Update: Canon TR8620 is a base off the TR8520 with enhancements that increase printing speed. Thus, I just got the TR8620 because I wanted the latest for photo printing and larger ink capacity. After nearly 5 years, my MX922 died, no power up, not even power lights. Q: Do you sell MX922 power supply? Please PM me, if so, how much? I also took up your offer to get ink because the ink in the box are regular capacity. I like the XL and XXL better. Please send me a reminder in a few weeks for my experience with the TR8620. The rear paper tray on mine stopped reading envelopes all of a sudden and keeps reverting to photo 3x5 so now I can't print envelopes. The top paper tray only sporadically performs document feed printing even after the paper is read and registered by the printer; It scans on flatbed instead. Also, the paper output rack is very rickety. When it prints right it's great and photo printing is beautiful.
How do we do wireless faxing ? And instead of repeating yourself 3-5 times, how about printing off a copy so we can actully see how fast it is & hear how noisy it is.
Thats a good question as thats an issue I currently have with my printer, its a pain in the neck not being about to print black and white just because one of the colours are empty.
I bought this printer for all the same reasons that you outline in your review. However, i get an annoying Error code Support Code 140B suggesting an issue with my print head. Seriously? I' just unboxed it. How can that be? Can you or anyone help?
I believe that is the error you get if you haven't removed the tape securing the print head for transportation. Open it up and make sure the orange tape has been removed.

I purchased this printer yesterday 5/17/19 - it's turning itself off at night - I have to manually hit the power button to print wirelessly from the next room. Suggestions?
Under the default installation, it shuts off completely after 4 hours. You can go into the power management settings and configure the option to use the automatic setting. This will allow it to automatically turn itself back on.

Amazon says this TR8520 replaces the MX922, I had that one, I paid $99 for it 4 yrs ago, now Amazon wants $269? why do they go up in price? It's nuts. For $99. it looks like a great deal. I'm assuming they last 4 yrs and then you dump them. Unbelievable
THE MX922 has not been made for a while. However, it is so much better than any current product that the vendors that have any left in stock are charging that much for them
I just bought this printer and the 1 thing I hate & makes me wish I wouldn't have bought it is the having to have the front open all of the time to print. Its quite annoying. You have to leave the front open all of the time. Just another way for dust to get inside of your printer. If you don't keep the door open and you want to print something from your phone, you can't get it printed because it faults it out. Other than that, I like it.

I'm going to plug the printer into my Lenovo Ideapad 110. I first have to find out whether the printer and laptop are compatible. I'm a writer and I'm only going to print out the book I'm writing. No photos, just 99.9% text. Print speed won't be an issue. You didn't mention in your review about a USB cable. I Goggled and found out there is a port on the rear left side. Before I buy anything, I will need to see it in person. If I like what I see, I will buy it. B&H is selling it for $200.00, which isn't an issue for me. Thank you for your review and take care.
It does have a port for Type A to Type B USB cable. I use it with my Lenovo X1 Carbon and I suspect you would have no issues with your Lenovo. The printer does have advanced security features for printing wirelessly or you can use the memory card port to transfer directly until you buy a cable (around $6 on Amazon).
Automatic Document Feeder (“ADF”) is a completely useless joke. Returning mine soon via Amazon. There were bad reviews re the ADF - I should have taken note... Today I noticed Amazon just lowered the price, probably because people are finding out about the problematic ADF and are continually returning this printer.

Very poor quality video over head lights caused glare over printer. Not much information regarding setup. Didn’t go over functions at all. Have. Watched other videos far better than this one.
@@I_Ace pretty bad mate. It has major problems printing from more than one printer at a time (by major problems, i mean it won't do it). Setting up the online scanner was a nightmare, and you have to manually pull out the little print tray (don't know what it's called) every time you open it, otherwise it'll spit out on the floor. Also, ink for this bad boy is only sold in some stores, not regular grocery/convenience stores (i.e. woolies) If you're going for a home printer, try and find an MG4500, the one that I had lasted years, great printer.

As you probably know by now, the large black does document printing. The small black is for photo enhancement.

You should have printed a few pages in black/white and color to show the viewers.
