    My tip: Radiators are fragile. To keep myself from bending the fins while I install it I'll cut cardboard from the box the radiator came in and place it on the backside of the radiator. Hold it with tape and remove when you are done.

    For anyone else watching this, we just did this same replacement. Depending on where you get your new part from, keep in mind that the oil cooler fittings/adapters probably won't be the right size, as we found out later. Take the o rings off of the new fittings and slip them on the original lines. It solved our problem since couldn't find the correct size of fittings. Not sure why the fittings were in the box if they don't fit 🤷 the transmission cooler line fittings worked great though.

    If the radiator hoses are in decent shape you can reuse them. The band clamps will prevent them from leaking.

    You just saved me a huge headache, clear simple instructions made it so easy, especially telling me what tools I needed. Thankyou very very much :D

    You may want to look directly above the drip to see if you can tell where it's coming from. The radiator wouldn't have anything to do with an engin oil leak. If the radiator were leaking it would be either "Green" from anti-freeze or "Red" from transmission fluid, if you have an automatic transmission.

    Your local dump should have a fluid disposal area that allows you to get rid of hazardous fluids.

    You could try a little RTV on the threads of the plug. If the radiator's really old you may just want to replace it.

    Got a crack in my radiator. Keeps the truck cool but have to put water in it every few days and it leaks... I'll be sure to remember this guide for when I get the money to buy a replacement. Thanks.

    We currently do not have an auto repair video that shows this particular repair on this vehicle. We'll keep this request in mind in the event that we need to make this repair in the future.

    Is there a better way to cap off where the extra fitting/tube comes out of the radiator just under the overflow return line? Mine keeps cracking and splitting and then starts leaking. I’ve gone through 3 of the little caps in about a year.

    How tight did you go on the cooler lines. Mine has a small leak after installation. And are the orings already in the radiator? Or where should they be?

    Thanks alot for the vid, great info and camera quality.
    But i noticed you used the same hoses after removing them from radiator? Wont they leak? I've heard they seal themselves and once removed they will leak. Thanks

    Once you tighten up the oil cooler hose is supposed to move around?

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Robin Howie It should be pretty solid when you tighten it up, but may have slight movement.

    Just curious, when you were removing and installing the radiator hose clamps instead of using pliers or channel locks wouldn't the hose clamp removal tool at a auto parts store work easier? Spring loaded, looks like a pair of scissors

    does the lower fan shroud absolutely need to come out? I have a receiver hitch that's in the way. I'll remove it if I need to but I'm having a hard time figuring out of it's necessary.

      as it turns out, there is motor oil in the coolant, but no coolant in the oil. what are the chances it's the engine oil cooler that's leaking into the radiator instead of a cracked head?
