This rehearsal really showcases so much. How he can lead the band and make it fun. How he can jump from incredible rhythm guitar to solos and other riffs. Amazing ad lib vocals. And everyone else is just right in it. In the pocket. Yaaaassssss! That’s where some of us live. One the one. I like the album track just fine. But this rehearsal blows it away.
Lost, I hope so. This is what we need. In a world full of cold machines and even colder humans, we could use a few helpings of some warm and funky food for the soul.
Am I just old and cynical or does this rehearsal simply sound better than a million impersonators could ever hope to achieve after a year's worth of overdubs in the studio?

Prince in the studio...master blaster...children...keep it tight...make it funky a little dirty & jamming...make it sticky...make the music like u don't ever want it 2 end...make it forever...slamming...with a little soul clap...bass guitar drums organ...oh yeah....fresh & straight out the oven...take it up...wa wa
Pay attention youngins' , THIS is how you run a band through it's paces during a full rehearsal! The Master is going through the band section by section to see what if anything needs tightening up, encourages a little improvisation from each, polishes that up, goes in a few other directions to make sure they're on their toes and keeping the beat/timing.......and, wait a minute.... Ya'll don't play instruments anymore, ya'll PROGRAM every goddamn thing.....fuck it, never mind!
Bishop you nailed it brother! Prince is working his band up to his level of expectations and expertise in their playing, this rehearsal is masterful. And they are GETTING DOWN this improvising should have been on his album. This is incredible. This band is funky!
Like an All Star point guard or QB, Prince is dishing and passing the groove like a true MVP! Love it, will there EVER be another player like him? How many people can play BY THEMSELVES everything his band members are playing upon instruction? Drums, Keyboards, Voices, Bass, and Guitar? Insert him into anyone of them!
