- I have a 1995 f150 that was my grandpas truck until he died four years ago. It only had 87,000 miles on it when I got it. Form the factory they put on a whopping 200hp and 300ft/lbs. of torque, which is not that good, but I have to work with what I got.
Specs.
cam is a comp cams 35-440-8. 220 at .050. lift is .512 with 1.6 rockers, and its a 110 lsa, cam is advanced 2°.
heads are stock e7te heads that have been ported and the exhaust polished to a mirror finish, and lapped valves.
intake is stock (but will be changing to a EFI parker single plane intake with the stock throttle body) ported and polished.
exhaust 2.25" exhaust pipe, BBK shorty headers for a mustang
I also have a 1995 f150 that my Pop gave me before he passed two years ago. He bought it brand new in 1995. Very nice truck you have!!!
Sick man that looks like a big investment
We gotta keep then f150s alive....these were real f150s not fond of the new ones..i have an inline 6 stick shift extended cab and boy shes a beauty half a million miles and still running makes my heart happy to see alot of people bringing these trucks back to life...i believe best body style and engines they made for the behemoths.
Love the story behind the truck man, my grandpa left us his 95 long bed and I hope to do something similar someday soon. Thanks for the inspiration
Sounds sick! If I didn’t have smog this is about what I’d do to my 95’
Just take the smog pump off that's what I did
that thing sounds mean as hell
I need to find someone here in NC to rebuild my engine and put a nice cam in it for me, I'd love to have my 89 f150 sound like yours, but of course I'll just be open headers though, it'll be a show truck and snow truck, won't drive it much anymore, and I love the truck man, it sounds badass
Did you find anyone? I'm in NC as well and have a 96 with 351w that needs rebuilt
@thestraitgateway I have not unfortunately, but I'm ready to find someone though, it sucks 🤦
@Undertaker_Bass_Ride thanks for the reply lmk if you do
Awesome setup!!
Awesome brother I have a 93 306 f150 with a comp cam yours sounds way better good looking set up and build!
302? Or 351? Sounds amazing👍. Need some heads. Watch it wake the hell up. Your grandfather was a good man he bought a good truck, RIP.
It's a 302. If you check my channel out I've turbocharged it.
@@michaelwall784 nice 👍
need to reprogram the ecm on those truck models? I have one of that model and I want to make a cam swap
Nice truck !
Exactly what a truck should sound like
Sounds great. I was always blown away at how large the 5.0 truck intake runners were. Way better than the mustangs. I heard if you port the lower truck intake it picks up allot. How the project has progressed over the years, cheers
Thanks, I'll have a couple new videos coming out of the turbo truckstang!!!.......
the longer runners are for better low end torque. If you know what you're doing they can pick up high 200s to 300 CFM a runner. So basically on par or better than any of those common aftermarket side throttle body manifolds ( BBK / GT40 etc) If you port the edelbrock monster? like mid 350's. You can get a phenolic spacer ( I dont think it clears my van but I did have one ) and if you run a 1" TB spacer it drops the peak HP down a few hundred RPM ( good thing for a truck obviously )
Best sound
Sounds sick!
Sounds good man
Sounds bad ass!
When you change the cam you have to tune it?
im interested what can i get away with without swaping to a carb or replacing the entire efi system. i want to keep it as factory as possible.
Hey, what performance modifications have you done to your truck, and do you know peak horsepower and torque? I just bought a 96 f150.
I have a 96f150 xl 4x4 automatic I think e40d transmission I believe it’s fuel injected what is the best cam to slap into a stock truck?
So I have a 1996 f-150 5.8 which cam y’all recommend I need something that sounds really Aggressive
I know what I'm gana do to 92 f150 that would sound good cruising around
Badass but that belt tensioner is killing the sound
What kind of exhaust do you have or is it factory? I've gotta pull the heads back off my truck i think there cracked and I'll probably put a cam in and for sure doing exhaust
Bbk shorty headers, to a X pipe, and that's it.
@@michaelwall784 thanks man my truck had a blown head gasket and I got a good deal on some gt40p heads and thought I fixed that issue and then the truck caught fire and sat for 10 months before I got around to fix it and I now that its running I find out the heads are cracked
What cam do you have
Hey awesome truck man! I have one myself what msd products are those ?
The ignition box is a 6al-2, and the distributor is a pro billet.
Nice
Hey man, so I just started building my 93 f150. I have 2 questions for you. Where do you buy your parts, and what cam is that.
Your not running type of tuner? How did you get it run with larger cam
Oh wow. I just woke up my 16 month old daughter when that came on,But then I thought..... Are there many better sounds to be woke up to?!
I need help I want to cam my 1992 f150 with a 5.0. Do I need a performance module or chip like some kind of cpm type unit.
