- In this video I will be straightening my mom's hair. I have been doing my mom's hair for the last 4 to 5 years. She mainly wears her hair in protective styles for the majority of the year as it is easier for her. Once in a while I straighten it to make sure that there is no hidden damage.

How long have you been natural?
All my life. I have never used any chemicals on my hair.
How long did it take you to grow your hair?
Hard to say. My hair has pretty much always been around bra strap length. Within the past 2-3 year I have been able to grow my hair to about tailbone length.
What heat setting do you use on your flat iron?
Hard to tell. My flat iron only shows the highest heat setting. Not sure the exact temperature.

Protective style is key to retail length
Your mum's hair is beautiful. My grey are in a similar pattern, round the edges and the centre is mainly black. Regarding your mum's perspiration she may want to try evening primrose oil it helps to balance hormones.

I love silver hair. My silver was a dull yellow so i turned it pink
Did you try using a purple shampoo? Those are supposed to help counteract the yellowing.
Love that! I plan continue to color my few greys to blonde as I get older so I can look like Mary J Blidge by 60 😂❤
@Nzingathegem ya that just turned my hair purple...which gave me the idea to dye it. Then when I out lived my prognosis I figured go ahead and do it....never looked back.

When people say “genetics”, we mean BIOLOGY. Everyone in my family has different hair. Some of us have long terminal length, some of us have shorter terminal length even when we have similar textures. That’s biology that is specific to the individual.
