A quadruple portion of bacon is always a good meal to an American
Hi Max as a Asian Canadian can you make 梅菜扣肉 also? Basically braised pork, you can also check out the “pyramid” version❤
Growing up in a Chinese family this shit would slap so hard for dinner
i would die for that omg
THIS DISH HITS SO HARD IT COULD GIVE ME A CONCUSSION
Who’s gonna tell max he’d be very well off at this point and can go back and visit the cafeteria anytime he wants and even still make content off the trip!!
Oh LORD now is not the time to visit China, *especially* since foreign visits are at an all time low!
This looks like future Christmas dinner 😊 Thanks Max!
imma give u some tutorial vids
if you want larger chunks of meat and serve one huge piece per person, then you might also wanna try looking up 东坡肉. Make sure to not make it too sweet, and the sugar melting technique is extreme challenging but you can skip the step by just using some 老抽(old soy). Hope you have a wonderful Christmas dinner.
Now i want a hong shao pork jerky.
This!
Shanghai style hongshaorou usually begin with “炒糖色”
Nobody cares
@@underhorse5367 Try telling that to Italians reacting to us putting Pineapple on pizza.
If I could cook half the stuff max has made in the last 4 shorts, I would either be a world class chef or have world class cholesterol problems.
Edit: if this comment gets to 150 likes I will buy a pack of max’s jerky and convince my dad to try it with me. (Assuming I can find him again).
Edit: since I have now gotten the correct amount of likes, I shall fufill my promise to you all and buy the jerky. Once I get my grubby little hands on it, I will post a video on my yt channel with the jerky and me eating it.
world class danger
*and*
Wym if? yu literally can wym
Can't have one without the other, I always say
Don't limit yourself, you can do both.
Just in time for winter too! Authentic Chinese food is easily the best in the world. I miss hongshaorou and meicai kourou more than anything.
Chinese flounder was and is the best thing I’ve ever eaten. China town. 16 Mott st. I went with my late best friend for Chinese new year and stayed with his family. We were supposed to treat them to dinner for thank you but they just kept ordering everything. They ordered one of everything on the menu and more. When I got the bill it was thousands of dollars and I barely had a couple hundred if I recall correctly. They laughed at me and said they would never expect a young guest to pay.
I love this dish but my mother hasn't cooked it in years. The reason may probably be because it takes a lot longer to make than other things to cook.
add more spices: whatever makes up 5 spice powder (star anise fennel seeds sichuan peppercorn cloves cinnamon) put in a sachet and add it taste way better. also id recommend caramelizing the sugar before adding water for the pork to have a nicer color
I made this once and it was AMAZING, its nice seeing Max make chinese food
So how did ya do it?
A random recepete
"WORLDS best CHINESE dish"😂
The dish is bussin but the way he said it was toooo funny😂😂😂😂
I love all of the stories associated with these dishes!
That looks incredible!
As a Chinese person, listen to the song
That motorcycle looks like it’s been through a lot 😂
Chef hint recipe in description greatly appreciated🎉🎉🎉🎉

See what you have to do, is sell your beef jerky in places like Walmart or gas stations where people could actually buy it and enjoy it that same day
Just a suggestion but could you start adding subtitles to you vids pls
As a chinese person myself i can really agree with how you made it, I still dont get how some dudes get pissed at people who make a dish that isnt “their” countries
As an Authentic Hong Kong Person, its delicious.

I've been to Shanghai with my family of 5 for Christmas last year. We went to this "cafeteria" which in Shanghai, was just another name for an eatery, they served these dishes in small plates and you would pick what you want, put them on your tray, and walk to the cashier to pay before finding any available table to sit down and eat. Since everything looked so good we picked one of each dishes, 12 dishes total and went to grab some rice on a different counter. The kitchen ladies smiled and decided to give us the rice for free because we bought a lot. Then as we were halfway through the meal they brought us a large bowl of soup for free and said watching us eat was a joy because not many Shanghainese locals bring their families around to the eatery (it was a business district). So as thanks, we decided to buy more food to-go. It was a very happy memory I will never forget.
The perfect Christmas gift for my dad 😂
As a Vietnamese person, this literally a top 5 dish for me
As a Korean I agree. We all thank China for introducing us this pork dish.
Can you do a video in cinese?
truck tour!?!? make a vid showcasing ur ride?!?! i feel like u got a nice truck
my grandma makes me this dish every time i go back to china to visit my grandparents
Finally ! This dish is getting the recognition it deserves. It is just so different from what i am used to in terms of flavors , texture and everything. I wish i could eat it one more time as well.
i was waiting for Max to tell us about this dish
As a Shanghai resident I can confirm that my mom makes this for dinner every week
Video idea: Season a steak with the crust of a steak seasoned by another steak.
my mouth literally flooded when i saw it with the rice bruh, I got a bit of a half chub goin too
Bro try it with a sear, then mix the belly with caramelized bin tang, and proceed with the same braising technique, freaking god send!

Everything relates back to beef jerky 💀
the way he said hong shao rou hurt me

Max: I used to live in China
As a Chinese this dish that I’ve been eating when I was a child is straight up A+
Scrolling past the title in my notifications, I thought it said, "I ate a guy in China." I scrolled back up super fast thinking, "You what mate?!"
Hong shou rou and siu yuk i would say are the two best ways of preparing pork belly in chinese cuisine.
And that's saying a lot as someone whos korean.
Who would have thunk that a city in China has a bunch of places that serve Chinese food
I'm so excited for the discount!!
When I first learnt to cook this, I made it for a straight week
As a Chinese I could confirm this meal is straight up bussin bussin 😂
Man when is max creating a restaurant😔
I miss the street dumplings. Can't find them where I live, and I don't think I'll find them anywhere in the US. But if I could go back in time and have just one bowl of soup dumplings...I would kiss those little ladies in Shanghai working hard in that closet of a dumpling shop. Only in my dreams😊
that looks real good, max can make anything look good
Omg, my mom is chinese and when she makes that dish im so happy, its my comfort dish
Love the China stories. Reminds me of my works trips to Hefei a few years ago.
do a video where you speak a little bit of mandarin!
Send some to Scotland and I’ll make a killer advert trying it!
Just bought a 4 pack of the jerky! So pumped
Not only bacon but also several spoons of sugar
Best dish ever. Beats past and burgers
I made this yesterday, using your recipe. Literally the most tender meat I’ve ever had!
Here's an idea on what you can cook, beef brisket wrapped up in crispy pork belly
Is that just whole bacon? 🥓
Thats just they way every commercial should be.
