On the age gap thing: My husband is Jordanian, we married almost 13 years ago, I'm 21 years older, divorced with 2 kids, I'm Catholic, he's Muslim, we married on my first trip to Jordan to meet him. LOTS of so-called red flags. After returning to the U.S I sent his I-130, it was approved in less than 3 months with no RFE. Sailed through NVC and the interview in Amman, which I also attended, and he was here in the U.S less than 8 months after sending the I-130 (he arrived in the U.S in August 2012). Removed conditions-sailed through that with zero RFEs. Applied for naturalization under the 3 year rule, same-sailed through it with no RFEs. The entire immigration journey from sending the I-130, up to and including naturalization, I did 100% on my own without the help of any attorney at any point in the process. I think I may have posed 1 or 2 questions on Visa Journey during the naturalization process. The point I'm trying to make is that this process, as daunting as it may seem, is absolutely doable. I was told over and again how difficult our case was and we would be lucky to ever get approved and honestly, at least for us, it was a breeze. I know it was over a decade ago when we began, but as you well know, immigration hasn't changed much since then, with the exception of the incredibly long wait times.
You mentioned that you weren't very sympathetic to a person who had a large age gap in her relationship, that's why I left my very long winded comment above. My husband and I, who yes, is 21 years younger than I am, are still very happily married, a large age gap doesn't always equal an automatic denial. At least not through the consulate in Amman. In fact, at this very moment, we are at his parents home in Amman. We've been here for a month and we're heading home Saturday the 17th.
P.S. Love your show, I've been a silent watcher for a few years now.
