I played with a Pro Staff 315g for several years (I'm now 54 years old) and I absolutely love it. But sometimes, when I'm a bit tired, this racket is not forgiving. I was waiting for a Wilson Pro Staff-like racket with a little bigger head and more forgiveness. When Wilson start to sell the wklson labs Shift I immidiately bought one (300g). It took a little time to adapt to it but this is the racket I was waiting for. I tried a lot of other rackets but the Shift was the one I came always back to. I strung it with Wilson Revolve at 21kg in the mains and 19kg in the crosses to have a bit more power/spin and it still gives lot of control. I do really enjoy playing with my Shift, even if the feel of the Pro Staff is really unique. Really interesting videos btw, keep on that great work !

Thanks for the informative video ❤. I’m a clash pro v1 user since it’s launched before pandemic. I customized clash to be 349 g total with weights at 3/9 o clock point. I tried so many different rackets (blade, pro staff, gravity, pretty much every new hot rackets). Nothing could replace my clash pro. Until Shift 315 lab series, now I’m ready to transition into it. I tried shift 300 but not enough plow through than 315. I put lead on 3/9 on shift 315 making it 343 grams and it’s a magic. 18x20 string pattern give me better control than clash. Thank you Wilson.

Thank you for a great video. I am also a long time pro staff user. But recently tried the Shift 99 (300g) and was shocked to find that it is a fantastic racquet. It doesn't feel light or flimsy at all, as I expected coming from a 315g Pro Staff. Also surprised by the amount of feel I get from the Shift, it was almost equal to the Pro Staff. Playing with the Shift it must makes everything so much easier. The sweet spot is much bigger than PS, volleys are easier to control, serves are bigger and with more spin. It is truly the Pro Staff of the modern player's frame.

Lessons I've learned: Swing weight for: Pro staff: 321; Shift:317; Shift pro: 332; Pro staff RF: 335. So Pro staff is actually more similar to shift, not shift pro. As a one handed backhander, I could swing pro staff and shift easily. But I struggled with shift pro, especially when I had to pull out fast response to unexpected situations. But of course, if you are as strong as Federer, then it's totally different.

Great review 👍 I watched couple of your other videos about Yonex rackets etc. You are doing great job by explaining what you feel and also with the cuemate sensor, which is something fresh and I'm not aware of anyone else doing this. My question is - can you compare the new data with the Wilson Labs versions of the Shift rackets? I'm curious if there are any changes to the playability, because with the Wilson Labs versions I felt these rackets are unpredictable in some situations (sometimes too powerful, sometimes no control) and that's why I did not recommend them for advanced and tournament players. Thank you and keep doing what you are doing, it's a pleasure to watch you.

Thank you so much! Without any data proof, I feel like the new versions are more consistent than the Labs version. I did not like the labs version the very first time I hit with it but it grew on me the more I played with it. These new versions definitely did not give me that initial feeling I had with the Lab Versions. Not sure from a data stand point why though! I do think the strings makes a big difference and it felt like it was more stable and consistant with one type of string over a hybrid of multi and poly strings.

    • @CzechTennisGuy

@@SurinaDeBeer Thank you for your answer. Yeah, I think the strings will play a major role with the Shift rackets. I've tested the 300g racket of the Project Labs version with Luxilon Alu Power. First day the racket felt amazing, but next day the balls were flying all over the place. I received the racket with old string job so the tension droped dramatically in 24 hours. I think that these rackets will be highly sensitive to the string setup because of the new technologies that enhance everything we know about a tennis racket. So when you get that extra combo of power, spin and control, you absolutely need to have fresh strings with good tension maintance. Otherwise a wrong or old string setup can really mess up the overall experience.

I currently enjoy playing with the Wilson PS 97 v14 and the Prince Phantom 93p 18x20. Based on your review of the Shift 99 and 99 Pro, which did you enjoy playing with more? From the numbers, it looked like you played better with Pro, but your reaction with the regular 99 was better.

I am a 5.0 player and use the Blade V8 16/19 and love it. I friend who is a local Wilson dealer loaned me the Wilson Labs 300 to demo and I really liked it. I let my workout partner, who has been playing with the Clash Pro for over a year, hit with it and he absolutely fell in love with it. In fact, a couple days later he picked up two on Ebay. Wilson really hit a home run with the Shift line.

@@bacchingabriel I use exclusively Pro's Pro polyester. In the Blade I use a hybrid setup of Blackout in the mains(54) and Red Devil in the crosses(50). I strung the Shift with a full bed of Hexaspin at 54/50.

The shift all white is a deal breaker looks cheap like a novelty racket.
