The Canon TR8520 is virtually identical to the new TR8620. The retail price has gone up for the new model, so I would highly suggest trying to find the TR8520, as it can save you some money over the TR8620.

Cannon US based phone support is EXCELLENT and is why I kept the 8620. HP only offers email support :( Epson has Phillipine phone support but after 3.5 hours they could not get their app to work with my phone and blame it on my internet :(
I just bought a TR8620; I hope their phone help is better than their online help which SUCKS big time.
Just bought a PIXMA TR8620 (BLACK). Gonna try another set up with corrections to the flap in front and head line up sheet in back, thanks for the tutorial, solves serious setup issues Canon just doe'snt seem to open up ideas to correct customer service.

Will this printer be able to take cardstock? I'm using 100lb cardstock for cards this year.
Yes, it can. The rear feeder is great for thicker paper, and it works great for cardstock and photo paper.
17:55 wish you didn’t cut during editing & showed how “printed from phone”.....instead of seeing it print the photo.
Did you have errors/issues, need the canon app; or did just click share on photo & then print (selected the canon printer, & it than printed fine from your WiFi network w(o canon app?).

I was able to print from my phone with Apple AirPrint, when the printer and my phone were connected to the same WiFi network. I did not need to use the Canon app. We have not had any issues so far with the printer.

I have a question, not a comment. My Daughter in Law gave me a TR8620a but the language is set to Spanish. Do you know how can I reset it to English? Your video on the initial setup is great. Thank you, Rory

I have the the TR8620. What black ink cartridge should I replace in order to keep printing in black? I will not need color when it runs out. Do I need both blacks or one of them? Thanks.
I’m having a hard time understanding how I can get a full copy of a legal size document. I put it into the ADF but the final document did not have all the information on it. Also is the paper trays supposed to be attached to the bottom of this printer or just sits on the table underneath. I think I am missing something here.

It is a wood floor that has a glossy looking finish. We also have the non-glossy looking version in other parts of the house. It was installed in 2007, and somewhat refurbished in 2017 when we had the kitchen remodeled. When remodeling the kitchen they essentially moved the planks around and cut them to size. I am pretty sure that the model is discontinued. I am also unsure of the manufacturer and color. I will say that we have had a lot of people over who do like the floor for some reason. I just got my tr8620 and I am trying to connect it wirelessly. I am unable to enter the password for my modem because the symbol keys on the printer screen keypad are blank. Is there a fix for that?

Hi..I purchased this printer TR8622 Walmart. Neither the included manual or online manual mention anything about the device located top left of the printer. What is its purpose? When I slide paper in there the machine beeps...but beyond that can't figure out what to do with it?
Never mind..discovered it is the auto document feeder. Strange not mentioned in manuals. (or I missed that too!)

Thanks for posting this video. I was able to follow and set up my printer. Do you have detailed instructions on how to use the scanner? I am trying to attach the scan to email, but instead of asking me for email address, local USB? It also says "set the PC to start scanning".

What is frustrating is that this printer goes to sleep so before printing I have to enable Wi-Fi EVERY time by I often have to do on my 6 year old Hp Envy. I guess this is common with most printers :/
Does photo paper have to be loaded from the rear paper feeder instead of the front tray? I noticed there was no downloading of software to a computer.
Yes, the photo paper does need to be fed from the rear feeder. That is definitely a limitation of this printer, as the rear feeder is very small. To print from my computer, after the video, I did download the software from Canon’s website. The software’s setup process took much longer than I had expected. However, it is possible that the basic driver for this printer is already build into Windows, but that is unlikely as Canon usually wants everyone to download all of the Canon bundled software to their computer. If you want a printer with an easier computer setup process, then I would recommend an HP, as when connecting to the printer with the HP Smart app, it only takes a few minutes.

Good video but to me buying ink cartridges is a lot money. Make sure you print often so heads don’t dry out.

At the moment, Canon does not list any drivers on their website for new Apple MacBooks. Their website states that you may not need a driver, or that it may already be built in. I would say that it is unlikely that it would work. I would suggest trying to install the HP Smart app to see if that will work on your computer. If it does, then nearly every new HP printer model should work with your computer. Have a great rest of your day!

The document feeder only safely handles 7 pages in my experience.
This may seem picky, but were you able to clean that nice table ( you have a nice house). Also, when your brother photo-bombed your video you showed a lot of patience...I think your family is a lot more psychologically sound than mine and I wish I was in your family. I was going to buy this printer for $129 @ Staples but it was out of stock. (Some places have it for $179 now but that is a little too expensive) I was hoping some printers would be on sale for Black Friday. I like Canon and will keep my eyes open for the replacement model to the TR 8520 or the TS 8320. Thanks for the excellent and informative video.
Question: Does your printer go into sleep mode and you need to press the screen to wake it up before printing?
It will turn the screen off automatically a few minuets after use. If you need to print, you do not need to tap the screen. However, after many hours of not using it, it will power off. Then you would need to turn it back on with the power button. If you want one that does not turn off automatically, then you might want to go for an HP or Epson printer, as most of those do not turn off automatically. Have a nice rest of your day!

0:52 $150!? I paid $100 for the same printer last year at Staples. I shopped online there and used Honey to save an additional $10, which really costed us $95 all together with taxes.
I believe the printer market is high due to Covid-19. The price for the printer may also be high because of the reliability. I had no issues using this printer to print, scan, copy, and fax. The touch screen makes it user friendly for everyone to use. I am a technical geek that troubleshoots printers and computers, and I can confirm that nobody asked me to help look into the problems because the screen shows how to solve them on your own.
That is a great point. Recently printers have been hard to find, and even harder to find on sale. To find this printer I had to go to 6 different stores before I found it in stock at Target. Now the printers are finally going on some sales again, but usually not more than $30 off. Have a great rest of your weekend!

Sadly with this printer you can’t. It does not have a USB port on it.

I HATE this printer - it's ridiculous to have a front AND back paper load - so when you want to use legal size paper you have to pull it away from the wall, which almost always causes the catty-cornered plug to detach. Then, when I pulled up the back panel it came OUT of the slider slots - and I can't get it back in to save my life!!! For this reason - I now get an error code that the back panel is open - and it won't print in front!! I've called Canon support - was on hold the last 20 minutes - & gave up.

What's the difference between the 8520 and the 8620?
From what I can tell, the only difference is that the TR8520 includes a free sample pack of photo paper, that the TR8620 does not have. That appears to be the only difference. The printers themselves are identical. You may be able to find TR8520 printers at a lower cost though. Have a great rest of your day!
@@evandrinks i believe one difference between them, is that the 8620 has a memory card reader on the front panel whereas the 8520 does not.

You could contact Canon, if your printer needs servicing. They may direct you to a nearby service center, or you may need to Mail your printer in. Certain Canon CarePAK service plans and warranties also may include next day servicing on location.
