"Be you, but on good day" 😃 I like that!
When I was doing my teacher training, my mentor would tell me that I'm usually a smiley person, so I shouldn't forget to smile while teaching too! Of course, I was nervous and self-conscious and that's why I needed the reminder!

Team competitions are one of my favourite, but a twist on backs to the board (and this works best in a slightly smaller class) is the class v the teacher - 5 in 60 seconds. Not an original idea, this came from an IELTS training session - recycle a vocabulary set by asking one student at a time to come to the front and sit with their back to the board, the teacher then writes 5 words from the set (you can do this with grammar as well) and the rest of the class has 60 seconds to get their classmate to say the words. They don't have to be in order. I use an online timer with a bomb sound for added BOOM. That way the class are practicing explaining the vocabulary.

Teachers are teachers and not entertainers but...nowadays, they are expected to be the latter, otherwise, their teaching is perceived as...boring.

I don’t think you have to be an ‘entertainer’ but a good teacher has to be engaging I think… (not just nowadays- this has always been true)…
