What I don't understand is Why not Diesel Hybrids? Like replace the Chevy Volt's Gas Engine with a 4 Cyl. Diesel Engine, make the battery pack up to 65kWh and you have a cleaner long range vehicle. Or Tesla should add a Diesel engine to a version of the Model S with their 65, 80 and 85 kWh battery.

For those who may follow: The higher-end, large screen nav system also boots and responds slower. The smaller screen uses less power out of the same chip so it can respond and load a bit faster. I'm averaging low-mid 40s on a round trip, post-dieselgate fix.
Something that many of you may not know. In the back of the center console there is what looks to be a little storage area. According to a friend of a friend who works at a VW dealership, that little cubby hole was going to house vents for the rear passengers. But VW never got around to doing it.
All diesels, peugot,Citroen,Ford,Toyota D4D, all of these and most diesel lengines made in Europe are super quiet and super effecient and has oodles of torque, its just that America isnt lucky to get diesels in their mainstream market as others get in Asia,Europe,Australia,Africa
the thing that hurts the passat is a lack of features compared to competition. if VW is serious about the american market they need to update the jetta and passat more.

Djonkie Bonk Yes, they have a low pressure pump that pulls the fuel out of the tank and a high pressure fuel pump (HPFP) for injectors. Almost all diesels are direct injection. The difference is that diesels have more critical, higher pressure DI systems. If something does break, it can be expensive.
Never liked this Passat it's to conservative and lacks good modern tech options. Hope VW will fix that for the next gen. Anyways awesome car review like always.
Where does that idiot below think a VW Diesel is not durable. Dam out last any north American engine on the market. Any diesel will do that.
