Plot twist: The $5 copy Jadow bought from that used game store was the same one he sold to the EB store when he was younger. This is essentially a reunion episode.
It's surprising how not many people talked about the whole game. Most people just talked about the first level with the rings and the first two car challenges and that was it. What a lot of people never knew is that there was a lot more to this game to talk about.
My idea of a Superman game involves Superman fighting a team of his villains led by Luthor, which include Parasite, Metallo, Livewire, Luthor himself, and perhaps Silver Banshee since she’s fought Superman before x3 then they get captured by Mongul and are forced to win their freedom by winning a tournament comprised of other teams and basically save the world. Basic RPG premise x3 can even have God of War 3 style boss battles throughout various environments Mongul sends them to. You can feel like Superman and no one has to be nerfed x3 you even get some variety with the villains you control (Parasite copies the abilities of his opponents, Lex resorts to using machinery and his mind, Livewire is a ranged fighter using lightning, and Silver Banshee can briefly turn intangible and drain life from her opponents x3)
I recently played Superman: Shadow of Apokolips (the first Superman game to come out after Superman 64 if I remember correctly). I haven't played enough of it to judge how it is overall, but I think it's safe to say it's a huge improvement over Superman 64
Hailstorm273 In terms of games in general, they probably aren't. However, in terms of Superman games, I'm not sure if you could get any lower than Superman 64
Hailstorm273 There are some games on Steam (or trying to get on Steam through Greenlight) that are literally just a tutorial for a game-maker like Unity or Unreal that the dev renamed and put on Steam completely un-modified. Jim Sterling found three separate games by different people that were literally Unity's "UnitZ" zombie game tutorial completely unaltered.
Idk if you've ever played the game Superman Returns, but you should if you haven't and I'd like you to do a review on that game if you could. In that game you can you use all of Superman's powers heat vision, ice breath and wind breath anytime you want. And you're invisible with only the city of Metropolis having a health bar, it's an open world game it really makes you feel like you're Superman's flying around Metropolis is really fun. While the game is not perfect at all it's really flawed and could have used more polish, after 10 years it's still sadly the best and only good Superman game we have.
Well I did like Superman in Injustice hence I disagreed with your statement about Superman only ever being good in a game in Lego Batman 2. Plus with people like Rocksteady, and Neversoft working on Warner Bros games, I can see a whole lot of potential with not just Superman, but all of DC's and Mortal Kombat's characters. Hell at the very least have Superman make an appearance in the next Arkham game. Just something I want him to be on top again.
A game as the Question would be neat; using disguises and conducting investigations would be awesome! Heck; if Zelda is getting a hack and slash, one with Scorpion could work too.
I think Doom Eternal is a good case study on how to handle an overpowered character. You have a ton of things to work with to dispatch enemies, and the game gives you a ton of varied enemy types.
When I tried this game myself, I found that the ring mazes were actually the best part of the game. They were f***ing terrible, but everything else in the game was f***ing torture. The rings were the best part by default.
Many people believe that making a superman game is difficult because he's too damn powerful but I'm gonna have to call bullshit on that. Through out your reviews of this game I have come to a conclusion that Superman has never gotten a good game, not because he's too powerful but because the game devs don't know what the hell they are doing! Making a game on a comic book super hero is not rocket science got damnit! The problem with many of these game companies is that they try too hard to make superman weaker for the gameplay and they usually end up making him too weak, you could say he's too powerful but that's not an issue when designing a super hero game. Look at Spiderman 2 and Hulk Ultimate Destruction, those games revolve around two iconic superheroes with distinct abilities, sure the games nerfed them but you still have the feeling that your playing as hulk or spiderman, you know why? because they balance them out to match the gameplay! It's obvious that making a superhero game where the hero can take out entire continents or even planets is just nonsensical because it would be too damn easy! Both Ultimate Destination and Spiderman 2 make the characters balanced to match the gameplay, a problem the that superman games have doing for some reason, it's not that difficult. Let me brake down how a good superman game could be developed. First let's take a look at spiderman 2, in the comics spiderman is capable of lifting well over 20 tons, he has feats of lifting up cars, buses, and even tanks. Spidermans webs are extramly strong as well, as a matter of fact he's held up buildings using his webs. In the game you can't do any of that but you are capable of dodging bullets, swinging from building to building, and executing several different combos and maneuvers that look nice and feel satisfying. Although your not able to replicate spidermans comic book feats the game mechanics make you feel like spiderman. Samething with hulk ultimate destruction, you may not be able to wreck an entire city by sneezing or shake the entire planet but you are able to destroy giant robots, annihilate vehicles, destroy buildings, and do devastating power moves that can span across entire city blocks. The point Is to get the player to feel like the person they are playing as! This can be done without making the game too easy, just nerf superman, give him formidable enemies, make a nice flying system, give superman all of his abilities, and add in unique combos/super moves based on his abilities. Developers try so hard to nerf him when they should be trying to balance him out to match the gameplay, superman shouldn't feel like paper but he also shouldn't be invulnerable. Characters like superman, hulk, and thor do not have to wreck planets in order to have a decent game, just give us a game that has a decent story, formidable enemies that will challenge the player, and mechanics that make you feel like your playing as superman!
Some heroes just don't have much luck for a good game, whether it was the Incredible Hulk movie tie-in for the Wii or the PS1 Fantastic Four game (god, they get WAY too much shitty multimedia).
I sometimes when I am bored or am busy eating I tend to sometimes revisit your reviews. You getting angry with these reviews whilst giving valid reasoning as to why the games are bad is just entertaining to me. These reviews are in my opinion underrated. I am just impressed you managed to beat this game. People would have probably just quit only about 3 levels in. This is like that one game that just was designed to torture people with how sloppy it is. The game starts off bad but gets worse as it goes on. It does not even appear to be in the Alpha stages. It looks like a very early beta that was not tested for bugs and glitches and is just overall very sloppy and rushed in design.
warioland523 Thank you; I really appreciate it. I've heard that the beta of Superman 64- apparently it's available online somewhere- is actually better than the released game. The prototype was apparently somehow better than this!

