Kiritsugu once left to a chance problem that he could solve personally and we saw what happened. So now he will leave nothing to a chance as long as he can deal with it with his own hands.
The chance for a wasp to survive is 0. It's not just the explosion, it's the cold, it's being over the ocean a lot of miles away from land. And lots of gulls around there. If the plane had landed somehow, chances are way higher for a wasp to survive and escape. Especially if you want to save her out of the plane alive. And most likely the mages would have burned down the whole area where the plane lands with the plane and since it's a big plane you can't just land everywhere you need the space for it to land with the right ground to land. The only safe places to land an airplane this big without the risk of crashing cause of the landing area is an airport. So lots of people around that would have been killed by the mages. If you crash land outside an airport, it's nearly 100% a wasp survives and escapes. There are just some times where there are only bad solutions, blowing up the plane was the best of these bad solutions and from Natalias smile when she gets that he has blown up the plane, she too, knew that this is the only way.
People forget that the timeline of the plane blowing up is before 1990's. So seals on the cockpit wasn't as good, the Tempered Glass could still be easily broken, etc... But there's no way they could have contained the plane in broad daylight in a public setting. Sure contacting the Mage Association and have them setup a sealed landing strip (or in the water), the wasps could still infect other living beings. For Natalia to escape, she needs to have magic that would let her be able to land safely 30,000 feet up in the air. As a Merc and not part of the Mage Association? Yeah, she's ill equipped for this mission. She should have seen the possibility that she would have need to blow-up the plane and have prepped for skydiving.
That slippery slope. On your wasp issue: The Mages Association and/or the Church are willing to torch entire cities if there's a chance that there's an infestation. If he let it land, that was more likely to happen. That was on his mind. Sure, there was a chance that a wasp would survive the explosion, but not as big as something escaping after landing.
because if they won`t do that, it will be most likely work for a Counter Force, and this is the last thing Mage Association wants to see in action. It will be brutal even by their standards
The reason why she couldn't just jump out of the plane is due to her being over the ocean. At a certain height, falling into the ocean is like falling on a rock, so she wouldn't just break, but also drown right after. Odds are, those that survive falling at those heights would be over land, since even if you break, you wouldn't immediately drown right after.
I think this episode really shows that Kiritsugu is so brutal now that he just jumps straight to blowing up the plane and leaving absolutely no chance for anything bad to happen He wants to make sure he can actually save people this time, unlike his own village because he didn't kill Shirley There probably were plans where Natalia could have lived, but he didn't consider them
There aren't any plans that ensure her survival and the destruction of the bees and ghouls at the same time. In every situation that he lets the plane land, be it in the ocean (impossible by the way), or in the airport, the possibility or even one bee - wasp escaping is a nightmare scenario. Remember, the plane is heading for New York. And is in close enough proximity now that even if it landed on the ocean, it is close enough that the bees would fly inland easily and they wouldn't be able to stop them. If a bee escapes and bites anyone, then you have the possibility of 10 million people becoming Zombies. A mega city destroyed, magic exposed and a real headache for everyone involved with even war being a real possibility. Are you willing to take that risk? When there is no scenario I can think of and no one has thought of until now that would ensure that this didn't happen? Kiritsugu had to make a decision in this instance. And he made the only real decision that would not destroy the world, even if that decision broke him. Of all the decisions that you can criticize him for, that is the one that I don't think that anyone can say was the wrong one, even morally speaking.
Now you've got me thinking of alternate ways to deal with that situation such as turning off the pressurisation leading to hypoxia if not wearing a mask, adjust the cabin temperature either with the dial or trip the breaker so it steadily gets colder..
Love the reactions keep it up. as far as the plane is concerned one thing nobody is mentioning is when the plane blew up it created a massive pressure wave, that pressure wave alone would be enough to kill all the wasps.
erm spiderman killed plenty people (over 15 that i have heard of... including his parent's murderer) ... they DONT SHOW you how many died.. and some have been in self defense ... but people has totally died ... is actually a plot point in the comics the guild he has for the deaths he has caused because he tried to live under his no-kill rules...but that rule has been broken in occasion ... in the comic... no way they gonna show them in the movies.
To be fair, Spiderman (and probably Superman too) doesn't exactly have a "no kill rule" for themselves like Batman do. They're simply just good people that believed killing is bad by any reasons behind it so they typically wont kill and will try their best to find a better solution even in terrible situation. Batman on the other hand made himself a strict rule about no killing.
Purpose of Mage Association in this cases is to keep existence of magic in secret, and it`s a bit troublesome when it causes disasters. So yes, they deal with such cases, but not because they want to save people, but because it`s in their direct interests to keep it down. Mystery is one of key aspects for magecraft to exist in Fate after all. Btw, they managed to find replacements for those jet fighters that was lost in battle against Caster`s monster on the river. As well as shutting down all witnesses.
Putting anime logic out. You must understand a plane is pressurised, high altitude, extremly cold and they are over the ocean. The wasp wouldn't be able survive in that type of environment with destroying the plane. The danger of wasp getting out is then greatly less than if the plane was on the ground. Not everyone knows how to fly a plane.
The Fate Zero and Madoka Magica animes were released the same year (2011) and written by the same screenwriter, Gen Urobuchi. Not to mention that the music composer for both animes was Yuki Kajiura and his band, Kalafina. Without a doubt a great year for Urobuchi and Yuki kajiura.
28:20 there's a 100% chance a wasp will infect an entire city there's a 10%-30% 1 wasp survives the explosion and infect an island since the plane exploded in the middle of the sea. Everyone is more willing to burn up an island(as seen in Arimago Island) than burn up a whole city. I don't know why that's such a hard concept to understand. And if you can't accept that answer, then the Author probably just wants to show you how much Kiritsugu is willing to sacrifice to save the many, writing fantasy would be so boring if everything about it is written logically.
Luke's plan is great! Just that Kirisugu so into the idea of "if anything goes wrong, kill it". This scenario show more of a mental issue than a radical solution. That's why it's exactly right how you feel that way.
Well, about your question about whether blowing up the plane wasn't more risky? mmmm no offense but it is a little ignorant question. But it's not bad to be somewhat ignorant, we all are, but I think this is a question of logic. It is impossible for them to have survived because: 1 the same explosion, the oxygen was burned, 2 the speed of more bees or their reaction time is not very high 3 the explosion in the anime was seen to cover the entire plane but let's suppose that there is a possibility that the explosion did not blow up the entire plane and there are pieces where the birds have not been hit by the fire, but there is something that if no one It tells you and it is that many times what kills the explosion or hurts you (as a human) is the shock sling that if it is very strong it can burst your eardrums to kill you causing severe damage to your organs. Now imagine this with insects that are less resistant than humans, and I'm talking about bees I hope you are not offended by calling yourself ignorant, I am also ignorant on many topics. But I hope it has helped you to understand that it is impossible for any person or animal (other than a water bear) to survive something like this, no.
Quit trying to make crap up and defeat the point of the plot. The author’s intention is clear, might as well argue there is magic in this world and it’s fake.

