That doesn't make his statements right or wrong. Caro makes a living from always playing the moral compass of AFL and she also works for Craig Hutchinson.
Hutchison is way out of line with his argument that Caroline Wilson should boycott her own employer if they dare to take gambling ads. Like it or not, we all have to pay mortgages and eat - and as Wilson points out, that would bar her from every newspaper and TV station in the country. It's simply unfeasible.
That would be a good result. Hutchy is right.

Caro is spot on. The insidious encroachment on Footy by betting agencies - local and international - is disgraceful. Why did we do away with cigarette and alcohol advertising only to embrace the equally destructive results of gambling? Double standards all down the line.

I've never been a gambler, and I don't like people who moralise to other people. But it's crazy how many gambling ads are on for games of Football. Not only that, it's spoken about like it's normal behaviour. It's going to get kids hooked on it too.
Just imagine being a problem gambler who is trying to not do it and watching a game of football on the weekend with 2 or 3 gambling ads on in every break. It would be like advertising cigarettes to someone trying to quit them.
Well said, Caro. Gambling, and especially gambling advertising, is a blight on our game and society in general. Making money from human addiction/illness/suffering is obscene.
Good one Caro. Gambling is a stain on our sport. Every ad break appears infected by this, and spots on popular footy talk shows are sponsored by the betting groups. Our kids talk about footy in the lingo of odds etc. the AFL should take a stand and ban footy gambling.

It seems like Caro is trying to draw a line in a situation where drawing a line is difficult. If she was a purist about it, she'd be 'out of a job', but is nevertheless suggesting there are lines to be drawn. Hutch, from a position of drawing no lines, is trying to lecture her about consistency. Ironically Cornes, who I think is a hack, responded respectfully to Caro.
The real issue is that gamling is a curse on sport and, as suggested, they are engaged in 'grooming' behaviour towards young people in particular and it's the senior leaders of sports that should be finding other ways to get sponsorship money or, at the very least, enforcing a code of practice on gambling advertising.
I agree gambling ads are out of control. They’re on ALL the time, including on Fox, all different agencies. It’s incredibly insidious.

Think it’s ridiculous that the AFL talk about Bailey smith’s drug use, Jordan De Goey’s inappropriate behaviour towards women, yet the AFL are endorsing gambling. It’s one of the biggest social problems going around and so easily accessible and can destroy livelihoods. Every second ad on Friday/Saturday night footy is some gambling ad (Sportsbet, Ned’s, ladbrokes). Yet no one seems to be talking about this or trying to regulate it.

The Afl and associates took a stand against tobacco companies advertising. Why is gambling acceptable? It can be argued that it is far more detrimental to health yet seems to be excused.

Caro on the money - Hutchy is taking the mick here given he's more than happy to eat the ad revenue up as a business owner. The AFL and broadcast partners need to take a stronger stance on gambling. Gambling is destructive for some and to have it plastered everywhere at games or on the TV & internet is just grooming the next line of kids to pick up the habit.

Caro, you can't pick and choose who you have an issue with going on TV and putting their faces in betting ads. It is up to the person if they wish to do that. We all make choices in life weather they are good or bad. But to pick and choose who you scrutinise is pretty poor. Just because you sit with Kane doesn't mean you have to force changes with him
I’ve seen first hand just how easy it can be to develop a gambling addiction, personally it doesn’t sit well with me that journalists would get involved in, and by extension in Dorse, Sportsbet through that ad. I also hate the AFL including Sportsbet and making it easy for people to place a multi when taking part in the tipping competition. Kind of expect to be in the minority on this site.

I work for a company that chooses not to work with mining companies, forgoing the lucrative contracts that come with it. It's a choice you make, Kane made a choice to receive income from gambling. Live with your choices, if he had any respect left in anyone's book then it's gone.
It is just a matter of time until gambling advertising is a thing of the past. The AFL should be off it already. Any AFL journalist, commentator or past player who agrees to do the ads will be on the wrong side of this, well past when they should know this.
Personally I’m fine with gambling, it’s up to the individual how they spend their money, and if that person is irresponsible enough to lose everything to it, that’s their own fault, risk is part of the game, that being said, I do agree that it get advertised too much and gets nauseating at times, as for who’s in the commercials doesn’t really matter and not worth any outrage.
You must be ok with smoking ads also, and oxycodone advertising in the USA because like gambling, all have shown a potential to be addictive.

A principled person would 100% quit a company that goes against their beliefs, in this case, Wilson's supposed stance against gambling advertising. But she once again shows her disingenuous nature by saying she wouldn't have a job if she stood against her employers, so therefore her money and her job are more important than her values and principles.

Eagles fan here! Umpires have had it out for us all season! The AFL needs to take responsibility for these umpires who have destroyed our club all year...We are a top 4 side not a bottom of the ladder side! AFL stand up and do something about West Coast being targeted by the umpires

I’ll agree we haven’t had a great run, but we deserve to be at the bottom of the ladder. The issue for me is that it’s so hard to watch such a struggling side anyway, so when you get poor umpiring on top of that it really sucks. But tbh I don’t think umpiring has affected our Win Loss record
