Used in a tent, a heater this size will cycle on/off way more than necessary, shortening the heater's life. Or, you can run it constantly on low and have carbon build-up in the combustion chamber. This size heater is more than enough to heat an extended van with a high roof while the roof vent is wide open. The jacket wasn't overkill...the heater was. Wishing you good luck with it all the same.
@@tyler4081 Yeah, a buddy of mine got an 8kW heater for his Ford E-series rig and it has been nothing but headaches trying to regulate the temperature. It's basically on, off, open vent, close vent, repeat. All night long. Not to mention the excessive fuel burned. My rig (a 148" wheelbase, high roof Ford Transit) uses a 2kW heater and it's perfect.
@@matthewsoutdooradv For your tent, a 2kW will be more than enough. I think you'll be much happier in the long term by putting the 8kW unit into the shop. Keep us posted!
I bought the Silvel which is about the same unit. $89 on clearance at Wally World and I love it. No condensation because of the dry heat. Just keep some water in the tent. So much better than a Mr Biddy and cheaper to run.
That's a good deal. I was a little disappointed in this one. It was really loud at first but it seems to be a little quieter after a few runs. It was on amazon for $225 and I got a $40 coupon. Tax and it was still $205.
wow nice setup up Gentleman and great clip, Miles if I had a nickel for everytime fishing didnt work out well for me I would be Elon Cusk lol goodluck fellas cant wait for the next adventure
Just getting into the hunting camping scene and thanks for the great review. Been looking all day at the diesel heater reviews. The Wippro is on my list of choices. Hope you and your family had a Merry Christmas!
Thank you for checking out the video. The Wippro is a good option. I was a little disappointed with how loud it is. It does seem to be a little more quite than the first time I ran it (breaking in?). I hope you have some great camping adventures this coming up year. I hope you and your family had a great Christmas as well. Have a great new year!
I hope it works good in your van. We have some weather coming our way this weekend. They are calling for 6in + of snow. We are going to try and camp in it if it works out. It will be our first ever snow camp.
I used my diesel heater like that to keep my three stall shop over freezing temps when it was single digits temps outside running it on half way open. It will surely heat a tent or camper with no problem without any condensation like you get with propane heat. That insulated heat hose you are using is not recommended to be used with a diesel heater because you get a nasty smell if you run it on high. It will start to melt the inner lining.
It would surely make camping in the cold more enjoyable. I plan to try it out in our gazebo style shelter as well. I was using a propane fire pit but those things go through some fuel.
@matthewsoutdooradv I have a hot tent with a wood stove but it requires waking up every 2 hrs to keep the fire going and you have a fire a foot from your head
I would like to try out a hot tent set up. I always wondered how hard it would be to regulate the temp. I guess it would depend of the size of the stove. I know on some of the roof top tents have a insulated insert. (I need to buy one for mine) I'm guessing the hot tents are insulated as well?
An 8kW diesel heater (rated at 27,000btu) is significantly more powerful than a 1500 watt electric heater(rated at 5120btu), meaning it can heat a much larger area and produce more heat, but it will also consume more fuel (diesel) and may require more complex setup and maintenance compared to a simple electric heater. I have seen where people have used a diesel heater to heat up a two car garage. I hope this helps.
Who makes a good all in one 2kw diesel heater? Most I've seen are 5kw or 8kw. I would like to try a 2k heater to see how well it works. I'm thinking I may use the 8kw for my Bus Shop.

Shoot my 5kw is too much for my 12' ambulance box
Yea, Ive been looking at the smaller Vevor and Hcalory heaters. I may end up just using this one in my bus shop.

@@NomadicPride No such thing as an 8Kw diesel heater, only 2 and 5Kw heaters! The 8Kw is nothing more than marketing hype!

That's good to know about the vent hose, I did notice a little smell after i turned the heater up to 5.
Good video
Thank you!!
Great video bud
I have the same tent on my jeep and some nights are cold but it would work out out for winter camping
We are hoping to get to try it out on a cold weather camp here soon. How do you like your Smittybuilt tent?
@matthewsoutdooradv i had it for about 3 years and love it .....even got the annex also makes a great kitchen
They seem to be good tents. My biggest complaint is how much I have to fight with it to get the cover on. i may just need to practice more with it.
I'm thinking of getting one for my rooftop

@matthewsoutdooradv mine isn't insulated my stove is 8inches wide and maybe 18 deep and like I sad it burns for 2 to 3 hours dampened down
Oh ok, Yeah I'm going to have to get me one...lol
How does an 8 kW diesel heater compare to a 1500W electric space heater heating the space up?

An 8kw heater is for heating a large garage/small shop. 2kw is still going to be too much for a tent / truck cab
