Chris, as you know Oppo is planning a return to Europe shortly having solved the patent dispute with Nokia! Unfortunately, the X7 Ultra will not see a global release but the Find X8 series have been confirmed as coming to Europe as soon as they release.
Yes this is really good news and I'll be glad to see them back as they make some great phones and it will put the pressure back on Samsung and Apple. As Oppo was popular in NZ and Aust until they pulled out those flagships.
Thank you for finally reviewing this phone. Also, this supports the Oppo Pen. It's just not advertised by Oppo/Oneplus. You will find a setting for Stylus within the OS. Uses the same stylus as that of the Oppo Find N2 that came before this.
@@Techtablets Yeah, probably because the stylus is an additional accessory that one has to pay for unlike the S-Pen that comes along with some of Samsung's devices. Also the "Oppo Pen" that was a Find N2 accessory isn't widely available in most markets as the Find N2 wasn't available in many markets outside China either. Also probably to avoid warranty claims from some users damaging the inner display with the stylus. Not advertising or making the stylus available in more markets is a missed opportunity.
A totally different approach from HONOR Magic V2. By compromising the weight and thickness, OPPO managed to fit in all the best hardware in the Find N3, backed by its mature and featureful software. Nice one OPPO!
And it's not like it's that huge, it's still slimmer and lighter than Fold5. I think that Samsung has a lot of things to improve with Fold6, the competition is really tough now.
Sorry I didn't think it did as it's not mentioned anywhere with the global version or in the specs which is so odd but yes it does so that is on con off the list!
It does.. but try finding one. Those retailers that have managed to get hold of them.. AliExpress.. are ripping people off charging $486.. yes.. $486. That's why I never use them.
Congrats. I believe based on this review that it's brilliant. Videos looked awesome with amazing audio quality, probably the best so far. Photos looked just as great. And that design is the best in my opinion and it looks very premium thanks to that awesome vegan leather finish.
Yes I think it is so far for a foldable the best at least I've tested, the cameras, screen and design. Also there is in fact a stylus for it that they don't advertise but the N2 Fold stylus works with it the Oppo pen. The software isn't quite as good as the Fold 5's OneUI from Samsung sure but everything else about it is superior so it kinda makes up for it.
Awesome review Chris. Dont worry about being late to the party your reviews are way more thorough than others anyway. Did you import your version? I've imported a OnePlus 12 16+1TB with oxygen OS for 699 pounds, cant wait to get it. Thanks again to your reviews
Thanks for the support! This one is the global version from Oppo, 4 months late but at least I finally got one to test after hearing so many good things about it. That's a great price for the OP12, great phone that one. OnePlus & Oppo are defiantly on top of their game this year and late last year.
hi what do you think about the vivo fold 3 pro are you getting one , do you think we will get a global version of it , and when the oppo one plus version will come out
11:51 Dude, my god... same!!! Been lamenting about this for years, and at this point think this situation has always been on purpose to give the upcoming tri-folds they keep showing at CES a major selling point: an aspect ratio for the internal screen that actually makes sense. We got close with the Pixel fold but that was probably a decision to draw less attention to the bezels... last "taller" Samsung foldable was the Z fold 3: if only they stuck with that design and tried to keep a great screen-to-body ratio for the outer screen, imagine... an "actual" tablet in your pocket, not a square-phone.
I had this and it was my favorite phone of all time. I change my device every few months cos I like to experience different devices and this has been the most amazing one so far. The cameras, the build, software, everything just sticks. I'm trying the iPhone 15 Pro Max now and I can say the camera on the Oppo Find N3 is noticeably better than this in terms of photo quality and color. It is a seriously good phone.
Seems you agree with my findings then I'm the same very impressed with this phone after all of the foldables I have covered now it stands out. Plus now the Oppo pen from the N2 works it's even better. My previous #1 was the magic V2 due to the hardware but this has better cameras, OS and slightly better screens.
Oppo just leveled up their game by bringing in the fold one. Really keeping up with the competition. Love how it actually is a good option in th emarket rn. i've been using it for sweet 4 months now and have never been in the position to doubt it. I really like the fact that I don't have to resort to a tablet for watching movies. When it comes to productivity it's truly a all-in-one choice. Although everything is smooth it's hard to protect the whole at once. For now, I'm using a gadgetshieldz screen and body protection film and armor case for the time being. Looking for other options too!
