    Just found this channel and I love it! You are my spirit animal. I bought a veterinary clinic-level microscope to do fecal examinations on my horses, but I also keep tarantulas and have managed to sex very small spiders (you do it with the molt). I also love putting random things under the microscope just because.

    Another thing that's interesting to look at is common table salt, NaCl. Though you can't put it in a drop of water under a cover glass because the crystals will dissolve, so you have to shake a bit of it loose on a slide and be careful not to breathe on it.

    I found many rotifers and nematods in a little crack in my kitchen that is usually wet. Also if you put some leftovers in a little water you may find ciliads as well, and also bacteria, I think.
    If you have some moist in the bathroom you might want to take a look there also. I found colonies of rotifers

    Just with 10 things you made a great video
    Do you thing that there are some micro organisms that have not yet discovered such as
    those in the depths of oceans for example or is it not possible

    • @Microbehunter
      @Microbehunter  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is actually a known fact, that the majority of microorganisms have not yet been discovered yet. We know that becasue only a small fraction of bacteria can actually be grown in lab conditions in order to study them. Scientists know that there are many more microorganisms, because they did a direct DNA study. I talked (a bit) about this topic in my other Channel, here is a link: th-cam.com/video/pjN-RInX3mg/w-d-xo.html

    I have an IMT-2 Olympus and noticed this excessive purple fringing/chromatic aberration. I have same objectives and phase objectives, they all exhibit this. I'm starting to believe its the Olympus microscope itself their prisms are causing this excessive color fringing. I have a Motic microscope also and same objective no purple. I need to test more. What do you think Mr Microbehuhter?

    I grafted a few root stocks today... Your video makes me curious about cross sectional view of the cambium layer.. I dont own any microscope.. I think it would require huge lenses to do so..

    • @Microbehunter
      @Microbehunter  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cambium cells (like many other plant cells) can be seen easily with 100x total magnification (10x eyepiece and 10x objective). So you do not need much magnification.

    When the news is talking about the Covid 19 virus they always show someone in a lab looking through a microscope, what could they possibly be looking at in connection with the virus? Thanks

    • @Microbehunter
      @Microbehunter  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think they are using stock images/videos. You need electron microscopes for viruses, and they are large, expensive. Having someone in a white lab coat looking through a microscope is something everyone can identify with. It has become something of a representation of a "scientist" or "science" and they use it in the news to make it appear more interesting.

    • @truckeejp
      @truckeejp 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @Microbehunter
      @Microbehunter  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have 2 options: PCR or an ELISA test. These can not be done at home. Microscopes don't work, unfortunately. Viruses are too small to be seen with a microscope. Hepatitis can be easily determined by going to the doctor, who will then take some blood and send it to a lab.