There is only one game I can think of where flying through rings was fun. The speedways in Spyro. What made it good? Oh yeah, there were only 10, the controls were awesome, it was only probably 0.01% of the game whereas flying through rings seems like at least 50% of this game... There was a singly level in Crash Bandicoot 3 that had some rings as well, that was a fun level too for the same reasons as Spyro. Had more rings, but also enjoyable enemies and boxes to shoot :b
When I was in health class in my school, there was a drug book we got handed out, and one of the drugs was a large pellet with a Superman Logo, the effects of it were to make Superman 64 a good game. I'm dead serious.
At least Sonic 06 has a reason of why it's known as with a lot of hates, since the game was unfinished because Sega wanted it to come out in time for the 15th Anniversary. Like in Sonic 06 some parts of the story made sense Sonic's was about saving Elise, Shadow's was about sealing Mephiles, and Silver was about saving his future. You did a great example on why Superman 64 is hated. Lol your video only has 1 dislike, meaning that they are probably no fanboys of this game at all since it's bad.
I remember renting this game when I was a kid and I was SINCERELY PISSED! I was a dumb kid and though I was doing something wrong. When I returned it, I happily let it go.

Superman's best game is Superman Returns cause gives Superman all of his powers which you can use unlimitedly and he's invincible except the city of Metropolis. But even that game is awful due to the graphics, repetitiveness and the final boss being a tornado.

