Funny after season 6. We all know it is not Fear Dimension. He even call himself "stupid" the way he thinking. Daisy get mad but they need her power after this defeating Shrikes. Doctor Fitz maybe evil but he was right.

But because he always brings the most emotion in his scenes. The audience always responds well to his acting. So well that the episodes where he is the main or big focus, there is a lot more online buzz and fan attention. Not every actor has such amazing acting skills. Lots of actors are "good" or "great" but very few are "brilliant." That's the big difference. Not sure what I can say if you think he is just one of the "100s" of other actors. Other than you are free to your opinion. I just think many fans will disagree. He is a rare gem of an actor.

Anyhow, I think it is a matter of opinion and at no point did I want to judge him as an actor. Personally, I would go so far to say that proba ly no actor deserves an emmy in eye for their performance as a Marvel character, not because of their acting but lack of what they are given. Most is action related, a fair portion soap and some rare parts in between feel like demanding character acting. I like Christian Bale in Batman and he is considered a great actor and I would agree but I would not give him an emmy for batman. Nor RDJ for Tony Stark no matter how well he pulled that of and center he became to the MCU and he is arguably the best developed character in all of the MCU movies. I actually like the MCU series for giving their characters more time but and shot at depth of character - just not enough to really show off their acting skills extensively, I'd say. After all, an Emmy is just about the biggest claim to recognition of skill the US industry has to offer and choose between thousands of actors, some with way more opportunity to demonstrate their acting abilities than marvel characters get. So, that was why I said it :-)
I know everyone is talking about Ian's acting, but can we talk about how great the writing is? The writers really put us in for a feel fest this season.
I don't know if the writers intended this or not, but I recently had a thought. After they get out of the Framework, Fitz is horrified at the things he did. Jemma tries to convince him that it wasn't him, but a seprate person. Ergo why we have Fitz and the Doctor. BUT realize that Fitz wasn't really afraid of the Doctor. He was afraid of becoming the doctor. He was afraid that he was no different than him. Which makes the twist SO much better. Because his fear DID come true and he WAS the doctor. And the best part is that he accepted the fear and made it apart of him.
I realized something, it's not the first time we see Fitz talking to himself and seing things. It was foreshadowed in S2 when we realize he was talking to himself the whole time and Jemma wasn't even there. Except now he has a dark personna and split personnality like a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde kind of thing going on.
i've been rewatching the whole show for the third time, and i'll be honest, the first couple times i thought the whole Doctor subplot in the framework was kinda unnecessary, like a weird villain that could sometimes come back just to mess with people? felt like a bad plot device. But this past time I've been watching it... the amount of moments that really lead up to Fitz's break is really astounding. Especially the end of season 1, beginning of season 2. The more people hurt him, he starts to feel it more and it effects him. I think the Doctor thing might come from his dad, sure, but I think it also comes from a lot of other times he's been betrayed, especially within the timeframe of the show.

It’s not a split in his psyche. This is fitz real self finally manifesting. He’s not the doctor and he’s not “fitz” from the first few seasons, he’s something in the middle of the two. This is him finally accepting it
Technically Fitz always had the doctor inside him. You can see it in season 1 when he discovers Ward is Hydra, season 3 when he is with the Arabic guy and with the rock, season 4 with Doctor Radcliff. He always had the doctor but Fitz was always stronger than Leopold. So this is magnificent

I come back and watch this scene time and again, and every single time, I am amazed by Iain's performance. In my opinion, he is, without a doubt, the best actor in the Marvel Universe, and along with Viola Davis and Jharrel Jerome, he is one of the most skilled actors to ever have graced my tv screen. Trough seven years, he has played almost seven different characters. In the first season, I wrote Fitz off as just another geeky character, I never imagined, that he would become my absolute favorite character on AOS. I hope to see more of Iain either on the big or small screen.
To this day, Evil Fitz is the baddest, absolute worst villain from Marvel. This guy was sadistic af, worse than Zemo or Thanos. At least those two only killed when they thought it was necessary or when it was for the greater good. Evil Fitz? Wanted to return with hive because, as the writers already explained, her being brainwashed by him was the equivalent of a drug addict going through withdrawal and 3. Left because she really believed that being on her own would protect her from anymore pain after she lost both per parents and the love her life, which makes sense given that unlike everyone else on the team, she spent most of her life all on her own without any bonds to care about and then when she finally starts to make them, three are ripped from her. This isn’t a trauma competition. Besides, usually assaulting someone will land you locked up somewhere. Daisy herself even asked to be locked up when she was freed from hive until they were absolutely sure she was free from his control. She’s trained to be a soldier. Soldiers don’t have the flexibility to hug and make up if one of their own betrays them
I wish the show didn’t spend so much trying to tie in the movies from the beginning. The show became so much more interesting when they started doing their own thing. Thankfully it ended on a good note.

