Hell yeah. I'm not gonna lie, even tho i've seen many vocal coaches' reactions to my favourite songs you keep constantly pointing out the details that i've never noticed in those tracks. You're gorgeous, thank you so much and bless
You uploaded this in the midst of my Oceans Ate Alaska binge! Love the videos, I just came to the channel a fee days ago and this is probly my favorite reaction channel. Please do Escapist by Oceans Ate Alaska you won't be disappointed
Ahhh these Brummies. I only ever listened to their Lost Isles album and haven’t delved down to their latest stuff. I thought the band split up last year...probs just a crock. Anyway, I like this and that sick breakdown got me. Thank you for this, Chase, will check out more from them.
You should check out Heir to the Throne ft. Tim and Scott from polyphia by I Am Abomination it's from their newest album and it has the same drummer as these guys Chris Turner!
He said Rule of Nines is in his queue. That would be the best intro to the band in my opinion. Definitely not Holy Roller. I think the channel, more than Chase, needs to work up to that beast.
Their previous vocalist is now in a band called Livealie. Nik Nocturnal did a reaction to their recent song "VHS". They've also got a video for one called "Death Blooms". (not a Mudvayne cover lol) They're both very good songs, a fair bit different than Oceans Ate Alaska. Not necessarily a channel suggestion, just some good tunes to check it out sometime if you're interested. :)
If you like this breakdown, you might want to checkout Kai Tangata by Alien Weaponry. They are a metal band from New Zealand that sing in both English and their traditional Mauri language.
Love your reactions ! :) In a different kind of music, I'm curious to see your reaction and analysis to a sound like "BFG Division" from Mick Gordon. Something tells me that you'll like it :)
Arch Enemy 'Revolution Begins' I needed a dose of Angela Gossow and went through older AE, this song struck me as ripe for your analysis. That line-up (my personal favorite) features the brother tandem of Mike and Chris Amott on guitar in addition to the Queen of scream Angela. I know my ear recognizes a lifetime familiarity in guitar playing, I'm curious as to what makes that happen. Both guitarists are gifted and very different in approach (Chris left to pursue other styles, his solo work is also great and anything but death metal). Live Angela is metal personified but I think a dive into the music would hold more value here for what the band was then.
@@scottt7458 apparently not. That era of pure fucking metal was awesome, the changes brought great talent but the sum of the parts doesn't add up like it did.
Chris is an insane drummer, but most people overlook his dynamics. He's a master when it comes to complex rhythms but he is constantly accenting certain notes to give the riff more flavor.
I only heard this one song and I hate the drums on this. It’s so disconnected to the rest of the other musicians. Parts feel so empty with weird snare note placements. Feels like he’s playing a different song.
This would be interesting live. Of course, they would have to be VERY controlled and aware of the MATH that's behind it. There's a LOT of math here. No room for "phoning it in". ;)
Haven't seen much footage with the new Vocalist, but I can assure you the Instrumentalists are very good live. Really tight, well timed, the drummer is even better live than on the album, throwing in additional ghost notes and snare work etc.
Seen them live and they're very impressive even though it was through a club soundsystem with not many people there (was a reschedule show for a mini festival they were headlining) so firstly, go see them if you get the chance and secondly, at least from my one experience with them, id say they can manage it!
Always nice to see someone enjoy music in a similar way. Chris Turner is a drum god. I like the singers shouts/growls, but often prefer the instrumental version of the songs (available for their last two albums). If it is not yet on your list, I am pretty sure your community and ofc you as well will enjoy: Vitalism | Pagan Part II ..... OAA are working on a new album, they already recorded the drums for it afaik, really looking forward to it. There is an incredible drum playthrough for their song "Entrapment" from the Hikari Album (youtube. "Chris Turner - straight up DW Drums" ... Also: The song "Hikari" has a nice jazzy intro.
To be honest, it didn't really float my boat. It felt... complacent, I guess? But it is unfair to assess your feelings for a band from just one song or just one listen. Sometimes, another listening or a different day can completely change the way a song or group hits you. In my opinion anyway...