hahaha i remember this was the most expensive at 70 dollars n64 game i ever got from toys r us when i was like 9. and i played it like once or twice. and never got past the damn level bombs.
I didn't get an n64 until 99 (at 5 years old) so I didn't have much time to enjoy the vast supply of great games on the n64 before I got a gamecube. So I've decided to dust off the old thing and go on a hunt for the best and biggest gems the n64 has to offer. After watching you're review I can clearly see that superman 64 is not one of those games. Glad my parents never bought me this shit. But do you have any recommendations on what games I should buy? So far I've got super smash bros. Star fox64 and Pokemon Stadium.
Superman 64 is most definitely not one of those games. You're doing good so far on N64 games. My recommendations are -Star Wars Rogue Squadron and Battle for Naboo (Shadows of the Empire is hailed as one of the system's all time classics, but it's kind of just okay) -Shadow Man -Yoshi's Story -Donkey Kong 64 -Kirby 64: the Crystal Shards -Quake 2 -Super Mario 64 -The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask (I haven't played them because Zelda is not my cup of tea, but everyone else LOVES them) -I personally like Tetrisphere but I think I'm alone on that front. -Chopper Attack -If you're in the mood for a good 2-D Shooter: Space Invaders -Toy Story 2 -Goldeneye Trust me though: you DO NOT want Pokemon Stadium 2. Unless you're using the transfer pack, that game is unplayable.
***** Thank you man! I'm definitely gonna follow this list. I had my finger on super mario 64 and donkey kong 64 before, so I'll go for those two next. And I'm glad you said that about pokemon stadium 2 because I was going to get that at some point also.
diebyeguy Always happy to help. I've made a review of Pokemon Stadium 2 if you want to hear about all that unpleasantness. Basically the rental Pokemon you have in that game are so weak that it's impossible to beat anything.
Also Banjo Kazooie, Tooie, Conkers bad fur day, bomberman 64, bomberman hero, the mario parties, paper mario, battletanx, pokemon snap, glover, and many others
Imo I think Superman 64 is worse then Sonic 06. At least in Sonic 06 the game did not require you to go through rings with the exception at the start of Sonic's Episode. That and the game is a lot more polished then Superman 64. Also while the controls can be sensitive in Sonic 06,at least they are tolerable. Superman's controls and flying controls in Superman 64 I think, feel god awful. When you are not flying Superman controls like a tank.
Could be, Nazi's arent known for their kindness towards human suffering...so figures they would make the player suffer through something as simple as a video game.
ya know dark Lord there is one up side for people like us who play these bad games... We get to kick asses in multiplayer. And in games ya know on ya veterans, legendaries and what not when most people give up we got mechanical superiority in our hands. Now 2 games I play that really increased my gaming is snake zevious on nokia mobile and Touhou.

in order to make a good superman game, you think they should let the players have access to all of supermans powers at their full potential? or hold them back and have them be upgradable?
I don't really think it matters, as long as the powers aren't so toned down that they're all useless; upgraded or no.

You CAN fight Brainiac at Lexcorp, but you can fly right past him and end the level with no consequence. I don't even think he chases you.

My recommendations are
-Star Wars Rogue Squadron and Battle for Naboo (Shadows of the Empire is hailed as one of the system's all time classics, but it's kind of just okay)
-Shadow Man
-Yoshi's Story
-Donkey Kong 64
-Kirby 64: the Crystal Shards
-Quake 2
-Super Mario 64
-The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask (I haven't played them because Zelda is not my cup of tea, but everyone else LOVES them)
-I personally like Tetrisphere but I think I'm alone on that front.
-Chopper Attack
-If you're in the mood for a good 2-D Shooter: Space Invaders
-Toy Story 2
-Goldeneye
Trust me though: you DO NOT want Pokemon Stadium 2.

Always happy to help.
Dan FInnessee Perfect Dark.
Can you make another video reviewing this game named Big Rigs over the road racing? An actual game that was unfinished. It's worse than Superman 64.
Which is worse; this game or Sonic 06?
Imo I think Superman 64 is worse then Sonic 06. At least in Sonic 06 the game did not require you to go through rings with the exception at the start of Sonic's Episode. That and the game is a lot more polished then Superman 64. Also while the controls can be sensitive in Sonic 06,at least they are tolerable. Superman's controls and flying controls in Superman 64 I think, feel god awful. When you are not flying Superman controls like a tank.
Could be, Nazi's arent known for their kindness towards human suffering...so figures they would make the player suffer through something as simple as a video game.
i gave up at the dam level and that was on release day.
+Robert Luke Sounds about right.
DO THE AWKWARD PUNCH!!!
it looks like it could make a awesome dance tho.
ya know dark Lord there is one up side for people like us who play these bad games... We get to kick asses in multiplayer. And in games ya know on ya veterans, legendaries and what not when most people give up we got mechanical superiority in our hands. Now 2 games I play that really increased my gaming is snake zevious on nokia mobile and Touhou.
and of course games like this.
haha worked all weekend so i could rent this garbage from blockbuster when I was kid. I was so confused ...so confused
On ps2 x box and GameCube
You kinda sound like Ray Romano.
Why is Superman constantly convulsing in this game? Even when he is knocked down, he's always moving. Fuckin' weird
Oh. My. Gwod. Why not?
Alright, it's for the PC. This game will make you go WTF?! anytime you play. Also, the game has no positive thing at all.
Wait, there's a list of the worst games ever on Wikipedia?!
