you were teling i that you might cry that time i already had tears in my eyes
nicely edited video bro
"Eren did selfish things for selfless reasons" yeaaah that's only true up until the final episode where his true reasons were revealed.
I totally agree with everything you said. For me, Reiner is definitely the best character. This is the first time that a story made my least favorite character to become my favorite. I love all the characters' complexity, they feel like real people rather than fictional characters.
Great video bro
I can't believe Onyankopon is not on the list. Not even in the honorable mentions.
Onyankopon is a character from the anime series Attack on Titan. He is a skilled pilot and one of the Anti-Marleyan Volunteers working under Zeke Yeager. Onyankopon is a dark-skinned man with black hair styled in a short crew cut. He appears to be well-built, as seen by his large arms and shoulders. He wears a military uniform of Marleyan issue with two black stripes going down the torso.
Onyankopon is a friendly man, easily building a rapport with Hange Zoë and other members of the Survey Corps during his dealings with them. However, he also seems to have a rather serious mindset, becoming slightly perplexed by some soldiers' fixation on trivial matters during their preparations, and praising Hange for easily adapting to the technologies and ideas introduced to Paradis Island¹.
Onyankopon is a religious man, professing to the Eldians on Paradis who question him about his skin color that he believes God created different ethnicities of people out of a desire to make the world "interesting" .
Onyankopon's character is cool because he is a skilled pilot and a valuable member of the Anti-Marleyan Volunteers. He is also a friendly and religious man who is passionate about his beliefs. His character is a great addition to the series and adds depth to the story.
While I do agree Onyankopon was a great new character edition, he didn't really do anything to change the direction of the plot and there isn't really any complexity behind them. Appreciate your thoughts though.
You're hilarious. Was this from chatgpt
No comment.
@@kylebreadyeah wtf💀
This gotta be a joke lol
Thanks for great analysis! Awesome video!
Before i watch. Imo
Erwin Smith and Reiner are in their own tier.
erwin will never side with floch. erwin once said "human will never stop killing each other until 1 or less human remain". Floch think that massacre is the only way to create peace for eldia. this is hypocritical for erwin character. and floch only with erwin for a day. how the hell floch know erwin fully when they have completely different ideals and goal? erwin just like armin wanted to see outside world. erwin wanted to know if his father theory was correct.
What an amazing video!
Can we just talk about the relationships in AOT ! Its the most beautiful thing in Aot.
Levi - Erwin
Kenny - Uri
Eren - Armin
Mikasa - Armin
Jean - Marco
not suprised my 5 favorite characters are in the top 5
Give Gabi an honorable mention.
It's Sonny and Bean of course.
Also you didn’t put king Floch as number 1
3:15 Erwin would not have Floch's ideals, that boy was literally enjoying a power trip of forcing people into submission.
I think he meant the idea of Erwin serving for his people no matter what
@@llanosmichael_9-sj657 I would still disagree.
Erwin's actions (despite his underlying selfish dream) were for the good of what he thought was *all of humanity*. So if he found out that humanity had survived all over the world, why would he suddenly support near-global genocide?
Much more likely he would be with the rest of the scouts, ready to use the 50-year plan by sacrificing Historia and her children for the good of humanity, whilst actively looking for other options in hopes of not having to do something that awful. The rumbling is obviously infinitely morally worse than that plan.
No one can ever convince me that Erwin wouldn’t support the Rumbling. My man literally sacrificed himself and his squadron to take out the Beast Titan for the sake of humanity within the walls. If he learnt of humanity beyond the walls, and the fact that they were going to genocide Paradis, he definitely would have supported the Rumbling.
@Nate_Silver Erwin sacrificed himself for humanity, period. There was no nationalism in that man, in fact he was hated by the people in the Walls for most of his life and was always at odds with their government. The ones who made his life difficult and the ones who killed his father were all from Paradis.
@@ChadBenjamin Erwin sacrificed himself for humanity within the walls. How does sacrificing himself against Marley forces (to provide Levi with an opening to attack) infer he died for humanity in general? That doesn’t even make sense. His suicide charge was a strategy for defeating the enemy, which are also humans, so he isn’t sacrificing himself for humanity in general at all.
Good video, but dog you gotta fix your mic
Nice video mate 😊
Mikasa is way too high. Wtf has she done other than simp for Eren? Take her out of the story and plop in some random strong soldier scout instead and the story wouldn't change at all other than in the ending, where it felt random.
Tell me you watched the show with eyes closed without telling me
@@ddm1912 Explain what she did then? Her entire personality is strong soldier who simps for Eren, you can't convince me otherwise.