We all know that Ian is FANTASTIC in this and everything that he does but can we just appreciate Chloe for a second? Honestly had to take a break in between the scene because her screams where so heartbreaking. Outstanding performance!
Who can really blame Fitz with all that they’ve been through, it’s a wonder none of the rest of the team had a psychic break. The actor though! He’s done a great job in every season of Agents of Shield.
only now realising how horrific this was for Daisy. I wish the show talked about the effects this had on her, or even brought it up after this. I can’t imagine someone violating you like this then soon after you have to go across the galaxy to try and save his life. So much of the characters’ treatment of Daisy was just messed up over the course of the seasons.

The Doctor *was* an apparition from the Fear Dimension, but instead of taking a physical form, he manifested, or for a better term, reemerged in Fitz's Psyche.
iain's acting is absolutely phenomenal in this scene, but can we take a sec to appreciate elizabeth and chloe's acting too? like damn the bus kids grew up
I’m just grossed out but amazed how the Kree managed to get those wires into the brains and remote control it.. the thing is I get frustrated with how they lacked the common sense to grab the remote control at the fighting arena... I rewatched it again and saw they all certainly had a few seconds to grab that first out of the Kree’s hand / reach. I mean all that show off of power is moot if they can shut off by remote. I think the Daisy character is played in a stupid way because the remote would be the first thing I’d go for meaning- take the opportunity as one hand to fly up, one hand blast the person away from the remote & grab it when they turn allow/my powers on.

The Fitz from Season 5 is someone I think even Ward would be scared of. He was genuinely disturbed by how cutthroat Simmons had become after the fall of SHIELD despite the fact that of the two he was the emotionally unstable murderer. It was because he met them when they were innocent kids.
I really love in stories when a character has a kind of evil doppelganger of sorts. Someone who is the opposite of the character by the way they act and think. Sometimes they are just that, and are an enemy needed to be thwarted, but other times it might be a representation of all the negative things about the character. For example there's this game called Celeste where you play as a girl called Madeline who really wants to climb a mountain, but then this other part of her is unleashed. And this other part of her is a manifestation of her mental illness and negative thoughts. Madeline (who has depression and anxiety) tries to push it away, thinking she'll be happier without it, but she realises her mistakes and comes to terms with who she is, and accepts herself. Fitz to me is kind of similar, but also extremely different to anything I've seen. The Doctor is Fitz. He just grew up differently in a different world meaning he has different beliefs. I'm not really good at character analysis or articulating my thoughts into words but I just really love this whole twist thingy. I thought that The Doctor was just another one of those fear creatures. I haven't finished watching season 5 yet but I don't expect Fitz to accept himself as The Doctor because he was horrible and hurt people, but The Doctor's way of thinking seemed to have helped to far as restoring Daisy's powers helped to move the gravitoneum to seal the rift and there would be no way that anyone in the team would ever try to do that otherwise, even if they knew it worked. There's more I'd like to say but yeah I can't really put it into words I just really love the "trope" (I'm not sure if I used the right word there) of an "evil" version of a nice character
If I remember correctly he is not medically trained. Certainly shows her, I mean brilliant or not but anybody could have cut her head open and pull that thing out the way he did

He didn’t even know that he was the one doing all this for most of the episode and when he finally realized the truth, he was forced to carry out his plan by his alternate personality holding his wife at gunpoint. If this shit was in a courtroom, Fitz absolutely would be declared not guilty by reason of insanity. What happened here was twelve kinds of fucked up, but fitz’s mental state is so screwed up right now that he literally legally is not responsible for his actions. Yes the whole trusting him again after this is a bit iffy, but you can’t call him a monster for finally losing his mind after years of indescribable trauma. So like, fuck you serena. Fuck you right in the face.

Who they where in the past is Not their true self just because it is how you remember them. I hate it If things get excused by trauma, it is just one Factor and when you reached the point where your free choices turn out like that, there is no way to mend that person anymore. He was aware he was allone, He could No longer hide behind the dissoziation of an alternate persona, but he still did it, it was all Fitz at that point. His deliberate choice . . . I cried for the Fitz of the past who never would have done that, but for the one of the present I only hold mistrust. Trauma dies not excuse all. Instincts absolutely, leaving people to die while running in fear. Hideing or lashing out. But what he did was no act of instinct, He needed to plan that, against resistance knowing no one but him is responsable but He went on. He truely belived he did the right thing! There where so many concious thoughts involved, delibered choices! It might be caused by trauma, but that is the person he turned out to be!!! There is nothing left anymore to sympathise with . . . I wish the show didn’t spend so much trying to tie in the movies from the beginning. The show became so much more interesting when they started doing their own thing. Thankfully it ended on a good note.

It was renewed for a (shorter) 6th season, and I guess it'll come out in January. Not sure though. They were still shooting like in August I think.

