- In this video I want to show you how to import your old beta presets into Vroid Studio 1.0.
BUT also how you export and import NEW presets, that were created in the Version 1.0.
so you can update your booth store files for example or upload new ones, that serve Vroid 1.0 users.
And as a Bonus, we will also talk a bit about combining hair in the end.

This is really handy for those who already have models in the beta, however, not practical for those who have just gotten into vroid after 1.0 released. I personally think they need to step on that quick, and add an official way to import booth hair presets in 1.0.

Since the formats are so different now, there may not be a way to do it "officially".
So what I and maybe other booth store owners will do, is doing the conversion already and thus put a Vroid 1.0 version out there for download.
So we will slowly replace the old models and the buyer doesn't have to deal with the whole "creating-an-avatar-in-beta" first, but will just receive the .vroidcustomitem already.
It's more for the transition phase, till we will have more Vroid 1.0 presets, than beta presets going around on the market.

And since they were so nice to offer this kind of conversion feature for the avatars and through that, for the presets already, I don't see why they would get another tool to basically do the same, just for the hair itself.
But as I said, nothing keeps booths store owners away from just updating their presets now and making them available for download, if the conversion was successful.
(Which sadly isn't always the case ^^')

So how do you get your batwing accessory to work? When that is saved as overall hair, it basically makes your character bald. And if you add any other hair, the wings disappear. Since the batwings you made were created for "overall hair" it seems impossible to combine it with anything else. Unless I'm missing something.
Since I started with 1.0+ (whatever is on steam) it seems like it's impossible for me to combine presets with the hairstyle I already have made.
In my case that only works, because the model that you may have seen, was an imported beta model.
Sadly we can't combine "overall hair" with front and back hair yet...so what you can do is, is to create your hair in one of the other categories (like "sides", "extras" and so on...these are combinable with overall hair sets)

So, I got a few things figured out... And I have a preset Ears/Tail, but its under Overall with my hair. When I put on the ears it takes away the hair. I seen your end segment on combine, but how is it done? Is there already a tutorial on how to combine customs?
Sadly once it's in overall hair, it can't be combined with other parts.
So you either recreate the parts in anything else but overall hair, or you just create the rest of your hair onto the overall hair you have.
I am sure people have already contacted pixiv to ask if it would be possible to get old presets out of "overall hair", so it could be combined with other hair parts.
But for now that isn't possible.
For some reason I have no folder that has my name- I tried any folder. Nothing is showing "LocalLow"

Right click on the VRoidStudio icon on your desktop and click( Open file location) once in that folder click on (AppData) on the file explorer link and follow these folders LocalLow->pixiv->VRoid Studio->custom_items
I'm actually having issues with the beta. Absolutely none of the preset files I move to my user folder show up in the beta, and I'm not sure how to go about fixing this ;m;

Is there by chance a way to convert something that's stored in overall hair too another category such as the "extra" category? Or alternatively a way to convert the vroidcustomitem files to json in a way that they'd be usable by old Vroid?
Issue I'm running into is that many of the tails available on booth are presets for the old version, and when they get converted to Vroid 1 it's saved as an overall hair. But the hairstyle that my friend made for my character (as well as the horns that I made) where made in Vroid 1.
Sadly we don't really know of a way yet.
The only thing I can tell you, that may help in the future is: If your other hair was created using any other hair category then "front" and "back", "overall hair" can be combined with all the others.
So let's say your tail is "overall hair" and you create the rest of the hair under extensions, as a custom hairstyle, you can combine without a problem.
I hope that helps at least a bit in the future :)

hi miss! I need help please, I just started making a model in the newest vroid, but i am having issues with needing to use the front hair, along with horns i made using the front hair sets. Is it possible to get them both on my avatar without having to redo the horns in a diff hair category? :(
Hello. Sadly that isn't possible, because you can't use two sets of the same category.
What I recommend nowadays, is to make horns in one of the 4 bottom categories (not in the last from the bottom, but the other 4 above that).
Because these are usually combinable with others.
But using the same category twice on one model, is sadly not an option.

Where can I buy custom hair items looking on booth can only find hair styles for the beta version
Most styles on booth will be for beta still, as beta existed for multiple years already, before the stable version released and everything changed.
You can look on Fiverr for example or ask basically any Vroid artist, that is selling their work, if they would create a custom hair style for you. :)

When we added wings based on hair the front and back hair disappear how do I fix it
You add the wings into a combinable category.
So atm the wings will replace your front and back hair, likely because they are in overall hair.
This will replace the hair you already had on your avatar.
Problem is, that if you added them this way, you either have to create the rest of your hair now in a combinable category (one of the bottom 3 or 4), from scratch, or the wings.
Both categories (front/back and overall) cant have hair and work together.
Hello Aska! I have a problem with my hair in vroid. I made cute bangs for my character but instead of the bangs section I made it in the overall hair section. Any way to transfer it?

