      Yes lawd. I'm in northern Indiana and around this time ham hocks are either in the meat section or completely not there. When you see them, you had better get as many as you need for holiday cooking or you'll be subbing.

      I stopped eating pork a few years ago. And i love using smoked turkey too. But I can season my greens without any meat and is still bangin.

    I haven't tried to cook collard greens yet. That was my mothers thing and people LOVED her collard greens (she was from the south)! My older sisters cook them though. She did teach me how to clean them though. We would put the fresh collard greens in the sink, fill the sink with water and put salt in the water. I had to do it 3 times. My mom also used bacon, or ham hocks or turkey legs. She also stored her bacon fat.

    I’m going to cook this tonight for my college daughter! I haven’t tried making corn bread with cheese! Exciting !!!! Love you Tia! Your so amazing and I love how you get sooo excited over food that’s how I am in the kitchen when I throw down! Being a mother of 8 children food is the center of our day! The best time to be together and converse with one another! 💗my kids even do the dance when the food is good! Ha!

    For the vegetarians, use smoked paprika for a nice taste without the meat!

    Beautiful job Tia. So, I'm a triplet and so we kinda do a little dance where we ea take on our own roles in the kitchen. Us triplets make up 3 out of 5 daughters. ^_^ one makes mash, one makes rice one makes greens. My baby sis is the baker in the family. It's so beautiful the peace and joy cooking brings and the memories created. ❤❤❤

  • @bisleyblackhawk1288
    @bisleyblackhawk1288 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    My grand mother used to pick up fresh cracklings at a local butcher shop and mixed them into the cornbread mix...sweat the cast iron skillet to make the crust crispy (I always love the sound and smell of the mix hitting that hot skillet 😋)...served with homemade butter...collard greens, pintos (all with homemade chow chow), homemade coleslaw...plus sweet tea 😊. Meat at Thanksgiving could be baked ham, turkey, baked or fried chicken and sometimes meat loaf and even BBQ...but was always good and the family enjoyed it immensely as well as seeing the family and friends 👍👍👍

My hubby and I had our baby the day of our 20th wedding anniversary and last weekend, ive organize a house party and I've prepared the meals you thought us to do. Everyone congratulate me and in return, i just wanted to say thank you from all the way from France. Faithful quickfixer forever.