Question: you mentioned to me before that you got a long list to react to... so... how many songs are on it xD btw. I really like your channel, I get to hear lots of cool songs.
Hey Chase, I noticed you frequently mention palm muting - could you perhaps take the time in one of your next videos to talk a bit more about it and especially explain how to recognise it? And regarding that list of yours: you could also just pick a random song every now and then and do "C2R2 - Chase Carneson's Random Reactions". ;-)
@@ChaseCarneson Uhhhh, yes please! Getting all fidgety in anticipation, gonna be even harder waiting for it, and I'm already refreshing my browser every 5 minutes after 4:30 PM looking for a new video. ;-)
Hey Chase, you should check out Shadowside's video Alive. They are a metal band from Brazil with a Swedish bassist. I saw them open for Anvil a few years back and was blown away. They are also some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Cheers!
In response to your Eluveitie comments a few days back, I'm posting this here in hopes that it doesn't get smothered in the comment avalanche. Wagakki Band from Japan combines modern and traditional instruments in curious and fascinating ways. Modern electric guitar, electric bass, and drum kit are meshed with shamisen (resembling a 3-string banjo), koto (similar to a dulcimer but the size of a dining table), shakuhachi (bamboo flute), and wadaiko (traditional hand drums). The eight band members wear traditional costume and make a beautiful visual accompaniment to music that ranges from pop to almost metal. I'd love to see you give it a try: th-cam.com/video/0hfr3fzei7o/w-d-xo.html
CHASE! Chase! CHASEEEEEE! Sorry I'm just trying to get your attention lol. This isn't a request but more of a personal suggestion because I think you might actually enjoy the band, Separations. It's not a huge or well known band but I know of them because of one of the members who was positing about checking out the band. I can't say I know him or anything but I believe I must have gone to school with him or met him in passing through mutual friends. Anyways, with all that useless information aside, I just felt like you may (or may not) enjoy them! Again their name is Separations. Dream Eater would be their most well known song. Check them out if you want to!
you gotta check out another band called LIVEALIE the ex vocalist of this band (James) is the lead for them and they just dropped a single recently called VHS and I think you'd like it!!
Your reaction videos really stand out. This song is quite boring for me compared to bands in the same genre like Lorna Shore (Immortal), Slaughter to Prevail or Shadow of Intent (Melancholy). For something different, please analyse Fleshgod Apocalypses Sugar (push, push, push, push... epic).
Really????? That's amazing.
Yeah, he wants to be all live drums on every album from here on out. No samples.
I swear you would love thornhill, the song "where we go when we die" especially. The atmosphere they create is very unique
Agreed. Not enough people have reacted to this in general, but especially with the in-depth analysis. I would love to see that.
Views From the Sun is such a banger, Thornhill became a favorite after the first listen
Hell yeah. I'm not gonna lie, even tho i've seen many vocal coaches' reactions to my favourite songs you keep constantly pointing out the details that i've never noticed in those tracks. You're gorgeous, thank you so much and bless
Glad you enjoyed it. And thank you for the very kind words.

So glad you found the channel. Thanks for the support and reccomendation.
Escapist for sure. I searched through the videos in hopes he got a chance to post that.
When you realize years later that the cast in this video are the same actors who get wrecked in the Escapist video.
You're introducing me to so many new bands to check out, I love it
Glad you're enjoying and finding new music here. Thanks for the support.
How did I miss this reaction!?!? This band is insane. Please check more from them 🎶
Do Escapist or the new one Metamorph!! total lit both

Buddy, this was my most listened to song last year. Such a great, great song.
To bad jake can't do it live
The breakdown to the death metal tone was absolute gold 👌
Love this song
Never heard of this band. Interesting.
Your breakdown of the song is amazing. You really know what you’re talking about
Love these guys! Great video as always!!! You should check out Spiritbox! I would recommend either Rule of Nines or Beauty in the Suffering!!

Wow. Im one of the firsters
