Saw this back in the day. Soul Train is one of those tunes that drops down to the bottom of the sea of your mind. Once in a rare while it just resurfaces, then you remember just how damn cool it was.
This group really had something special , not sure if I have these on my own VHS recordings , but this is good quality. Still waiting till I retire to look through them and upload hopefully !
Nice add, a valuable add at that! Good on ya for posting this.. Swansway were a class bespoke act. I remember this evening well and noticing their faster tempo on 'Soul Train'. This is encouraging me to dig out all my own 'Tube' VHS & 8mm recordings.. Tanks agin!
Local legend and Philadelphia DJ Robert Drake introduced this amazing band to me courtesy of his radio show "The Land Of The Lost" on WXPN. The last Friday of every month. 88.5
Ahh The Tube, avid viewing every week, I never missed it. Soul Train is still one of my fave songs ever. The singer is a lookalike cross between Frankie Laine and Kirk Douglas
I bought the 12'' of Soul Train back in the day. LOVED it. My wee sister and brother bought 7''. As part of the club scene I bought the12'' versions of anything
Didn't expect to hear something like this on the Tube back in 84 but it came on and effected me. Gorgeous chord progressions. I may even lift some of them for a new piece in 2022 😉
Agreed, their look and sound for that time, was so different, even now, each time I hear this I stop and listen, as if someone hit the pause button on my mind. These days, the sound of an approaching V twin motorcycle engine with Yoshimua cans has a similar effect on me 😍

Do you have any Japan / David Sylvian performances?
Sorry I have nothing by them.

An accomplished performance by a tremendous band that deserved greater recognition back in the 80s. Many thanks for uploading this gem.
I am so glad you found and enjoyed this video
Brilliant - Fugitive Kind is still one of the best albums I have, every track is great - top work, thanks
Glad you enjoyed it

Still one of my favourite bands, and albums. I was lucky enough to see them in Pickwick's, in Liverpool, and they were amazing. Top, top band.
I bought the single Soul Train at the time. Forgot that they were on the Tube. Thanks for the memories
Does not seem like 36 years ago. Likewise, I bought Soul Train, but some bugger pinched it from me.

Great band and different from others of the time. Spot on
excellent
There where a few bands in the 80s that had one unforgettable single. Anyone remember Das Psycho Rangers for example?
The influence of The Associates is massive.
Blue Rondo a la Turkish
I had totally forgotten about Blue Rondo à la Turk, until you mentioned them.
Fuck me it's Billy McKenzie!!
😆
