I use to live in Dinnington until I was 9 and there was definitely a Pit there is was on the road between Dinnington and Thurcroft - so yes probably Laughton, it closed in 1992
Dinnington is in South Yorkshire. The video started outside one of the Pubs Dinnington used to have. It was called The Falcon and I grew up living there. It was sold off and turned into a restaurant and I understand it’s currently closed.
Thanks for the video its owd Trevor from masbrough that requested dinnington its changed a lot since I was a kid rest of my family lived in dinnington but sadley they have passed away a few cousins are still alive thankfully used to be a club in dinnington think it's a supermarket now where you wasa was walking near them market stallsanyway thanks again dinnington is near sheffield my friend
@@TrevorLewis-qz5bt hi Trevor I got there in the end lol sorry it took an age fella, I know it wasn't a lot as it was just that high street, that Dean's restaurant on that bad bend is still there it's called Venus now. Unsure if it's still trading though, I presume so. Looking at Dinnington from Google earth it's huge, but it's about 50/50 with housing and trading estates.
Good camera mate! Dinnington looks dead compared to 40 years ago. Me and Glyn Bennett were a member of the Dinnington Operatic Society doing shows, think we only went because of the dancing girls lol.
It’s a shame how internet shopping and closing down the pits and industry has killed small business. My wife worked in Dinnington in the late 80’s/early 90’s and it was thriving. We would go on her works nights out to the Miners Institute on Saturday night and you could not get a seat. We would go to the other pubs and a nightclub there and had a great time. Looks like all that has gone from watching your video.
@@Rotherman can’t remember the nightclub name but it was on the way into town as was the Miners Institute. My wife worked for Gateways and by the looks of the video it is Heron nowadays but it was well over 30 years ago so it is hard to remember without actually visiting the town again. I remember seeing a show in the Lyric as well they used to have quite a lot happening there.

@paul1dog was that there where I were Paul? if so it's still doing its business, which I suppose is good.
It's classed as the Sheffield Area. it has a Sheffield postcode any how
@@NexusEmber apparently it comes under the Rotherham Borough. I never knew that. Rotherham has a Sheffield postcode though S
Think council tax comes to rotherham and the town council is part of rotherham. Phone numbers Umbers are worksop dialing code?

I have watched another video and the Heron was definitely a Gateway’s and the miners institute is now the resource centre.
