The sculpture in Collecter is by an artist called Tony Fantastis He used to be my landlord The house was covered in his wild sculptures, literally, you could climb all over them and onto the roof He had opium poppies in the backyard that he would come around and milk sometimes This was years ago I loved that house ❤✌️
It's so interesting that Josh Kalis is his favorite skater. Skaters always get inspired by someone and just run completely in their own direction with it, it's awesome!
@@johnmeehan7884there's always some insufferable khunt who has to try and put a negative spin on everything, he wouldn't have said it if it wasn't true, everyone who grew up on the DC video loved kalis so I don't doubt him for a second
Jackson is Kalis. When Kalis gets really baked he likes to put on his hippie outfit, wig,and beard to be one with the cosmos. Once you know you can't unsee it.
Back when i was starting to skate my dad brought home this video for me, we used to watch together all the time we were crazy about it, especially Richie's part, the music, the trick selection the over all madness of it haha This film shape the way i aproach skateboarding thanks Transworld. Good times, miss you dad.
In film school they wanted us to show a scene from our favorite movies.... I showed them this part and everyone was stunned, You and Jon did great work!
I used to watch this part obsessively back in the day. I remember the one time I went to Canberra, I happened to drive past that war memorial and thought, "wow that's the spot from the Richie Jackson video, I'm surprised he didn't get kicked out doing that." hahaha a big inspiration to me, not that my skateboarding comes even close, but just his pure creativity really resonates with me still to this day.
Thanks for this. This part is one of my favourite parts ever. Love the whole and now video and this guy being so different than anybody else really changed the way i looked at skating. Richie and Chris Haslam are my GOATs
At the risk of sounding like an old head.. I miss the days when skating had characters. It feels so sterile and repetitive now. This dude dressed like a hippie pirate doing switch tre's in lines spoiled me as a teen
skating has been commodified. just ride it out for a few more years and all the posers & kooks will disappear. skating was never cool, it's just overrun by people trying to make it cool at the moment.
His creativity is so unique when it comes to his tricks. Such skill and talent. This is taking skateboarding and pushing the limits on what you can do. Great video !
I let my old manager at Marco’s pizza borrow the and now dvd back in like 2009. He knew nothing about skateboarding. When he returned me the dvd he had told me Richie was his favorite part and it blew him away. Glory days.
One of my all time fav parts still to these days. Why he stopped skating or at least filming? sure there can be a lot of reasons but he was truly unique and intriguing!
This part helped me a lot in some parts of my life (personal issues) in that moment this video part was something new, creative, and powerful... dude that firecracker 180 bk blow my mind, the powercracker, the airwalk.. damn!!
Dude had the idea to do a piwercracker and actually did it! Think about that. How god damn scary you think that is because that has fuck yourself up written all over it not to mention pretty difficult if you even think it is possible considering no one ever even thought of something that insane.
Loved this part, I remember seeing it at my local shop we were all so hyped it was so refreshing UPS dropped off a bunch of stuff and we ripped open this video . The whole video is good but this part hit so different . We all spent the rest of the day just skating different and looking at our spots differently. I think it’s one of the greatest compliments you can give anyone let alone a creative realm like skating. That they got you to expand your horizons and look at things differently . Thanks TWS and the and now skaters
Helluva a part/ got to respect his approach to skating. And talk about the perfect song for Ritchies part and the style he evokes not to mention how the part is edited...classic part...
Funny. Wasn't my kind of skating at all when I was growing up and watched the part (sorry, Bryan Wenning & baggy jeans had a strong hold of me back then), but looking back on it this part is really incredible. Even more so, this dude is actually really cool, concise and articulate. Always enjoy these sorts of videos. Thank you, Transworld!

thought the same thing :). kalis is so different.
He's probably not, he's just lying like most do in interviews.

ITS DOPE YOU PAINTED THE PANTS SPECIFICALLY FOR THE COLOR GRADING ON VX.
This part holds up so well 15 years later, hard to be wildy creative and have style all at the same time! 🙌
I love these breakdown of the classics!! Keep em coming TWS!!
Classics? Oof I feel old lol

What a cool memory. Thanks for sharing bro.

This part totally revolutionized what I thought skating could be. I don't know if it's old enough to be considered a classic yet but it is in my book
In film school they wanted us to show a scene from our favorite movies.... I showed them this part and everyone was stunned, You and Jon did great work!
this dude inspired a whole generation with his skating. so many kids now days are tapping into ish he was doing yrs ago.
One of my favorite parts off of And Now 🔥 always got hyped watching Ritchie's part.
I used to watch this part obsessively back in the day. The air jog, or "scare walk", is soooo sick. I own this video on DVD and still rewatch it.