Thanks for the video but you should make a correction, at least in the video description or comments. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY STYLUS SUPPORT AND ONE OF THE BEST AT THAT! The settings option is even available on the phone's menu and the stylus that goes with it is Oppo's own Find N2 Official Stylus that is fully compatible with the N3. I have one and is just as good, if not better than Samsung's S-Pen for the latest generation Fold :)
Okay I was thinking the global version didn't have it because there is no mention of it with all of the Oppo specs and materials I was sent with the review unit. In that case it's one con off the list!
Indeed, the collaboration between Oppo and OnePlus produced something marvelous. If I were anywhere near interested in purchasing a foldable this would be the one I choose.
@Techtablets personally, I feel what Oppo and 1 + are doing is far more forward-thinking than anything Samsung has to offer. Frankly, the Z series foldables have become the groundhog day of smartphones. Every year you have to ask the question "haven't I seen this before"? They pretty much offer the same device every year with only token changes. At the moment, the competition is making them look silly. Samsung really needs to do a full overhaul on their design language.
Couldn't agree with you more on this and I felt exactly this with the Z series so boring with minor tweaks but also the "new" S24 Ultra. Same phone as the last two really just refined. That's all they do and I swear if the Fold 6 is the same all over again I will not be buying one and stick to Oppo and Honor for foldables that are interesting!
@@Techtablets in fact, there's already leaks about the z6. Some of the renderings have been made public online. It looks like the same device as the five. As far as the S series is concerned, I hate the design language. It's been awful for the last couple of years. They haven't manufactured an aesthetically attractive device since the s21 series. Strictly speaking, the s24 ultra looks like a glass casket. I absolutely hate flat slab Flintstone phones. They have perpetual right angles, pointy corners and lack any and all design imagination. Once more, the flat slab design makes their devices awkward to hold. Curved glass designs are far more ergonomic. You would think that for $1,300 and up that they could design a device that didn't summon up images of a funeral home. I'm glad that we are in accord on this. Great minds think alike.
Hi Chris, great review. I have a OnePlus Open, basically the same phone for a month now. It's a great flip phone, but there are some things that bother me. The external screen "freezes". It seems to stop responding to touch, but when you unfold and fold the phone, it starts working again. Also, the Oneplus launcher is a bit simpler than for example on the Z fold (only 4 columns of icons and so on..) The camera setup is the same as the OnePlus 12, only some optics are different. The main camera takes super nice photos, but loses detail when subjects are a bit further away. It would be nice if Oppo/OnePlus make some kind of desktop mode like MagicOs on Honor or Samsung Dex on Z Fold.
Thanks for the comment I've not come across this inner screen freezing up issue it sounds like it might be OxygenOS as ColorOS is fine with that. Yes compared to OneUI on the Fold5 I had it's not quite as good the UI on Android but I still found it better than MagicOS I just come from with the Honor Magic V2. For sure a desktop PC mode like Samsung Dex would be great and hopefully supporting 4k60 not just 1440p max or something.
Hi Thanks for doing this review .. Its the end of 2024 now just wondering is this if I get this device the same price as the New Oneplus 13 or Oppo Find X8 Pro which device would you buy please ?! Thanks J
Dont understand why they ditch the form factor of N2. N2 have a more refine look and feel. Those big camera look like a weird face with open eyes and mouth.
Hey Chris, thanks for great review as always. My ROG phone 7 just died today and send to warranty (really sad because love its loudspeakers) and consider to sell it and looking for either Iqoo 12 or S24 ultra because only those 2 phones are available in Indonesia which has latest flagship chipset and features. Do you think S24 Ultra worth almost 2x price of Iqoo 12 (1200 eur vs 640 eur) for my needs, or should i save money and go for iqoo 12? I need long enough battery life, and good enough screen for reading comic, articles, watching youtube and playing ps5 remote play (elden ring). I dont really care that much about camera quality especially front facing cam. I don't play native android games, but i'd love to have extra processing power when i need it. I don't really change my phone that much, and i'm still using my old trusty oneplus 5.
Extraordinary Premium built with great features, I’m just wondering if this was a Apple product how other TH-camrs will reacts and the price. Great review Chris!
There is a little throttling, but the cooling really surprised me on this it barely gets warm compared to my Fold 6, Magic V2 all the foldables I've covered this one has the best cooling of them all.
