      Man there’s so many different version of Joker. It all depends on which one they’re trying to adapt. The original comic book Joker i do think Carrey could have been perfect for.
      Carrey’s so much more than a comedy guy. He got pigeon holed into that kind of over the top slapstick humor role for so long after Ace Ventura. But his more serious roles like Man on the Moon, Truman, The Cable Guy(pseudo serious), 23, Eternal Sunshine…he was equally brilliant in all of those.
      He remains criminally under appreciated as an overall actor and not just a comedian. I truly think he’s one of the best of his era and has an argument as #1.

    Jim plays himself in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind or at least it's what i imagine him to be like in person in real life as his true self. The story is brilliant and it's criminally underrated. Anyone that's had a big break up relationship needs to watch this movie. I saw myself in him and my ex in Kate Winslet. It was like a documentary of my life at times.

It just takes some serious digging to uncover all the exact numbers-or at least well-educated estimates. • @BoxOfficeJoe
      @BoxOfficeJoe  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I may post it in more detail sometime, @arielsaravia4228, but for now, here's an overview:
      BOMB: 0 - 1 Budget to box office ratio
      FLOP: 1 - 1.5 Budget to box office ratio
      AVERAGE: 1.5 - 2x
      SEMI HIT: 2 - 2.5x
      HIT: 2.5 - 5x
      BREAKOUT HIT: 5+
      BLOCKBUSTER: 3+ and among the highest-grossing movies of the decade
      ALL-TIME TITAN: among the 50 highest-grossing movies of the decade
      If you think I'm being a bit harsh with this, please keep in mind that box office earnings are split between the studio and the cinemas, so a movie has to earn at least 2x its budget just to break even. Also, this recipe is a work in progress, I'm trying to finetune it.

    Dark Crimes was a bomb although it made 7 times its budget? How?

    • @BoxOfficeJoe
      @BoxOfficeJoe  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The Dark Crimes box office number is actually in the "k" range, not "M," meaning it made very little. It had a limited theatrical release, so it’s not really the movie's fault. It still has a chance to generate revenue through Blu-ray sales and streaming.

      Thank you for the feedback, @MikeDolla0503! I respect your opinion, but I conducted a poll, and it came out 75% in favor of inflation adjustment versus 25%. I can’t make this work for everyone. However, I’m considering removing it for the budget and box office but keeping it for the paycheck amount only. I might conduct another poll on this as well. Thanks again for your input!

    Are rich people just bad with money? Hes made over 100 million and he recently got back into acting because he mentioned that hes broke. His last few movies flopped hard besides sonic, might be just that he thinks it'll be another easy hit and pay by doing it, which i don't blame him

    High Strung was not called that?? And it wasn’t released in 1992, no idea where you got that information. On IMDB it’s called Introducing Janet or RubberFace and it’s from 1981. Jim Carey wasn’t even the star they just plastered his face on the dvd box after he was famous.

    I think your ratio is wrong at the end. 6.3% (0.063) should be paycheck/box office ratio: 380 million/ 6000 million = 0.063.

      @BoxOfficeJoe  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think we’re on the same page, @edcoad4930! It’s either 0.063 without the ‘%’ sign or 6.3%. Mathematically, they mean exactly the same thing.
