Hey there.. Sorry for the long wait... I had to clear up some problems in real life before I got time to sit down and be creative again on YT. Thanks for asking!
So nice to see these first reactions when they enter a new world... You could've easily made that segment longer an still keep your viewers. Great footage!
@@AntsVienna interesting... Or maybe the stats are skewed by the people who keep rewatching the narrated sections to get the most out of all the useful information you share?
making the soil wet will cause the ants to start digging or moving around the sand into the tube, possibly reducing the vision into the tube if they plaster it along the walls of the tube
Nice to here from you again ! Simple setup for the ligniperda 👌 Where did you get the tube insert to reduce the diameter ? I'm curious about the experiment feedback you teased us !
Experiment update vid is coming in +- 2 weeks Yes, simple setup for everyone to replicate Inserts I made myself with 3d printer, as well as feeder I've been thinking about YT all the time, but had to take care of stuff real life first
Found 1 queen and I have 2 questions: should I feed my queen some sugarwater before hibernation, and How do the summer queens survive the hibernation in the wild? It's like 7 months
Hello there. I would keep feeding the Queens/colonies until you see them no longer being interested in food. In the wild the ants dig themselves under the ground, which is warmer than surface, so they usually make it through. Insects in general can get frozen and revitalised when temperatures rise again.
Thanks! The box was part of a set called godmorgon, but not sure if they are still selling it. I guess you could do the same with the KLIPPKAKTUS boxes, but you'd have to drill a hole on the top first
In the time it took you to post I got 3 colonies and caught another which was a pogonomyrmex occidentalis queen not that long ago qnd she got her first nantics 😭
No, most of them are not. Just to be clear: - Polygynous: more than 1 queen ant per colony - Polymorphic: the worker ants of the species come in all sizes, small up to extra-large. Most Camponotus are indeed polymorhic
No, 4-8 weeks is normal for Lasius. It highly depends on the temperature and whether or not you disturb your Queen too often by looking (this stresses her out and she can't care for the brood the way she should). Just leave her alone for 10 days or so and you will have your first workers 😉
Hello ants V. I have a question: were are you find that many Queens of camponotus Ligniperda ? because i love and want thous ants I live in Czechia can you deliver me 2 queens??? Pls ? I have 5 €

You are NOT coryxkenshin, you don’t get to disappear for a year no matter what…. Okay seriously ur back :)
Are all camponatous ants polygynes?
No, most of them are not. Just to be clear:

- Polymorphic: the worker ants of the species come in all sizes, small up to extra-large. Most Camponotus are indeed polymorhic

Nope, I just had to take care of some problems real life

My first campontous died today 😢my first one
Sorry to hear that Owen! Don't give up on ant keeping though... Sometimes that happens - I've lost some Queens too on my journey
Did the failed ligniperda die?....
The "old Queen" that had lost her workers did also stop eating and passed away sadly
@@AntsViennathat sucks. Sorry to hear that. That queen was most likely an bad gene queen.
