Can’t wait! Don’t really hear about the Talyllyn diesels after Midlander, so it’s great to see you spotlighting the lesser known engines on the railway!
Kind of a shame that number 10 had to be sold, from what I can remember. I suppose if the railway decides to have a new number 10 (or just a newly built engine entirely), they could always give it the name that Dolgoch was temporarily renamed to; Pretoria.
These make me wonder... If Christopher Awdry had been able to continue writing the Railway Series, would we have seen a counterpart for them on the Skarloey Railway?
They are also numbered in the order they are because №11 was first off the lorry but was then at the far end of the siding, meaning that №12 was the easiest to get at when it came to removal for re-gauging. Extra fun fact, the plates saying which number is which are modelled on those fitted to №5 and №8 in the early days of preservation - including the very circular O in №. The nameplates on both locos are also a unique shape for the Talyllyn, reflecting the makers plate above the radiator grille.
Learning about those two diesels in this video made me surprised that no one has incorporated that same basis in their Thomas series, then Rusty and Fred wouldn't be the only diesels on the Skarloey Railway.
Its a shame that Merseysider and Bryn Eglwys are no longer on the Talyllyn: the Talyllyn Railway could have had an equal number of 6 Steam Engines and 6 Diesel Engines each.
I was hoping they’d make a video dedicated to the two former Talyllyn Railway diesels, but it might not be possible now. That is, unless the enthusiasts who bought them planned to have them pay visits to the railway every now and then.
A little tip for anyone confused by the yellow paintjobs (like I was!), Trecwn was the one with the blue skirts and St Cadfan was the one with the black skirts
"Modern by Talyllyn standards" I love that! Always lovely to see heritage lines with steam and diesel supporting one another

Yes, I do second that.
Nothing to add.
Cheers

There are/were Four Diesels after Alf on the Talyllyn Railway, I would like to see counterparts to them.

Or a counterpart for Charley, he'd be a good explanation for why Duke was number 8 and Ivo was Number 7
@@godzillahomer Charley? As in the Ford Model T on rail wheels?
@@the4tierbridge Nah, Charley's Ant is a converted Mercury Tractor.
@@godzillahomer so then which one had the Ford engine?
Thanks very much for that, It is always interesting to learn more about any of your locos.

Yall really should restore and re-gauge the third deisel
Interesting movie! Cheers, Fabrizio

What do you think that their names would be?
its so nice to have a bit of home at my favourite railway

Also RIP the third baguley

I really liked the models of these diesels, I'm fascinated by your railway!
Trecwn and St.Cadfan are cool. They are modern boxy diesels on a welsh narrow gauge railway and they are 99hp. Cool.
If the railway series had continued then maybe we would have gotten to see the skarloey railway equivalence of trecwn and st. Cadfan

Nice vid man
Awesome video
Very nice!
Amazing!
They look like a hard-working duo!
Blessed 😂
Rip the third🫡
I wonder what would happen if the railway got a passenger diesel like a railcar or electric engines.
So what do you think The counterparts of these guys would be in the railway series
The best names I can come up with are Trent and Calvin.
The latest technology.... I'm just waiting for battery operated trains now 🙂
Poor diesel no engine should be used for parts :(
Oh no diesel are goin to take over the steam railway noooo!