How good it drives??
sound great but you do know this cam was ment for a carb setup right? since it is posted on the specs of it
To me, a cam is a cam, if it's for a carb or not if it runs the way I like it then I'm going to keep it.
@@michaelwall784 amen. Bout damn time somebody had the balls to say it. I cant stand people telling me what i need and dont need
did you do any type of tunning ?? or just put the cam on and exhaust i wanna do the same but idk anyone who could calibrate it or tune it
At the time exhaust and cam we're the only things that were done to it.
Do you have a part number on the electric fan ?
Here is a funny question. Hopefully you can get back to me
What should I do to get my truck to run at right air fuel ratio with these parts and stock speed density
Higher comp pistons, about 10:1 static and 8.2:1 dynamic. Has an rv cam less aggressive than yours and .480 .480 lift and 114 lsa. Some aluminum nice but not too crazy egr AFR heads. Stock ratio rockers…
Do you think I will be ok with speed density? Was told I should get an AFR gauge for break in and put an adjustable fuel pressure regulator…
As far as I know you need to convert to Mass air. I am not 100% sure on that though.
Bro how did you make it idle? I just installed the same cam and I’m having trouble trying to idle the truck..she’s sounds great by the way!!
You have to get rid of idle valve on the throttle body, and adjust the idle with the screw. I had it idling around 900rpm in the video.
Thanks for the reply brother!! Great suggestion what timing mark did you set it up at??
15° to 16°, but be careful not to run 87 octane gas.
Appreciate the advice thanks bro..
Why's your MAF sensor so close to the throttle body?
Sweet truck, I have a 92 flareside I'm doing the same to but I'm thinking of dropping a turbo in as well
Thank you!
Hey what cam you got for it??
Where did you route your vacuum after EGR delete? Please help as I deleted mine. I ran vaccum from bottom ports of TAD TAB and bottom port of EGR together into the vaccum reservoir and back into intake. Still having idle misfire issues
So mustang headers will go on the f150s 5.0?
Yes but you might have to do some bending and tweaking depending on shortys or long tubes
Yes, if you get shorty bbk headers made for a 5.0l foxbody they will fit. Two notes.
1. There is no o2 sensor bung in the headers, so you will have to put them in the collector. Or after the collector flange.
2. Wrap the headers in header wrap, or you will be buying sparkplug wires every month.
What cam is this??
Does it have a 5.8 in it>????
It’s a 5.0l
How did you get it tuned for the cam
As long as it is running on mass air, no tuning required.
Is that an mad pro billit distributor
Yes
Did those rear track bars make a difference if so how? Gas mileage...power etc?
They did not stop the wheel hop, but they did slow it down. 12-13mpg was on a good day. If I had to guess it would be 260hp, 350tq. Here's a link to the new traction bar setup. th-cam.com/video/0_QgBi0QyiU/w-d-xo.html
Did it need to be tuned?
No actually, it ran fine! But after switching over to a MS 3 and tuning, it definitely was lacking performance.
What cam is this? Its sounds great btw
Thanks, it's a comp cams 35-440-8
Is this the one with the hydraulic roller?
It's made for a hydraulic roller!
@@michaelwall784 what’s the difference between hydraulic roller and hydraulic flat cam
The hydraulic flat tappet cam lopes have to be less aggressive, because the lopes are sort of pointy at max lift. On the other hand hydraulic roller lopes are more shaped like a egg shell, rollers can open the valve quicker meaning it will takes less degrees of cam rotation to open a valve to the same lift as a hydraulic flat tappet cam would. Think of it this way what, is easier to move a couch up a hill with no wheels, or a couch up a hill with wheels. The benefits of the roller are faster valve opening and closing, more duration, and no more worrying about wiping a cam lope.
Did u do lifters and all that to?
No, just a cam swap. No lifters springs rocker arms. And the springs are stock.
Did u have to get another ECU for the truck when u cammed it to tune it ?
No, it's the stock ecu with the stock tune, it is also mass air.
What computer system are you running? I'm assuming it's not on the stock ecu
For the ECM it's a MegaSquirt 3, and the trans controller is a MicroSuirt
What kind of intake do u have
It the stock intake, I just painted it!
I mean the air system cause I have 93 but I can’t find that air system
Cause u no how there dual I just wanna make it into one like u
Do you still have it? Nice sound 👍
Yes I do, life is really a struggle right now so I haven't been driving it like I'd like too be
@@michaelwall784 Sweet truck never sell her. Hope you come out on top of things.
Did you convert yours over to a roller cam or is this still the flat tappet?
Roller from the factory.
