    Couldn’t believe no mention of the marlin 25N. Bought one for my son 40 years ago and liked it so much, bought another for myself. We’ve put thousands of rounds through them and now my granddaughter and her dad use them. I agree completely with the Henry 001. Bought one for my granddaughter before she could crawl. It’s a nail driver and I know she’ll cherish it for life. Nothing says merry Christmas like a Henry under the tree.

    I've had a Marlin Model 60 for 25 years. Still shoots as good as the the day I bought it. My Walther Hammerli Tac R1 is one of the most dead on and best out of the box experience I've ever had. The Walther is hard to beat. It cost 350 USD, but man, it can hit center target at 100 feet with no special sites.

    I have a Remington model 34. My grandfather gave it to me when I was nine years old in '69. Still in great condition. Stock iron sights. Depending on what you read, it was manufactured between 1927 and 1934. Collected a lot of game with it as a youngster. All my kids and grandkids learned to shoot with it. Wouldn't trade it for all of them in your list. Good list though. A lot of good rifles.

      It was a ground breaking design making nylon reinforced plastic a viable gun material. I learned to shoot on one, but it wasn't that great in the quality or accuracy departments. You mounted a scope on the flimsy sheet metal receiver cover and all that flex between the barrel, nylon stock/receiver and cover was a nightmare for accuracy.

    The top 10 criteria here is not defined, as in most accurate? Most sold? Most use able? Regardless though, we know the editor has not chosen any of the 3 criteria scopes I have mentioned.

I have two marlins, semi auto...... one is the classic 60 squirrel gun, and the other is an M1 style Marlin, interesting design, with the same mechanism of the 60. it looks a lot like the Ruger, shorter, 12 shots LR. Marlin 60 should have made the list before any Henrys but i do love my H001. It would be a great bare bones shtf gun that would afford you to carry lots of light weight ammo but force you to hone your shot placement in order to take down almost any game.

    • @turdferguson5300
      @turdferguson5300 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm glad you mentioned the Marlin 60. I got mine in 1977 when I was 13 and a box of ammo was ,50 cents. I recently restored it to better than factory new but it has an awful trigger. The factory trigger was 7 lbs, after replacing it with the Mcarbo trigger spring kit it is 6 lbs. Do you have any tips for reducing the pull weight? I compete with a custom shop Anschutz 1710 carbon trainer with a 10 ounce trigger. I know it can never get there but 3 lbs would be nice.

    I have a Winchester 9422 which, by the serial number, was built in America in 1972. Smoothest lever gun you could want. I also have a Marlin 39, and the Winchester is a much smoother gun to shoot. I don't dislike the Marlin, it belonged to my great grandfather, but the Winchester is a much better rifle in my opinion.

    • @MegaMikeArnold
      @MegaMikeArnold 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, very smooth ime. Marlin lever guns not so much, very rough mechanical feeling action the last I checked one in-person. Your 9422 is a really nice .22...fit and finish, overall quality a cut above.

    Finally! a video that tests the accuracy of a Henry lever action with a scope mounted and a competent marksman squeezing the trigger. So glad to see this result. • @jeffwy5164

      The shape of the Henry stock is more conducive to using the iron sites, making it hard to get a decent and consistent cheek weld when using a scope. I use a leather cheek riser on mine and it’s improved my precision and accuracy. The brown leather also looks right at home on a classic wooden lever gun.

    22LR rifles need to be simple and reliable.. Not heavy with stupid heavy barrels and muzzle brakes or Ar15 looks.. ..
    Lightweight, dovetailed and good trigger.. Most are good enough out to 75m with is a realistic maximum for 22lr..
    Marlin lever guns are among the best, great barrels.. They hold a lot and are reliable.. Anschutz make great barrels and triggers for a bolt action.. Ruger make the best semi auto out there..
    Add a scope no bigger than 9x power.. Leupold rimfire scopes are great..

    • @bencardenas3933
      @bencardenas3933 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends what you are using the piece for. I started shooting in 1947 and have owned several models of firearms. When I was in my shooting peak, I participated in SB Rifle Silhouette matches. The last two rifles I used were: In SB standard rifle, I used an Anschütz 54-18MS, the most accurate .22 rifle I have ever owned, with an 18X40 power Leupold scope. For Hunter Class, I used an Anschütz 1700, toped with a Leupold 6 /12 X 20. I won the OK State SB Rifle Championship with that combo. I took off the 6/12 scope and replaced it with a Leupold 3/12X10, which I think is the best for all around

    I have 3 22's.
    Remington 581s,my Bolt rifle, 10/22 "International" my semi auto, and a Charter Arms "Pathfinder" Revolver, 4 inch, 8 shot DA/SA
    With 2 summers behind me, looking over to the counter I see 14 empty 100 round plastic 22 boxes, and I know I have shot a tad more 22's.
    This is a HOBBY, I like to shoot. So it seems that the 22 is great if you like to shoot....... a lot.
    With the 581 from the bench, 100 yards, a 1.46 inch 5 shot group, on a 9 inch paper plate. 2 of the 5 hits were on top of each other, 2 in the same hole. Cool.
    To step it up a bit I also have 2 357 magnum firearms. A Charter Arms 4 inch "Bulldog" revolver and a "Traditions" Rifle. This is a single shot break action 22 inch Rifle, with a 3x9x40 scope on top.
    I handload for the 357's.