also, land on water is extreme task even best of pilots, Natalia had near zero experience.
Happy that year’s mother day
this episode was show right at that years birthday🥲

Fun fact that this episode is on air during mother's day make it 10 times more funnier

Manten by Kalafina is still one of the most heartfelt songs I've ever heard.
I miss Kalafina 😢
Remember guys, this episode brings us back to the 1st episode when they said Kiritsugu blew up an entire plane to eliminate a single target
I think this episode really shows that Kiritsugu is so brutal now that he just jumps straight to blowing up the plane and leaving absolutely no chance for anything bad to happen

Yeah,what a happy mother's day that year
coincidentally, both Madoka Magica and Fate/Zero are written by Gen Urobuchi :D
In the beginning of Zero it was told that Kiritsugu once shot down entire plane to get his target. Now we saw it.

Finally someone that knows that internal and external pressure are a thing 🤣. I'm dying over the over-elaborated theories
Yea listening that plan was so stupid lol

Wasps can't survive an explosion. Wasps can't survive at that altitude. Wasps can't survive crossing the Ocean.
8:12 Spiderman, you really said spiderman is good? Are you NUTS?!!!
28:20

The first time I saw this I didn't cry thanks to the scene but the song at the end man that killed me
The finale of this episode always makes me cry
Luke's plan is great! Just that Kirisugu so into the idea of "if anything goes wrong, kill it". This scenario show more of a mental issue than a radical solution. That's why it's exactly right how you feel that way.
To be fair, the wasps on its own are probably not going to do much. Otherwise, the mage won't need a whole box or body full of it and still be killed.
Well is nearly imposible land in the ocean a commercial plane safety enough. They need to get rid of the evidence the mage world must remain secret.
Well, about your question about whether blowing up the plane wasn't more risky? mmmm no offense but it is a little ignorant question. But it's not bad to be somewhat ignorant, we all are, but I think this is a question of logic. It is impossible for them to have survived because:
