    Hmm.. I've just realized that this is supposed to be a snapshot of what people see on their deathbed looking back at their lives. Sadness, love, and bursts of the pain that passes by. The last part goes very quickly to convey the unpleasant and scarring moments in life. Most revel in the joyous times and what it took to create those moments. I love that this is done with Ghibli clips for the most part. It really shows that Miyazaki and his studio really value conveying human emotions and relationships between one another.
    I love your work on AMVs. They're so fresh and great. It's a real inspiration to me. I remember sitting down at the viewing room and watching Into The Labyrinth for the first time at Fanime a couple of years ago. The audience was absolutely captivated and absorbed by the visuals. The visuals were so unexpected and new, being 60fps, intepolated animation with different color effects synced up to entrancing music in a dark room on a large projector screen. At the end, there was a guy in the front that yelled out WTF in confusion and in awe of what we all witnessed. The audience chuckled since he expressed so poignantly how everybody there was feeling.
    Anyways, I like your Elite Dangerous, Monogatari, and composed anime music videos. I think they're pretty cool. Some of your AMVs have helped me understand some of my feelings, instilled a certain wonder about our galaxy, and made me really appreciate how awesome animation can really be. You've had a huge impact on me.

      Thanks man for the writeup, I really enjoyed reading about the WTF-guy in particular :)
      And yeah, the fact that this vid could be done pretty much exclusively with Ghibli movies is awesome. Ghibli movies all share the fact that the themes are close to life itself, so they work beautifully in context of this video to make it as coherent as it is now.
      For a long time, I've dreamed of being someone who could make magical and awe-inspiring things like those that I myself enjoy so much. That's why reading your last paragraph and other comments like this make me realize that I might've achieved it on a small scale, which is really great. Thanks bro.

      Small scale? ya idk about that man i fucking love you i am watching your vids to study on how i should do my montage of my gameplay and how to sync up but i realized how many lvls you were syncing and got a bit sad lol cuz i am struggle to do 1 but you truly are my inspration if you could do layers of this i could do at least bass.

    So, I see death as a window to the afterlife, representing the realisation of mortality, followed by wonder, surprise, but also disbelief and denial.
    The (non existent) "protagonist" of the video (who is more of a metaphorical combination of viewer and creator) then realises the need to let go, and the grief that comes with it, causing them to focus on the things and people they have in their life.
    The theme now somewhat shifts to the circle of life, most notably the idea of your impact on this world as a form of rebirth, or, in the wider sense, a continuation of ones existence.
    The focus is on family and people, most importantly children, but also other achievements that are left for those to come.
    I really like the ending here, picturing rebirth as the same as heredity, and therefore wrapping up many of the central themes.
    I also guess the creator of this work experienced many of these feelings and realisations in the not too distant past before creating this.
    Am I close? Or did I miss the mark entirely?

    • @lolligerjoj1
      @lolligerjoj1  8 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      +FafliX I myself see it in multiple perspectives. One of mine is very close to yours though.
      I do not claim any interpretations to be correct, because the identity of the video is first and foremost only what you see.

    There's something to this AMV that I can't explain... I've been afraid of the Zelda Majora's Mask Moon since I was 5, and once I saw it, my heart started racing like crazy... I was really scared to death! The thing is, I've seen it now several times, and I just know there's a hidden meaning behind this work of art. Each time I watch it I can appreciate certain effects closer and closer, and up to this day, I consider it to be one of my favourite AMVs of all time. You have really unique skills when it comes to editing, skills that aren't really explainable by words alone. I feel that the song you used are the words themselves. Music is what really speaks to you in this video, but without the scenes, the song would be somewhat empty. Your usage of psychological and psychedelic scenes (more than usage, creation) is bound to make someone unpleasant, but not necesarily in a bad way. I've been trying to edit a video my self for over a year now, and I've never gotten to really work hard on it. I think this video will enable me a wider range of possibilities regarding certain scenes and effects. To sum up, you made a work of art. It doesn't even look like Ghibli anymore...

    • @lolligerjoj1
      @lolligerjoj1  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks man. It's cool that my videos sometimes mean this much to people.
      Yeah the moon of Majora's Mask is quite a geniusly haunting being. I'm glad I could make a video where it fits so nicely.

About a year ago, I became interested in this subject and now watching anime or movies in 60 fps for me as a bonus.
    And only yesterday I stumbled across on the Internet at the next job amv 60 fps, and was on the credit the author of the channel. Looked latest work again, the next and the next ... all in good strange, catch my perception of art.
