What a wonderful song. In my opinion, it’s one of the sweetest, most romantic songs of all times. From time to time my wife and I dance to this song in the privacy of our home, just the two of us enjoying this marvelous song, and our marvelous life together.
It was January of '67 and in a few months I would turn 18... and that's when I first heard this song. It immediately captured me with it's beautiful melody, it's romantic lyrics and the wonderful sounding harmonies that brought it full circle. To me, I'd never before heard a more beautiful and heartfelt sounding song, which over-night made it my favorite slow song. Now here I am, 75 years old (57 years have passed) and it still remains my all time favorite slow song. Back in the mid to latter 60's, whomever said that Doo Wops are dead, had absolutely no idea that it would be this Doo Wop (and many other great Doo Wops) that would withstand the test of time and they still satisfy us to this day... Great Songs Never Die! I wish to say "Thank You" to all of the Casinos for singing this song as they did, when they did and for putting a smile of satisfaction on my face every time I hear it!

Yeah, I couldn’t have, because He was alive and he and Norman used to visit us often, but I do sing pretty good myself which I believe runs in the family. My grandpa was Glenn Hughes. My daughter has a great singing voice. She may have inherited it from Gene.
Gene was a pallbearer at my brother, Al Stith's, funeral service. He was the producer of this album and song. Al died of cancer right after producing this. He was only 21. He had another brother Bill, and

That is what makes this such a great doo-wop song. I did get to know Gene in 1973/74. He worked with an agent that booked our band. A very nice man with a great personality. I play guitar and bass and playing horn or wind instsruments is "foreign" to me. So I really appreciate such well-recorded lush horn arrangements.

The Casinos all hailed from Cincinnati, Ohio and were a 9 member band! The lead singer Gene Hughes and his 2 brothers are the voices you hear in the Doo wop to Soul classic from 1967! The group recorded for King Records which James Brown was the main recording artist for the label at the time! The Godfather Of Soul really loved this tune as well and later recorded it! The song has been covered by many artists but give me Gene Hughes and The Casinos version anytime!

Hard to believe this single was released from their Dec. 1966 album & reached #6 in 1967, The Summer of Love (which gave us "Somebody to Love" & "Light My Fire"). It sounds like it's from the 50s, which I think was why it appealed to so many listeners.

I'm 65 years old, when I first heard this song it was at a drug store in corpus Christi Texas , they had a bar where you would go up and order a milkshake or Sunday, I remember turning around to face the jukebox, the music was just taking all my attention, the sound of Genes voice grabbed all of every emotion I ever knew, ,,, now even after so many years, it all comes right back , so great a song, so great a singer, and so great a time for music, feel so privledged to have heard this song in it's originality, I will never forget the very special feeling of that time.
