Different bisque temperatures can change the glaze results, and lower bisque temps make for much more fragile ware.

Totally new to the kiln. I cannot find any information on how long to fire pieces. I purchased a mini kiln. With it came miniature pottery molds. I am in a miniature guild and would like to make pottery. What information I do find tells me that it takes 12 hours. I had my glazed pieces in for 4 hours and they ended up melted. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

Kilns take different amounts of time to fire depending on the speed of firing (slow, medium, or fast) and the type of kiln you have. Different kinds of clay fire at different amounts of heat work, not at a specific amount of time. We recommend you contact the kiln manufacturer for details on a firing schedule, and find out the firing range of the clay you purchased (it should be rated by temperature or cones). Check out our Newbie Clay guide (amaconewbieclay.mailchimpsites.com/) for getting started in ceramics, or contact our Tech Support team for assistance.

Hi there, your glaze fire temperature depends on what clay body you are using (whether it's a cone 05, cone 5/6 or cone 10 clay body) and then what glaze you are using as well. Do you know which ones you are using? From there, we can better help you find the best solution.