One of the best skate parts of all time. Looking foward to a new vid Richie!
A timeless masterpiece. Besides crazy power/tech , he embodies some of skateboarding's finest attributes: individuality and unfiltered expression.
Crazy to think if this part came out today it would actually fit into a lot of videos
Yeah. Richie really paved a way for a certain type of skating, quite awesome❤
That was a golden time of skate videos
Good days
At the risk of sounding like an old head.. I miss the days when skating had characters. It feels so sterile and repetitive now. This dude dressed like a hippie pirate doing switch tre's in lines spoiled me as a teen
I think you’re right. we get “influencers” like Burberry Erry now
Like Ali Boulala
Yep, bunch of clones dressing like the 90s. Don’t fake the funk and skate like u!
What kind of style do you call that ? Then clothes tho 😂
skating has been commodified. just ride it out for a few more years and all the posers & kooks will disappear. skating was never cool, it's just overrun by people trying to make it cool at the moment.
he masters skateboarding differently, no one does this very much, this is a classic of world skateboarding🇺🇸
Yep, bunch of hipsters who barely skate switch
@@jdillabumps why the hell would anyone want to try these switch?
@@jdillabumps oh man imagine spending all that time to learn how to skate switch only to find out we don't care
@@i-never-look-at-replies-lol u should care and try it. It’s good for the mind and body
We gotta see more of this guy! Get him on 9 club!!!
this song gets me so pumped to shred the streets!
I really enjoy watching that part, shows everyone that you have to do your own shit
Met Ritchie walking into the Hollywood bowl to see Black Sabbath, dude was so cool and authentic. I’ll never forget that moment.
This dude can firecracker UP stairs. I've witnessed it.
His creativity is so unique when it comes to his tricks. Such skill and talent. This is taking skateboarding and pushing the limits on what you can do. Great video !
"And I NEEDED those stripes to show up" 😂
one of the most creative skaters ever
Maybe the best song choice for a part, ever.
And Now is one of my top 3 favorite videos of all time. All the parts were so good and the crew was super diverse
I let my old manager at Marco’s pizza borrow the and now dvd back in like 2009. He knew nothing about skateboarding. When he returned me the dvd he had told me Richie was his favorite part and it blew him away. Glory days.
sean malto and richie shared a skate video haha cool
the escalator slide was always my favorite
This is cool, always loved his style. Really cool to get some insight and see the respect he has for the history of the spots.
Seems like he really focused on spot specific tricks that are so popular now. I dont think the industry was ready back then .
One of my all time fav parts still to these days. Why he stopped skating or at least filming? sure there can be a lot of reasons but he was truly unique and intriguing!
Always thought it was tight he didn’t touch the handrail down the escalator
This part helped me a lot in some parts of my life (personal issues) in that moment this video part was something new, creative, and powerful... dude that firecracker 180 bk blow my mind, the powercracker, the airwalk.. damn!!
It's a memorial but still just a piece of rock, those people are dead they don't and can't care
Wow, i always loved, that he's so special and it still so good, will ever be.
Legend!
i was just thinking about Richie the other day. nice surprise to see this pop up
Ran into this legend at LAX around 2011. He still had an Australian accent ;)
Don’t say that to him. He’s a Kiwi
@@marcelboogaard3809
Surprised he didn't mention that last clip was at jimu hendrix high school.
Desde Chile, vi esto cuando tenía 18 años y lo recuerdo como hoy. Me motivo a seguir patinando
Those side manual powerslide things into the grind are the lowkey best tricks in this vid
Dude had the idea to do a piwercracker and actually did it! Think about that. How god damn scary you think that is because that has fuck yourself up written all over it not to mention pretty difficult if you even think it is possible considering no one ever even thought of something that insane.
reluctant rj fan here but now i am full blown fan thank you brothere
I love the "Hippie Stick" deck homage.
So funny I was just rewatching And Now. One of the best videos.

so sick. really enjoy the stories....
I can't believe I sat through that whole thing..
Glad he mentioned the Callum Paul incident.
Super talented
Can we please talk about the elephant in the room? 😂
This is crazy thank you Richie !
Helluva a part/ got to respect his approach to skating. And talk about the perfect song for Ritchies part and the style he evokes not to mention how the part is edited...classic part...
I get Dr.Rockso vibes from this guy
RiP Grosso! I miss Love Letters.
Mesmerizing style.
if i had to be stuck on an island with only one skater , this would be the dude . me and Richie just skating in the sand.
Woah, and what else!😂
lol
Tell us about your island fantasies with Richie!
The saddest thing of all is this dude died and had to go his whole life getting called gay every day. Rip.
amazing
Im a vet, when im dead, I'd be stoked if someone skates a war memorial. Just no varial flips pleez.
Rich is one of the greatest ever!!!
Is the chain at the 7/11 on Garnett in PB?
Legendary
Sick dude.
Nostalgic.❤
Legend... thank you
Best video part ever
LEGEND
Long live Grosso man I miss him love you Richie Jackson and your beautiful blue eyes
yo Richie can we get a new part ??
awesome
he has a funny way of talking. i like him even more now.
I was expecting him to talk about the people in the background who "disappear" around the 9:20 mark lol.
so sick
Hell yeah the living legend
Un grande gracias por tanto Richie
Also, I've never heard the term, "Airwalk Scarewalk" thats cool.
Airwalks kicks one way and Scarewalk kicks the harder way ...when separated
Damn this part was actually sick
Legend part! Legend person!
Part was before its time
HAH
How could he not speak about the Casper plant ender that's insane??
Thanks alot
does he still skate?
This guy tells some good stories too
Still the winner of his show “the 360 flip contest”
YES
I'd like to hear what Richie thinks about Andy Anderson. Collab maybe?!? Ha.
Andy anderson of 70s in 00s
Don’t you dare
Nah, Andy Anderson is just your average goofy at every skatepark
Bro Ritchie was doing this before Andy Anderson was a thing
Andy is a kook.
Andy skates to create. He’s a student of the art form, WTF have you done.
Does anyone remember Richie Jackson ?
Richie seems like a genuinely cool guy. Always loved this part
Lizard king is by FaR the MOST underrated pro
The switch tre says, "I can do normal tricks. I just choose not to".
No accent?
People hate Berra for making fake spots but not Jackson?
Cuz he’s not creative like Ritchie
He modifies spots, not build fake ledges and handrails