Sadly so far we don't have a way of transferring these over.
There is a rumored workaround, but I haven't tried it myself yet, to verify if it actually works or not.

when it comes to the step of locating the hair saves in my files ( this step C > User > AppData > LocalLow > pixiv > Vroid Studio > custom_items) i actually cannot find this save location, i can go as far as users but app data does not exist in that file location. My assumption is that during the years ive had this pc ive messed with files i shouldnt have but even when i tried to search for the file throughout the whole computer it doesnt seem to exist? just a bit confused. from what ive seen it looks like the files possibly have collided with my curseforge minecraft files and my clip studio paint files.
If anyone can help it would be very much appriciated thank you!

It's a pretty common issue, because the AppData Folder is one of the "hidden" folders by default.
You can follow this guide here to make hidden folders visible and that should fix the issue, I hope :)

You can't move them into a different group, BUT since we can combine "overall hair" now with any other hair, you could merge the antlers and your hairstyle in the beta version already, before exporting it to stable.
If your hair is made with the stable version instead, you should be able to combine it now with stuff from "overall hair", without replacing it in the progress :)

@@rocketnlily Every version from 1.0 upwards is called "stable", because before that, we only had the Beta version of Vroid Studio. So people refer to the Beta version as "Beta" and the final release of version 1.0, as "stable". :)
Then you should actually be able to combine the antlers from "overall hair" with any of your hair presets from version 1.4 :)

Is there absolutely no way to change something from the "overall hair" category into another category? All my hair presets from the old version automatically go into the "overall hair" category when imported and I want to be able to separate out hats and such to use with other hairstyles without having to recreate the hats.
From my tests so far I couldn't make it work (I was hoping for the same thing)
As a programmer, I know there must be a way for the program to identify in which category these 'custom' items go, but without knowing what they used to make these .vroidcustomitem datasets,
it would be hard to get to that point of changing them.
(So the category could be changed and you could seperate parts and save them in different categories, by overriting this identifier)
But sadly, so far we don't have that (yet).
Honestly though, the community is great and since there was "3rd party software" for the beta version, to help us getting around some issues (like combining hair for example),
I think there is a chance for us to see something similar in the future, to seperate the 'overall hair' maybe.
I wouldn't give up hope, but it will surely take a while, till something like this may be released by someone.
I installed VRoid to D and there are NO folders like these at all, I'm so lost

Yes and no.
Ok, let me explain.
If you import and save a Beta preset, your Beta preset will be stuck in "overall hair".
So far there is nothing we can do about it.
So let's say, you used the front & back from Vroid 1.0 already and then want to add some Beta preset horns, the front/back hair will just disappear.
BUT if you create a custom hairstyle in any of the other categories (like sides, extra etc.) or try to use presets from there, then you can combine these with the overall hair, hair (and thus the beta presets).

I'm so sorry to bother tho I'm having issues with it not showing up, I've done all that youve shown and the beta still wont show it. Is there any reason for this?
Hello!
If you never ever used the beta and downloaded it just for your first transfer, then the problem is there and an easy fix.
You would just have to create a "hair" yourself first (it can literally be 1 hairstrand you draw) and save it as a custom hairset.
Only then does the program recognize the folder.
So once you did that, just close the program and copy your downloaded folder in the correct folder and open up VROID again.
You should then see under the loading hair option, that you have the one you saved yourself and the one you copied into it.
The rest is the same as described!

in the description there should be a link, from where you can download the beta version.
And the stable version can be downloaded on steam for example.
These will create 2 different versions of the program, so you then open whichever version you want.
They work at the same time too.
What if i dont have an Appdata folder under my user
That means you don't show "hidden folders".
There is an option at the top of your file explorer under "view" and there is a little option to the left, of a box called "hidden items" or "show hidden items".
That box has to be checked.
And then you will find the AppData folder.

@@technotoister Ah, sorry I thought this was for another video. 😅
The trick here is, that you actually don't have to import it from beta, because it's a texture only...if you go to my wings video, you can see me using the texture as actual wings (hence my confusion)
You would just create a new hairpart in Vroid stable (out of 2 flat strands on the head, where you want the wings to be) and apply the texture.
You likely have to adjust the texture slightly, but you can recreate the look without a problem in stable, with just the texture.

In case it didn't and you still want to give the beta import a go, try to create at least one custom hairstyle in beta yourself (can be literally 1 single hairstrand), save it as a preset and close beta.
Then import the hairpreset into the preset folder, if not done already and start beta up again.
Then both should show up.

