- Do you remember the yarn that I managed to dye pink, when I was trying to turn it blue? I finally managed to knit it up into a 1920s cardigan!

As someone who can crochet really well, but couldnt even attempt knitting to save my life, im really excited for historical crochet!
That turned out beautifully. I have a hard time looking at pictures of vintage knits and trying to imagine what they will look like IRL and how awesome they can be.
So fun to see another Combined knitter!

Oh man I love a good knitting in one piece! I too am not a huge fan of seaming/sewing up knits, but I understand the appeal of it. More shaping makes it more fitted, more room to expand on the base knitted garment, and such forth. I think the only downside to knitting the entire body in one go is just that it can make it baggy/somewhat shapeless depending on the planned construction (ie Neringa Ruke's Balloon-sleeve cardigan). I'm very glad yours came out lovely! I hope your recipient enjoys it too! :)
In the UK a cardigan has an opening down the front with buttons for fastening. No front opening, pull over the head to get it on - that's called a pullover. A sweater is American word meaning jumper but more recent times it can be with a zip opening.

I am surprised at how great that different collar color looks. The cardigan is gorgeous and I think the short sleeves might even look better!

The construction of the body is very "modern", but all the sewing for the buttonbands is exactly what my grandmother used to do (I prefer to knit them along the body, but it has not the same firmness). That color 😍😍😍. Congratulations!

This is one of your videos that I rewatch all the time. It's so lovely and soothing and the resulting sweater is so fantastic. I'm so jealous that you can knit the pattern sizes as is. I have to grade them way way up and the experimenting takes a lot of yarn for not necessarily a reliable result 😕

That cardigan is so beautiful. I live in Napier NZ which is the Art Deco capital. This weekend just passed was Art Deco weekend, where everyone dresses up on their 1920’s gear. Your short sleeved version would have been perfect for the hot weather here. Lovely colour too, so soft and pretty. 🥰
I must admit that the very early 20th century is not so much my thing, I'm more of a mid century chap. However, I am amazed at the quality of your knitted garments. It is simply wonderful to see such creativity! Please keep making your videos as they are a delight to watch.

I love this color and also the style of the cardigan. I would be afraid to try and duplicate your accident, though. And I do have lots of woad growning in fields nearby. I have pH test paper, but extremely hard water, full of minerals. Guess I'll stick with commercial dye. The fiber I have the most of us angora rabbit yarn from my own bunnies. I think that collar would be amazing in that. Maybe the whole garment. Where might I find instructions for the blue color? I love indigo too. In fact I would choose these 2 colors from a vast array of colors. I wear so much soft pink & various depths of indigo, people tease me about it.

I'm reknitting a 1939 or 1940 short sleeve jumper that I made last year, but it was too big. The green white sweater that you wear in some pictures seems very familiar to me, I must have the pattern some where in my collection.

Since you asked, I don't think you were mattress stitching the side seams together - I'm not sure what the stitch you were using is called, either. (Mattress stitch is worked from the front and involves going under single strands of yarn with the needle parallel to the seam.)
It looked like she was just using whip stitch but I couldn't see enough of the sewing on the side seams confirm it. That's definitely what she was using on the button bands though.

I switch between continental and English knitting, crochet and sewing as that is a knitter’s worst nightmare.
Watching this telling my self this is my next project, get to the sleeves and I’m like nope maybe not, I can’t use dpns.
I purchased 12" circulars and use those for sleeves. They work great!

Hi I noticed you knit your knit stitches front to back in the back loop, so like the stitches are twisted differently on your left hand needle than what I suppose is the"normal" way of knitting? I just noticed it and was wondering about the whys and how
I noticed that she knits through the back loop too and that all the stitches are twisted. I was curious if she was doing that on purpose or that's how she knits (there is no wrong way, I think!) I love to watch how other people knit.
I’m not sure that the stitches are twisted she might always net through the back loop instead of the front like in Portuguese knitting
