I've always had a Google Chromecast since they very first came out and I've always upgraded every time a new one came out and even to this day with the new Chromecast with Google TV. Even though it has a remote, I still sometimes cast stuff from my phone if I'm watching something on it before I sit down in my living room

I love the Chromecast, great idea and I have been a supporter of all the models released especially Chromecast Audio. I am disappointed that Google didn't continue development especially with Audio, IMO they missed a trick here. But the protocol still exists and that we do have Google to thank for

I have the latest version of the Chromecast (Google actually sent it to me for free when I signed up for TH-cam TV). But I have never really found the casting system to be beneficial over regular streaming on my Roku. The latest Chromecast serves double duty for casting as well as a standard streaming box, but it feels underpowered and sluggish when in use.

I use a chromecast and have for over a decade now. I would rather use my phone as a remote because it gives me options that the Google remote just doesn't especially in the query list where I can jump around to what ever I want to watch. Use this thing many hours a day. I do agree though that it jas problems that have continued without any fixes by Google.

I have the newest Chromecast with Google TV and the overall experience has been great the only weird issue I had was with connecting earbuds. For some reason, when I connect my pixel buds pro, the audio sounds great for a while, but then it starts to cut out and glitch so bad, that it makes the earbuds unusable. I don't have a problem with my pixel buds with any other device and I tried connecting my galaxy buds 2 instead and I never had this problem with those. Very strange.

I have 4 Chromecasts. Google have really messed up the platform in the last year. TH-cam casting is inconsistent, with videos stopping after casting, requiring you to uncast and then reconnect after videos, and Twitch now casts at 480p or 720p randomly instead of just defaulting to 1080p like it always used to. They've screwed up the functionality. If it doesn't get fixed, I will never buy another Google product, app on the play store, or any subscription ever again.

Simply put you can take your apps with you. For example if you buy a Samsung TV with its Tizen software and buya bunch of apps on it then go Sony for example all your apps you paid for wont be on your new tv and be locked into the older TV. A dongle fixes that and you can always upgrade the dongle later and keep your paid apps.

These days, most cheap TVs have smart features built into them, so this device really only exists for special use cases, such as my parents.

My biggest gripe is that they pushed the TH-cam TV app onto the Ultra, but wouldn't allow us to sign in, making the app functionally useless and degraded experience, esp. for TH-cam Premium subscribers, who were forced to watch ads if you used the TV app navigation to select a video, and the massive banner ads that dominated the screen.
And the lack of a timeout on the TH-cam TV app means that we lost access to ambient mode every time we accessed TH-cam.

I agree with several points in this video, but "dead" is an false understatement. The Chromecast With Google TV 4K is still the best TV box in the market especially in terms of value. Despite its flaws and shortcomings, I would pick a Chromecast over Roku, Amazon and even Apple all day.
Google should pause their "move to a better idea" philosophy and refined their current idea especially the Chromecast tech alone. I hate that the Chrome Browser (Android) still doesn't work with casting devices. But, through Windows... It works seamlessly well. It doesn't make sense. Even the Chromecast Audio should come back and this is the best time to do so.

wtf..? Chromecast didn't feel any sort of void.. there was Miracast. Miracast worked great.. and didn't limit me to just streaming content from an app it was much more versatile than their Chromecast bullshit. it had its flaws, but over the next decade, I guarantee you it would have been flawless. I still use it on my laptop regularly to get a second screen out of my TV.
then I got a Pixel "smart"phone. they removed the Miracast option from the Android operating system and started pushing this inferior cast product. ridiculous. they adopted the Apple mentality.. purposefully grandfathering functional features as a method of forcing consumers to buy more Google products and get locked into their ecosystem.. pixel was the first Google phone I bought and the last.. went back to Samsung after that. happy to use their caste system to cast to any goddamn thing I want including Miracast.
and their Chromecast HD, complete BS. had potential, but have never been able to watch a TH-cam video on it. choppy as hell. absolutely no sound comes out of it sometimes. ridiculous.
and now they're going to release another one?
You influencers have just become another marketing cog for these tech companies. you're afraid to actually lay real and true and deserved criticism because of a fear of getting on their bad side? inexcusable man. I'm sure you guys want your free this and free that. but these videos, this content in which you're making apologies for them.. and conveniently forgetting their history of screwing people that buy their products..? inexcusable.
this video in which you seem giddy that they're going to ignore all the problems that their current users are experiencing with the products they foolishly bought and instead release a completely brand new product which I'm guessing is going to deal with the problems we all have. so what do we do, throughout the old one and buy another one from them..? not happening.
letting them off the hook is just too easy.. they don't deserve that.. we deserve better.

Smart TVs have come down in price in the last ten years but there is a market for these. I have one and use it daily and have for the last 5 years. It is great to watch a movie or several but also just to stream live TV. When there is nothing interesting on the TV I use the cast to cast live TV and watch channels and shows I want to watch. It is one of their greatest products and S,art TVs often are proprietary devices and the apps they have will stop getting updates. When that happens that Smart TV is then just a TV as those apps won't work with the APIs anymore. A Chromecast is a quick and useful fix to make a now dumb TV into a Smart TV again.

Fuchsia OS's future is in doubt. It feels like people who are working at Google don't care about the Google Ecosystem and don't actually use them.