Okay my bad I thought this global version didn't as there is no mention of the stylus support on the official global Find N3 website, specs and from Oppo which sent me this unit.
That's true it's better the hardware being thinner and lighter but MagicOS I feel isn't up to the same level as ColorOS and then this Find N3 has better cameras compared to the Magic V2 RSR I have here. So that's why I prefer it and the build of the N3 is really nice if thicker and a bit heavier.
Oppo has the best sharpest camera, best durability, fast charging & generously give us charger BUT I don’t understand why they don’t do IP Ratings!!! 🤦🏻♂️😮💨🤷🏻♂️
I would have been worried that it missed the Gen3 but after using Gen3 phones that is a hotter chipset and it some phones I've covered throttles to SD8Gen2 levels so really we aren't missing out on much. I'm sure of course the next model N4 will have it and various other tweaks.
From what I have hear, if you want and you can, you should get the OnePlus Open. It's basically the same device but the software, that is almost the same, is a bit better.
I looked at a few and went for the Honor Magic V2. It feels like a standard candy bar phone. Has a solid camera array, similar to the Galaxy Fold. Great battery life (all Honor phones are excellent), and as I only buy a fold for the extra real estate, I have zero interest in software tricks, which the Honor has plenty of anyway. What seals the deal is that it is a UK phone with the support of two-years local warranty and with the deals I got £500 off with a good trade-in on top and a free set of £300 headphones (B&O). No deals for OPPO. Obviously, I ignored the Galaxy Fold 5 as I had the Fold 4 for six months and hated the front display, which killed my productivity and was very frustrating. This would be more relevant if it had an official UK release, but OPPO is not coming back until 2025 here so a pass for me.
It sure is the hardware is stunning but ColorOS I much better to use I feel and give this the upper hand. This Oppo also has better cameras over the Magic V2.
After putting the Oppo Find N3/OnePlus Open/Fold 5/Mix 3 and the Honor Magic V2 through their paces, I've opted for the Honor Magic V2. Its sleek, lightweight build and ergonomic design make it a winner for everyday use. Although the software isn't flawless, it has seen significant enhancements and is quite serviceable. Notably, the Honor Magic V2 boasts native Google services, a crucial advantage over the N3, which lacks EU availability for these services. The camera performance is similar if not superior, and the larger front screen adds to its appeal. The only feature I'll concede to Oppo is the physical mute switch; otherwise, the Honor Magic V2 excels in design, camera capabilities, and practicality. When it comes to overall package, the Honor Magic V2 emerges as the clear victor. I disagree with you on this one
I almost decide to go for the OnePlus Open which is the same as the Oppo N3. But coming from Huawei, I had to try the Honor V2 and I'm very happy. It's the same software, I can use the same chargers, it has nice cameras and I'm getting close to 10hr of screen time with adaptive refresh rate, and resolution, not maximum battery charge because I used only the smart charge option. That reduces the maximum battery time but keeps it healthier over the next few months. I like everything on the phone, I have a Mate 50 Pro too and I was thinking about the Mate 60 Pro or even the P60 Pro but I think this Honor V2 has everything I need software wise specially. I didn't want to give up on the native call recording, private space and the ability to kill data/wifi per app. Meaning I can totally block internet access on any app I don't want it to connect. I'm not sure this feature is available on Oppo/Oneplus but I'm sure it's not available on Samsung, Pixel and those kind of more mainstream brands.
The Huawei Magic V2 is great don't get.me wrong the design, the weight and how thin it is overall. But I just found after using both that ColorOS is better than MagicOS and that N3 has I think better cameras than the magic. Video is better which I use lot. But yes the call recording is very useful.
Guess what today I just got the Android 14 colorOS update and the N2 style works so both aren't even cons now! The real con is the price it's not cheap.
Using balanced mode or performance? If in performance it will heat up more but I've noticed the thermals to be great and the phone runs very cool compared to others.
I really really really feel disgusted by nowadays back cameras design for the smartphones! Big and clunchy! I don't need a camera with a phone! I need a phone with a dedent cameras! These big lens covered 40-45% of the back, it's horrible
I always buy laptops that have both USB-A and USB-C ports. Are you using an ultrabook without any USB-A ports? Other than that, there isn't any real difference.
