So, mine won't be so lost in a sea of admiration. What I so love about your decorating is the use of restraint and the mixing of modern with the old and antique. That's my favorite style always. And your chateau, although quite old, is very modern looking with all the windows which I love. And the absence of heavy curtains or window coverings of any kind. I love it. Keep up the great work.

Oh the banter you all keep up it’s hilarious! Just a thought - Keep your washing machine clean by periodically checking the hoses then running an empty load with hot water and vinegar. Or use baking soda as well. You could also open the top of the machine and let it sit, all bleach-y and full, for an hour. At the end of the hour, shut the cover and let the machine run a complete cycle.

We know all about wonky houses and how to fudge a little here or there to make things fit properly, even if the measurements were right to begin with. 😉 Thanks for the comic relief! We're working on our kitchen reno at the moment. We took down cupboards over a peninsula to open up the space. Will be adding new wall cupboards, pendant lighting, and a breakfast bar with our new countertop. It's coming along nicely. It could be done for Christmas (YAY!) or my birthday - which is a month later. Easter for sure. 😂🤣 I told my hubby that I figured the kitchen makeover would drag on for months. He's proving me wrong at the rate he's moving it along. A little motivation goes a long way!

It is great that you two engage local tradesmen. Too many of the other british chateau owners seem to exist in an English speaking ghetto, and apparently make no effort to learn to speak French.
Beautiful cabinets!! Ah yes...a stinky washing machine. Always leave the door open on front load machines to allow them to dry out between loads to prevent mold and mildew growing in the machine. Also remember to clean the filter behind the botton panel on the front of the machine every six months. Debris on the filter will begin to decompose causing foul odors. The washing machine drain pipe, like all drain pipes on sinks, tubs, showers, and floor drains require a "U" shaped fitting to prevent sewer gasses from coming up through the drain into the home. Cheers!

Washing pipes smell bad because they are made of plastic (which retains bad smells), there is usually a c bend in them which retains some used non-oxygenated water after every load, and depending on how often the washer is used the water in the bend stagnates = P-HEEEW! ❤️🇦🇺
