    What I don't understand is Why not Diesel Hybrids? Like replace the Chevy Volt's Gas Engine with a 4 Cyl. Diesel Engine, make the battery pack up to 65kWh and you have a cleaner long range vehicle. Or Tesla should add a Diesel engine to a version of the Model S with their 65, 80 and 85 kWh battery.

    My parents own a 2013 Passat with the i5. My thoughts on it.
    -Good
    Sounds like a v10, amazing - perfect steering wheel
    Lots of room for tall men like me. (6 ft 3) front and back both
    Simple, non tacky, interior. Lots of decent materials
    Good progressive brake feel, same with the throttle
    Surprisingly sporty suspension but still comfortable
    -Bad
    Wind noise is very noticeable at 80kph - expensive oil changes
    All in all it's a good handling entry luxury car, but it does have wind noise.

      +Nicholas Nore oil changes very very cheap if you do them yourself. i own an 06 passat full synthetic.
      walmart sells 5 quart jugs of full syn mobil 1 for around 20-26 dollars. thats basically all you need for an oil change. a new filter should run you 13--17 dollars based on brand. most my oil changes cost between 70-120 depending on the place i go but if i do them myself they cost under 40 dollars...and its ever 10K miles instead of 5K

    For those who may follow: The higher-end, large screen nav system also boots and responds slower. The smaller screen uses less power out of the same chip so it can respond and load a bit faster. I'm averaging low-mid 40s on a round trip, post-dieselgate fix.

    Something that many of you may not know. In the back of the center console there is what looks to be a little storage area. According to a friend of a friend who works at a VW dealership, that little cubby hole was going to house vents for the rear passengers. But VW never got around to doing it.

    • @Rtvoll
      @Rtvoll 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    All diesels, peugot,Citroen,Ford,Toyota D4D, all of these and most diesel lengines made in Europe are super quiet and super effecient and has oodles of torque, its just that America isnt lucky to get diesels in their mainstream market as others get in Asia,Europe,Australia,Africa

I had it there May 11th for light plus I bought 4 new tires. Now today May 16th light came on again! I bought it at Auffenberg Ford. They have a monopoly on all car lots in this area!

    • @AkioWasRight
      @AkioWasRight 11 ปีที่แล้ว

      Djonkie Bonk
      Yes, they have a low pressure pump that pulls the fuel out of the tank and a high pressure fuel pump (HPFP) for injectors. Almost all diesels are direct injection. The difference is that diesels have more critical, higher pressure DI systems. If something does break, it can be expensive.

    • @MrJohnnyDistortion

    Where does that idiot below think a VW Diesel is not durable. Dam out last any north American engine on the market. Any diesel will do that. They cost less to maintain and there is nothing to go wrong with them.
    I just want to know where he gets his facts from look at all the Jettas and Passats on the road. It makes me very upset when he says they do not last they last longer than any other engine in the market place today and VW is quality not the slap together North America cars we have today. They work off tolerances for body and fit. North American work off slap together technology crap. They never went for a bail out like everyone but Chrysler. New technology that the big three do not have they still think the V8 is the end all to everything. You do not find allot of gas engines in Europe it is diesel. They have torque like you can not believe. They get high mileage not the gas hogs that are still being produced in North America and can be compared to a hybrid car. That is dam great when your compared to them I would say for mileage.
    Get some facts buddy you know nothing about what you are saying lame off the cuff trash talk.

      Listen, if VW could improve their durability and reliability they would rule the auto business in the US because they "feel", drive and handle better that all these cookie cutter cars ever could. They have the driving dynamics of cars costing a lot more money, no-nonsense interiors and great seats, but again. Fix this and fix that and very expensive parts to boot. I would rather have a Jetta or a Golf than a Corolla but I need a reliable car that is not gonna cost me an arm and a leg in repairs.

      Also, Americans don’t buy station wagons (anymore) like Europeans do, which is why the Passat NMS (stands for New Midsize Sedan) has no wagon variant. Americans would rather buy SUVs but that’s a whole different story.

      We don't. We love diesels. The government and their ev loving warmongering counterparts hate diesels because it interferes with their agenda.🤷🏽‍♂️

    Since Americans wants the biggest engines, VW should have offered the 170 horsepower rather than the 140

      They did both but the 170hp was offered in the 2.5 5 cylinder

      Even if it was, Mexican plants really got their stuff together. I’ve been to several on business trips and they’re more organized than American plants. Their auditors are tough as hell and take their quality very serious.

      Ali Junaid A lot of middle eastern countries can't get enough of the crown vics and newer caprices. Secondly my job is to build these cars at the Chattanooga assembly plant and this was also designed in Europe FOR the American market.
