    Thanks so much for taking the time to post this video. My battery replacement went smoothly with no surprises thanks to you. Much appreciated!!!

    Great video! It helped me not have any surprises while replacing mine. I also replaced the back cover because the battery was so swollen from the outgassing that the cover was deformed. That actually helped because the replacement cover came with adhesive strips applied and made it a lot easier with reassembly! And the tape was continuous so it is *probably* waterproof, but I'm _not_ going to test it. My phone should probably last for at least a couple more years. Yay!
    To drain the battery for calibration, I turned the screen up to full brightness and chose a long @$$ video on YT. 😉
    And peeps... If you're replacing batteries like these, please BE SURE you dispose of the old battery properly. They can be very dangerous if tossed in regular trash (illegal in most jurisdictions). Find a hazardous waste facility in your area that accepts batteries.

    The day came where I was needing to charge every day. Had a replacement battery from Ifixit that was purchased two years ago.
    I tore the print reader cable and threw it away. The phone doesn't seem to care that it's missing and neither do I. I also vented the corner of the battery using a plastic pry tool. I threw the old battery in a metal box for a few days. Looking back on it, I should have used safety glasses, gentle heat, and plastic putty knives are easy to find in the home stores.
    The good news is that my last charge powered the phone for 6 days with an estimated 3 days left. The current calibration predicts 13 days! Thanks for the video and the battery is obviously genuine.

    Thanks for a really great video. I wasn't sure this was possible. I followed what you showed and I now have a working phone again! (for only about 20 quid). Thanks again! :)

    What do you think of glued in Batteries?

  • @junkutubelogin
    @junkutubelogin 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Is there a reason you use adhesive tape to refit the back cover rather than running a very thin run of silicone sealant? Surely that would make a better seal than the tape.

    • @eeAspect
      @eeAspect  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      With any sealant there could be squish out into areas you don't want it to go. And it may not adhere to certain materials/surfaces.

      @@eeAspect Yes, you wouldn't want it going round any electronic components that may heat up. I get that. Thanks.

    Where do you get those adhesive strips for replacing the back? A kit I bought had everything I needed except glue for the back.
    Thanks for the video, by the way. I wouldn't have had the confidence to try this without watching someone else.

    Followed your demo and got my battery replaced, before I found this video I couldn't get my phone to recognize the new battery. I started charging the battery before I got to the calibration part, charged up to 51% then decided to let it drain to 10% like you did. It is now off the charger and draining, I will let it go then charge and see if that is ok.

    My g7 play with SD632 too, seems so slow these days. Did changing the battery impact performance? Was it in some kind of safe mode with bad battery?

    • @eeAspect
      @eeAspect  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No safe mode, the battery still charged normally, but was draining faster and had the noticeable bulge. Didn't notice a performance impact.

    Damn. why it gotta be so time consuming. back in the day you can just pull off the back and have a battery in within seconds!

  • @obbzerver

    Isn't the official Motorola stance that the battery can't be replaced?

    • @eeAspect
      @eeAspect  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Maybe... if they had soldered the battery leads to the circuit board, that might be the case.

    A little alcohol goes a long way to softening that adhesive, yet going without may be the safer way

      Bought it from ifixit, so it is an original battery not a generic clone, the link to the battery is in the description.

    Did my own. broke some of the bottom back plate, unscrewed and peeled back the ribbon connectors, started prying the BA up when the old still in the phone hissed and cought fire 1 second Chemical smoke I evacuated from the room, But the inside of the phone is burnt beyond use.... Installer beware. That old BA was puffed up, it had expanded before

      No. Usano nastro adesivo sul coperchio e sulla batteria, non colla. Solo la colla deve essere riscaldata.
      No. They use tape on the lid and battery, not glue. Only the glue needs to be heated.

      Yes, I had to check and of course I am right. You have not made a single video. Instead of being appreciative of the effort put forward, you criticize it. It shows your true colors.

    • @g8way2k1
      @g8way2k1 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes Red; White; and Blue. Kind of presumptuous to say "You have not made a single video," wouldn't you say? If you can't take a "passive" suggestion, then maybe you should reconsider and not be so defensive. What's your colors?@@ggsipaper

      It is not presumptuous when you have no video content on your channel. I appreciate the time the guy took to make and post the video regardless of the editing. He probably has a life rather than criticizing other people's youtube videos and doesn't have the time or interest in editing to perfection for your taste.

    • @g8way2k1
      @g8way2k1 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh what a tangled web we weave. Hate to bust your bubble, but not having content specifically where 'you' can see says nothing about what experience I have or don't have. Just another suggestion here: Your insistence to continue this nonsense here surely can't bode well in the eyes of your subscribers. You appear to be terribly insecure, but carry on if you must. @@ggsipaper