@@MobyDrip I agree Mikasa is too high. She's such wasted potential for a main character. I don't hate her like a lot of other people do, but she didn't really achieve her own goals in the end at all. At least Levi actually achieves something in the end, despite the whole conclusion of the series being a deus ex machina. It sounds weird, but I honestly think Levi gets the wrong end of the stick from a lot of people, considering he was on the fence and he did mean well. Mikasa was just hugely disappointing.
Fantastic vid
Lmao. Annie: I want to see my father. You: top 10 character. Mikasa: eren!!! You: top 10!!!
Says "Eren" a thousand times
Entire screen time is just her fighting
Wasn't an integral character until Isayama decided to retcon
Hmmm yes Mikasa is indeed a great character
She is so much more fleshed out in the manga. Wit studios (the studio that animated season 1-3) changed a lot (praobly over 50 %) of her dialogue to her simply saying "Eren". So many of the moments in the anime were Mikasa says "Eren" she originally actually said something different in the manga. In addition to this they also cut a lot of character moments for Mikasa and added anime original scenes of her saying "Eren". So yeah, if you think Mikasa's whole character is simply about Eren that's why. I used to hate Mikasa's character before I read the manga so I don't blame you for disliking her if your an anime only.
tbh in s4, regarding the manga or in the anime, her character was indeed only focused on Eren, like most of her inner fights resumed around him, even in the deadliest moments, when Armin was abt to break, she was still asking for Eren@@Donkey_On_Crack
Great list. I’d switch Sasha and Ymir and bump Levi to top 3 but pretty spot on
You forgot Gabi lol. Anyways good video ❤
bro i love adack on titan like ya me and my friend this is are faverite anime bro thank you so much for the vidio bruhh
my top 10:
10 mikasa
9 hange
8 zeke
7 floch
6 armin
5 eren
4 erwin
3 jean
2 levi
1 reiner
I would have put gabby on here somewhere, whether that's in the top 10 or honourable mentions. She mirrors both eren and reiner throughout her development.
Like eren, she's filled with hate and anger towards her enemies and, like, reiner she was brainwashed by marley from a young age (onlly made wors by the prase she got from being the best worior candidate).
Unlike eren, however, she's able to let go of her hate before she becomes like the monster she hates so much.
When she spends time on paradise and learns what the people ther are really like, she doesn't give into her orders or the propergander given to her by marley, and doesn't make as many poor decisions as reiner. But the fact that falcobis with her probably helps eith that.
In my POV, Reiner was the closest to a protagonist role especially in the second half. Falco and Gabi or at least one of them should be top ten. Narratively, Jean > Eren. Mikasa was a wasted character until the latter part.
Missed Keith and Grisha
Uh snooze fest, Grisha was in the honorable mentions
@@samuelutanlock8141 Not Keith tho
I can definitely understand the Keith take, "Bystander" was a great episode
Falco Grice the goat 🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿
None of the ones in the thumbnail for sure
Now that i finished AOT i dont want to watch anime no more hahaha!
cool ✨
😵💫😵💫🦅🦅🔥🔥🔥
i love you
brohohohooo
actually its armin
Erwin.
Back up from the mic dude
Jean and floch
Zero should be higher
Levi is number 1
Thats fair list . I wouldnt put Erwin that high, my only differense from you .
mikasa best charecter but ok
Invest in a pop filter plz dude
shish
Also you put eren in your top 10 list, eventhough Eren was for 130 episodes like: tatatakea. But for the last episode he was like: I am an idiot. So his whole story was for nothing. You calling that top 3 characters?
You've got that shonen MC standards
may aot fans stop reducing any opinion on aot to basic sentences such as "you're a shonen enjoyer", "you didn't understand the story" or things like that? Like someone really told me I didn't understand the story bc I said I didn't enjoy Mikasa character in s4, can't y'all accept opinions?@@MyUmer10
@@daeith1233 I am sorry...but if it was a valid criticism , I have no issue or reason to deny it or reducing it in anyway. I dont call this a criticism.
@@daeith1233 you not enjoying Mikasa in S4 is your opinion and a thing you felt personally. But yeah I wont go about saying you didn't understand her character etc. but what the op said is a solid No.
@@MyUmer10 You can still deny a critic tho
Cap list
falco at
Annie at #10? Nah i'm good
nvm I had a change of mind, I truly believe that this spot for her was right as she atleast deserved to be at #10 but she did not give the same spark as with the other character presented.
@@basedbro610 Annie is the most hypocritical character in the entire series. Her only purpose in the story to be the Armin's trophy waifu. She literally says she'd kill everyone again (cuts to the clip when annie was visibly enjoying killing people in s1) and later at the camp she has audacity to say all those things to Mikasa. Like she wouldn't do what eren did for her father. Yeah...
I don't really know how can you argue that she doesn't suck as a character.
@@basedalex I completely agree. Annie is the one who deserves all the hate. Far, far more than Mikasa and Levi do.
Amazing video bro