@@elmarcentral because usb c is only a thing that made it so far only to laptops and phones- 99.9% of desktop tower pcs have 0 or at best 1 usb type c port- and thus usb a is here to stay for years to come while the desktop pc market relies on usb a ports

@mohammadahmed3352 honor has google services lol
Just awesome device. Oppo a sleeping giant on this category
Unfortunately, the price of N3 in NZ is much more expensive than in China.
There are a lot of people reporting dead pixels or straight-up broken displays if you google it. It's a shame.
The OnePlus Open which is basically the same and runs Oxygen is on Android 14 and has been for some time!
Yes which makes no sense to me why we are still on Android 13 with the Find N3.
@@TechtabletsEven the OnePlus pad is running Oxygen/Android 14.
Oppo has the best sharpest camera, best durability, fast charging & generously give us charger BUT I don’t understand why they don’t do IP Ratings!!! 🤦🏻♂️😮💨🤷🏻♂️
Late but still great! My only gripe with it is that it came out when Gen3 was just around the corner. Decided to skip it cause of that
I would have been worried that it missed the Gen3 but after using Gen3 phones that is a hotter chipset and it some phones I've covered throttles to SD8Gen2 levels so really we aren't missing out on much. I'm sure of course the next model N4 will have it and various other tweaks.
From what I have hear, if you want and you can, you should get the OnePlus Open.
It's basically the same device but the software, that is almost the same, is a bit better.
Yes basically exactly the same just software.
Works on verizon, if anyone is wondering in the US
I looked at a few and went for the Honor Magic V2.
Honor magic v2 is very nice
It sure is the hardware is stunning but ColorOS I much better to use I feel and give this the upper hand. This Oppo also has better cameras over the Magic V2.
Bro this video is about oppo, not honor 😅
@@modestman6753 Read the thumbnail the best fold.
I disagree with you on this one
the only way any foldable can beat this phone is via software. letdown by the software
Still I feel it's better than MagicOS with the Magic V2.
Oneplus open and oppo find n3 are the same
More or less yes same hardware yes.
Can't beat Samsung dex. Until a rival, I'll stick to my fold 4.
True Samsung Dex is very good but this hardware is so much better and colorOS runs well.
i like it
This is the oneplus open's brother 👍👍😊
More like father
True!
I can honestly live with those two cons, no problem
Guess what today I just got the Android 14 colorOS update and the N2 style works so both aren't even cons now! The real con is the price it's not cheap.
@@Techtablets 😮
Yes so that's great the real con now is the price of it.
Not recommended for gaming...been playing genshin impact...it gets really hot and throttled after that...
Using balanced mode or performance? If in performance it will heat up more but I've noticed the thermals to be great and the phone runs very cool compared to others.
ColorOs 14. 0 in Thailand
Ha after this review I got the Android 14 update.
good review but I can't afford this.
Oppo has the least creases of all foldable phone.
Yes but now the Magic V3 arrived.
Only a USB-A to C cable from a premium phone is robbery.
How about no cable or charger from a "premium" phone,,ie,, Samsung, apple Sony,,etc,,
What's that?
Something that Apple can't produce never ever 😆
I really really really feel disgusted by nowadays back cameras design for the smartphones! Big and clunchy! I don't need a camera with a phone! I need a phone with a dedent cameras! These big lens covered 40-45% of the back, it's horrible
Yes the lens or their covers are huge now.
Top top
I don't think I could switch to a foldable as my daily driver from a Galaxy Ultra.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Are people really ok with the USB A on the charger? I know it's a proprietary technology, but why not USB C to USB C?
So outdated...
usb a is the standard so you can use same cable to connect it to pc for mtp or reflashing the stock firmware in case of issues
@@vtbbbnk why not apply that same logic to USB C then? It's a more modern standard.
I always buy laptops that have both USB-A and USB-C ports. Are you using an ultrabook without any USB-A ports? Other than that, there isn't any real difference.
@@MienLeHoang USB C is a superior and more versatile standard, that's all. And yes, some modern devices only have USB C.
@@elmarcentral because usb c is only a thing that made it so far only to laptops and phones- 99.9% of desktop tower pcs have 0 or at best 1 usb type c port- and thus usb a is here to stay for years to come while the desktop pc market relies on usb a ports
Don'T buy chinese phone! Seriously they are dangerous.
Dangerous how so?
@@Techtabletsthey spy on you. And no after sales service.
Everyone spys, look at the CIA with iPhones and Android etc. Okay yes for the service if it's an import but if it's local you should be fine.