What file type is your asset/the ribbon?

hi my hair presets folder is empty. i am new in this app so can you help me? :(
Yes! If that's your first time using it, you have to create at least 1 custom hair preset yourself.
(just draw a strand of hair and press the button to the left to save it as a new custom preset)
After that, close the program completely and now you should have 1 folder there.
The folder of the new hair (you probably downloaded somewhere), goes exactly there then.
Now restart VROID and you should see that not only your own "custom preset" pops up on the list, but also the one you copied into the folder. :)
After that, just proceed as described on the video

Yes, you should have a "materials" folder and a "presets" JSON file...if you just got a JSON file, that would probably not work.
Both of these have to be in a folder rcalled "preset + number" and such a folder could be placed then in the hair_presets folder of Vroid, to show up in Vroid Studio (Beta) after.

what if none of the hairs are in the hair preset file? that happened and they aren't even in the beta version
This could mean:
1. You didn't create a single hair preset yet
2. The hair that you got has another format
For 1, you can try to create a random custom hair preset in Beta and save it.
(it could be literally just a strand of hair)
This should automatically create a preset folder in the Beta path, I showed in the video.
Once you got that, you should be able to paste other presets there as well.
Please keep in mind, that the preset folder can't have anything else inside, but the 2 items I show in the video.
So if your folder has another folder inside, it won't work.
Once copied, you have to restart Vroid again, otherwise it won't get recognized.

I want to continue to develop the clothing on my character to resemble a customized Navi from Megaman Battle Network. He has a continous design of hexagonal shaped making up his armor, and it kind of floats around him. I need to really get better with textures. I want to port real life textures into the clothing. The Vroid Community inspires me on so many levels. I really love how we can use these characters in web games. My only problem is, how to promote the Booth shop and how to set up the overflow items that I create trying to make the design for my characters.
First:
That's a really cool project!
Second: Real live textures can work soo well on Vroid, so I can only encourage you to use them.
Third: To promote your booth store, make sure you have at least one social media account, that has a big following and then promote your items there.
Maje sure to target an audience, that could potentially be interested in your stuff.
You can find videos on how to grow any type of social media account, here on TH-cam. (it's incredible honestly)
Growth may be slow in the beginning, but once you got the hang of it and you found the right people, it will be easier. :)

Technically yes. That will guarantee you can combine these.
Though by now you can also combine "overall hair" with the extra categories(sides, ahoge, extra etc ).
But for example you won't be able to use horns from booth, that were made in the Beta version and combine them with the "front" and "back" hair section.
Because everything that was ever made in Beta will automatically go into "overall hair" and can't be taken out of it.
"Overall hair" replaces "front"/"back" when applied...so you if you are smart with creating your hair from scratch in the other categories, you can do a lot of cool combinations.
No matter how many guides I watch I just can't figure out anything past getting to the Local Low folder. It just has 2 other folders following it. AMD and Microsoft. Neither are helpful. I am so frustrated. :(
I suppose you don't see the "Appdata" folder?
It's a hidden folder.
Go to the "View" tab at the top and check the "Hidden items" checkbox.
Now you should be able to see the AppData folder in your User folder.
@@LadyAska That helped! Been at this for almost 2 hours lol. Turns out I had another user on my account named "12064" and apparently that's what my main account is called? Weird because it's just called "Jamie" when I go to manage users. So I was looking at the incorrect AppData folder. I really just can't get any custom presets to show now. I'm new at this sorry..

If it's cat ears, then you got a beta preset.
Honestly cat ears are nowadays so easy in Vroid stable version, that I would recommend you just create them right there, with the new accessory feature. :)

What if i dont have an app data folder?
Everyone has one, but on some PCs hidden folders aren't visible.
There is an option in the file explorer, at the top, in which you can make hidden folders visible :)

You have to create one hair preset yourself, if you never used beta before, because otherwise the whole folder won't be recognized.
Just create a new preset, draw a random strand of hair and then save that preset and close the program.
If you copied your booth preset correctly already, you would only have to open Vroid Beta again now and your booth preset should be there. :)

Is there a way to export the animations with the avatar
From Vroid Studio not.
You would have to create animations outside of Vroid, like in Unity and then you can use them too in VSeeFace.

It's easy! :D
You press "Export preset", when your Avatar wears the hair, that you want to save.
Then you go to the same path that is shown in this video, where all the presets are and the program created a new folder now, with your hair preset saved inside!
The new one will always be 1 number higher, than the last one, that was saved in the hair preset folder.
For example, lets say your hair preset folder has as the last preset one, that's called "preset 11", than your new preset will be saved under "preset 12" now.

You follow the path that is shown in the first half of the video, to get to your preset folders.
There you open preset16 and drag the .json into a text editor.(notepad)
Search for "preset", till you find "preset16" in the text and rename that whatever you want.
Then save and once you restart Vroid Studio again, you will see the new name under your presets! :)
I don't find the pixiv folder :(
Let me guess:
You don't see "AppData"?
(it is an invisible folder for some)
Here is what you would have to do:
In the File Explorer (inside any folder basically) select under "View" -> "Options" -> and there again under "View" should be an Option "show hidden folders".
This has to be selected.
And then you should be able to see the AppData folder.

In that folder should be the "pixiv" folder.