For some reason I had a sort of feeling akin to sadistic glee when fitz broke and turned on everyone. I loved him as the doctor in this.
Who can really blame Fitz with all that they’ve been through, it’s a wonder none of the rest of the team had a psychic break. The actor though! He’s done a great job in every season of Agents of Shield.

only now realising how horrific this was for Daisy. I wish the show talked about the effects this had on her, or even brought it up after this. I can’t imagine someone violating you like this then soon after you have to go across the galaxy to try and save his life. So much of the characters’ treatment of Daisy was just messed up over the course of the seasons.

I’m just grossed out but amazed how the Kree managed to get those wires into the brains and remote control it..
the thing is I get frustrated with how they lacked the common sense to grab the remote control at the fighting arena... I rewatched it again and saw they all certainly had a few seconds to grab that first out of the Kree’s hand / reach.
I mean all that show off of power is moot if they can shut off by remote. I think the Daisy character is played in a stupid way because the remote would be the first thing I’d go for meaning- take the opportunity as one hand to fly up, one hand blast the person away from the remote & grab it when they turn allow/my powers on.

The Fitz from Season 5 is someone I think even Ward would be scared of. He was genuinely disturbed by how cutthroat Simmons had become after the fall of SHIELD despite the fact that of the two he was the emotionally unstable murderer. It was because he met them when they were innocent kids.

I really love in stories when a character has a kind of evil doppelganger of sorts. Someone who is the opposite of the character by the way they act and think. Sometimes they are just that, and are an enemy needed to be thwarted, but other times it might be a representation of all the negative things about the character.
For example there's this game called Celeste where you play as a girl called Madeline who really wants to climb a mountain, but then this other part of her is unleashed. And this other part of her is a manifestation of her mental illness and negative thoughts. Madeline (who has depression and anxiety) tries to push it away, thinking she'll be happier without it, but she realises her mistakes and comes to terms with who she is, and accepts herself.
Fitz to me is kind of similar, but also extremely different to anything I've seen. The Doctor is Fitz. He just grew up differently in a different world meaning he has different beliefs. I'm not really good at character analysis or articulating my thoughts into words but I just really love this whole twist thingy. I thought that The Doctor was just another one of those fear creatures.
I haven't finished watching season 5 yet but I don't expect Fitz to accept himself as The Doctor because he was horrible and hurt people, but The Doctor's way of thinking seemed to have helped to far as restoring Daisy's powers helped to move the gravitoneum to seal the rift and there would be no way that anyone in the team would ever try to do that otherwise, even if they knew it worked.
There's more I'd like to say but yeah I can't really put it into words I just really love the "trope" (I'm not sure if I used the right word there) of an "evil" version of a nice character

The real question is, how can anyone ever trust him again after this, how can they still care for him . . . there is litteraly no excuse even in the slightest, the writters turned him into a monster
Oh bull fucking shit. Fitz had a fucking psychotic break. He didn’t even know that he was the one doing all this for most of the episode and when he finally realized the truth, he was forced to carry out his plan by his alternate personality holding his wife at gunpoint. If this shit was in a courtroom, Fitz absolutely would be declared not guilty by reason of insanity. What happened here was twelve kinds of fucked up, but fitz’s mental state is so screwed up right now that he literally legally is not responsible for his actions. Yes the whole trusting him again after this is a bit iffy, but you can’t call him a monster for finally losing his mind after years of indescribable trauma. So like, fuck you serena. Fuck you right in the face.

@@samp584 the true Fitz, that is the true Fitz at this point. What you mean is your nostalgic rememberance of the Fitz of the past. Everyone growes up, no one stays the same. Skye does not exist anylonger, frail and shy Jemma does not exist anylonger. They experienced Trauma and grew harder to be able to cope with that. Who they where in the past is Not their true self just because it is how you remember them.
I hate it If things get excused by trauma, it is just one Factor and when you reached the point where your free choices turn out like that, there is no way to mend that person anymore. He was aware he was allone, He could No longer hide behind the dissoziation of an alternate persona, but he still did it, it was all Fitz at that point. His deliberate choice . . . I cried for the Fitz of the past who never would have done that, but for the one of the present I only hold mistrust. Trauma dies not excuse all. Instincts absolutely, leaving people to die while running in fear. Hideing or lashing out.
But what he did was no act of instinct, He needed to plan that, against resistance knowing no one but him is responsable but He went on. He truely belived he did the right thing! There where so many concious thoughts involved, delibered choices! It might be caused by trauma, but that is the person he turned out to be!!! There is nothing left anymore to sympathise with . . . He can Not either

Fitz has been through so much trauma, including brain damage and yeah it changed him, but he’s still the same but just has more darkness. Whether we like it or not. He did what needed to be done and saved the world, he could have done it another way but they were running out of time