@@michaelwall784 I have a 93 5.0L is this the roller one from factory? And did you have to do anything from stock to put the cam in …. I so want to get a cam … one year I want to do a pro touring full cage street truck with her but for now I just want that sound 🤩
What camshaft did you buy for this beast
It's a comp cams 35-440-8. If you're going to buy a cam go with a trick flow stage one it has better low-end still performs well on top.
@@michaelwall784 thanks man appreciate it
@@michaelwall784 I know this is late but did that cam fit with stock lifters and crank, also did it fit good with piston rods and all that
Can you run this cam with everything stock
yes, I did.
@@michaelwall784 is it still running good. Looking at a 95 with a 5.0 but needs head gaskets and was going to get it and while having stuff apart throw a cam and better heads on it
What did you do for rockers and pushrods?
All stock
Hey just wondering what intake that is
I made it! Lol
What stall converter are you running? I have a 1995 F-150, and i'm considering this cam.
Seth May it's the stock converter. I need to put 3000 stall in it.
michael wall thank you
michael wall sounds great
Seth May sure, thanks.
What you think it makes now???
What size pushrods are your pushrods
Just the stock ones Ford gave me.
Can it damage anything?
What do you mean?
Did you use anything for tuning?
No, just the tune Ford gave me.
@@michaelwall784 This is the stock tune or one that you requested from Ford?
Stock from the factory in 1996. Only thing I have had to do is raise the fuel pressure.
Michael Wall Awesome information. Thank you
I am thinking about puttin this cam in my truxk it’s a 95 with the 5.0 I was wonder what speed torque converter you have and did you have to change anything else
It really needs a 3000-3700 stall, I put a 23-2500 in it and it's a dog below 3000.
@@michaelwall784 thank you anything else that needed to be done for it to run correctly
Other then the timing chain, no.
Any problems getting it to idle right after the cam swap?
No, the only drivability problem is when it's cool and you put it in gear it often dies. But other then that it drives like a stock OBS Ford.
Is it all stock for the most part
Mostly, other than a cam, shorty headers, the intake, porting and polishing the heads.
@@michaelwall784 what size cam would you run and I have longer flowmaster headers
Well the cam that is in there know is a Comp Cams 35-440-8, 0.512 lift int/ext, 220` at 0.050, and the lope separation angle(LSA) is 110`. The only thing I would change is the LSA to 114` 115` 116`. without a turbo the Truckstag was a dog below 3000rpm, but once it's there it's a real head snapper. I'd also suggest a higher stall converter, 2800 or maybe 3200.
What can don’t have
Did you need a stall?
Yes I have a 2300 stall now, I need to put a 3500 to 4000 stall in it.
What cam
Comp cams 35-440-8
Where did you get the cam or cam kit ?
I bought the cam from LMR (Late Model Restoration) cam with more then 220* at .050in. and/or lift over .500in. you should upgrade your valve springs .
Does this have a MAF conversion?
No, it's Mass air from the factory.
What manifold exhaust you used?
They are BBK Shorty's made for the 5.0l mustang.
@@michaelwall784 did they bolt right up to the stock y pipe? And did they include the bung for o2 sensor?
I'm 99% sure they will bolt up to the factory y pipe. As for the O2, I did have to buy bungs.
What air intake is that
I made the air filter box. From the mass air to the TB is all stock parts except the silicone coupler, bought the 4" aluminum 90° elbow form Amazon.
Stock injectors ?
Yes.
Throw some dialectic grease on that belt and you’ll never hear it again
Haha, I have found that the A/C compressor and power steering bracket that mounts to the motor is out of alignment. So I loosened the bolts and tightened them back up, The belt has never made another peep!
@@michaelwall784 you learn something new everyday! I’ll remember that the next time the ol dialectic doesn’t keep things quiet!
How much hp does it have?
I haven't dynoed it but I think it's somewhere in the 260-270.
What cam did you use ?
Comp cams 35-440-8
Sounds like way to much cam for it.
It's was when it wasn't boosted.
Destroyed a classic
It's my truck.
The Truckstang yup, unfortunately that’s the problem.
@@MrBaeza1994 Quit bitching about someone elses truck and go buy your own fuckface
@@marioalvarez9143 lmao you’re funny dude. I have my own, and I didn’t ruin it by adding stupid crap to it. These trucks were planned by engineers for decades to be the best they could be. All you morons that add these idiotic modifications are just destroying these once beautiful trucks.
Good build YOUR truck that way don't come around putting your foot in your mouth just because you don't like someone's build. I could give a fuck for what "real" purpose these trucks are for as long as the person who built it or did whatever they wanted, enjoyed the outcome of it. Stop hating
Is this truck lowered ?
Only 3in in the back just to make it level
What air intake is that
Diy, I made the air filter box, and the 4in. Aluminum pipe I bought on Amazon.
