  • We set off from Algonquin Outfitters on Lake Opeongo and took the water taxi to the portage to Proulx Lake. From there, we paddled Proulx Lake to the Crow River, Little Crow, and Big Crow Lakes. This is part 1 of our 6-day backcountry canoe trip with our small children. It was an incredible September adventure in Algonquin Provincial Park and we hope you enjoy! Please subscribe to follow us - Parts 2 and 3 of our trip will be posted soon!
Algonquin Provincial Park is located on the traditional land of the Omamiwininiwag and Anishinabewaki Nations. We are thankful for their stewardship of the land and for the opportunity to experience this beautiful place. (www.native-land.ca)

Dad and I went up to Big Crow in the 90's when he was about 60. We almost lost it on Opeongo both on the way in and out. The water taxi is a great choice. The portage path was much narrower then. A big bull moose blocked our way on Crow River. The next day a cow and her calf walked by me in the shallows while I was fishing in the canoe. We did a day trip to Hogan but we should have taken the trail to a lookout. Great job with your videos.

It was incredible! The cool nights and lack of biting insects were fantastic!

Nope! We keep a clean campsite and don't bring any food or toiletries into our tent, ever. We hang our food barrel up a ways away from our campsite.
