I’m Vincent Racaniello, Earth’s Virology Professor, and I believe that education should be free.

Another great episode. I always love when the whole gang is there, but this episode had a different rhythm... like I was eavesdropping on the two brilliant guys talkin' shop in the next booth over. Thank you for being awesome.
@@JillKnapp yes, this worked well. I do like it if there is an immunological topic, to have Prof Brianne there or Rick for Pox viruses and his great questions and explanations, Jolene for phages,...
I'm 40. I had the flu once when I was 13. It was really bad. I still remember how it made my body hurt.
Thanks for the very informative and entertaining presentation. Best wishes

I like Alan because he brings his knowledge without trying to be funny all the time. Nice podcast.
Thank you Vincent.
Im in Florida & collect rain water in large containers for watering my plants. They do breed mosquitoes.. until I water the plants I’d pick up the eggs and water the plants or it rains again and the rain overflows. I’d sometimes find frogs in them which will eat the mosquito eggs!
I loved Billy and Molly. It's adorable, human and charming.
Thank you !
I’ve gotten extremely sick before especially as a kid and teenager. Who knows what infection it could’ve been though.
I have more strings to my bow!
Not only do I not understand your Virology lectures, but I'm reading Hawkins A Brief History of Time and don't understand a word of it either haha!
Hi Wil
Have you read The Art and Politics of Science by Dr Harold Varmus? That is what I am reading now and it is fascinating. His career path is inspiring.
@@LisaMartinez-ri6ve Not yet!
I had Covid again recently. I honestly believe I’m experiencing Long Covid. Fatigue and lack of thinking/processing clearly I’m also experiencing. It keeps on coming and going! I feel completely fine and energetic one hour then like complete crap another hour. Im also a healthy young male. I feel like it’s quite devious with the immune response. The virus seems like it’s mutating quite a bit if I’d have to guess.
Doppelgänger IS a must read indeed
When i watch your show (not sure "show" is the right word, but i have an excuse, i am french !)...
so i said, when i watch your show, i say : Vive la science !
In the digital word you are one of the few island of sanity.
(in addition, you're helping to defeat charlatans like prof Raoult and consors)
Maybe to avoid risk of blood spread of liposomes with mRNA, intradermic inject way will be safe, even IT must be learned and can be painful(but can use local anestetics -with risk of alergic reactions)(?)(and cicatricial local lesion can occur, like after small pox vaccination )
Nice bacteriophage in the background Mr. Dove. Lol.
The tools having a new video.
Great.
We need to quit making laws on things that font need laws just to say. Hey look I did something.
Argh, why do Psychiatrist want to tell virologists, they don't know virology. My Ex does it. An MD is not mean you're a PHD in everything, that's not what MD is. It means your familiar with things about the body. Dunning Krueger affect! Cognitive Dissonance. Want to ask a question about virology, and you got 2 choices a PHD virologist and an MD. Go with the Virologist!
Vincent: "We don't debunk articles!"
You sure took a blowtorch to Alina Chan's NYT article three weeks ago, and several times since.
You guys have no self-awareness!
@@JimbeauxGo there have been 1129 episodes and Chan's article was in the NyTimes and they got lots of requests for a response. They had already covered the topic multiple times but most people are not aware of that so they covered the origin again. If we don't"t fix wild mammal spillovers, expect more catastrophes.
@@JimbeauxGo Susan Oliver's "Back to the Science" and Dr Wilson's "Debunk the Funk" cover debunking.
Osterholm in a Cidrap podcast recently countered Alina Chan’s article also in a similar manner as the TWiV team . Futhermore multiple commenters online in various journals did the same with a rebuttal to Chan.
Special delivery for Jim! Here's that attention you ordered!
