No matter how many times you've seen these guys live, no matter how rehearsed Corey's crowd talk is, no matter how tuned up everything is, that Spit it Out moment is always, always, aaaaalways great.
@@saturn5087 I guess he's talking about the speed. They always play songs like Spit it out faster live. Check out Psychosocial live, it's fucking insane.
Wanna know something funny, they're my favorite band and one of the reasons I wanted to learn the drums. Before I got into "heavy" music my mom had Slipknot tickets from her office and asked me if I wanted to go. I said no I like em but they're too heavy for me.....well, been playing drums for ten years and I listen to like death metal and all sorts of actual heavy ignorant shit 😂 I'll never forgive myself for that one. One show I'd sell my nuts to see.
Now that they’ve performed at one of the biggest metal festivals in the world, they deserve the title of one of the biggest bands in history. I bet Joey Jordison and Paul Gray were watching this show from heaven.
They deserved to be there, man. Joey actually got to play there with Ministry, but Ministry were not the band that he built from the ground... RIP Legends
The best detail of this whole practice is when he repeats the bridge. The original lyric is "where you gonna be in the next 5 years?", but since its been 23 years since the debut of self titled, when Corey repeats the bridge - he instead says "where you gonna be in 23 years?", much like how at Downlaod 2009 he says "where you gonna be in the next 10 years?". So fucking cool.
Love em or hate em. Slipknot puts on one of the best concerts IMO, been a fan since 2000 and saw them for the 1st time in Italy for my 30th bday. And that jump the fuck up moment was like a religous expirence!
I love the story when these guys were on their first Ozzfest tour. They were doing an interview and someone asked how many people are in the band, Someone replied (I think Either Clown or Corey) "9" and Ozzy walks over and goes "Can I be number 10??" and they were like "...Did ozzy himself make a joke about joining our band??" Could you even imagine?? Ozzy Himself says he likes your music and thinks you're cool.
HOLLY SHIT - This is probably the best Spit It Out. 2009 Download looked awesome, but the sheer size of this is insane :D Also the extra keg hits go down so well.
When the initial drop happened and 80% of the crowd was standing completely…. Shit makes me so mad, I loved both times I’ve seen slipknot and was wild their entire set
Corey's iconic line "Jump da fuck up" is a trademark of his by now. Even considering he was featured on a song called Jump Da Fuck Up by Soulfly. Amazing song too 😁
I think for audience this two year break from Wacken was actually a good thing. The last years before COVID I had the impression that the crowd has become a bit stale and lazy. This year I saw much less people filming or using their smartphone in general, but instead enjoying the concerts and participating.
people can complain and say how they have been thrash, boring blah blah, but like metallica, i appreciate them giving their 100% in live shows, making the paying fans money worthwhile
It took like 20 years until the a big portion of traditional metal fans accept slipknot as something that could be listened. I was part of that group that tought slipknot was too commercial. Nowadays, as I started to carefully listen to their songs I can say do really enjoy them.

I just compared Eloy's version with this. Eloy is definitely a more fitting drummer for them. The guy in this video seems like he's rushing through the main chorus parts. Where Eloy's got that groove down pat already in only one show played.

When Corey says Jay’s name before the breakdown it feels bittersweet somehow.
I like both Joey and Jay’s work with the band. Two awesome drummers.

Edit: I doubt it was Corey who made Jay leave though
