Another great video..everything you done in this video, I did with my 3050 except 4th gear, but the bearing had collapsed in the bottom shaft in the gearbox and had damaged 1st gear and caused the pinion to get teeth chipped off..so I had to change the diff, I also rebuilt the lift cylinder and in the excitement of getting the 2 halves of the tractor back I managed to damage the intermediate shaft at the bottom, which basically joins the PTO shaft front section to the back..so I ended up searching the country for an intermediate shaft..John Deere dealer couldnt even locate one..went up and down to Conatys twice..eventually got one from Nick Young..so finally after almost 12 months of pricking round I got it back together before Christmas(its in the shed 3yrs 😜).. hope to get the cab back on it in the next couple of weeks..good to see yours worked out well 👍

Thanks Thomas, Yea, very easy to do damage to them if you don’t have things lined up right. Nick young is a great source for parts. Conaty isn’t bad either but sometimes can be a more of a hit and miss. Nick young is just that bit bigger of a set up I would say since he has a bigger market to work from. Both are decent men to deal with all the same when you get to know them.
They aren’t a cheap machine to fix and fairly temperamental is they are not looked after but good to hear you got sorted.
      Thanks again for watching👍🏻

Great video Connor. I grew up working in a JD dealer in the 80's and 90's.. Rebuilding 40 and 50 series back ends and hydraulics took up all my weekends. 👍

Thanks, they certainly do take up plenty of time anyway, that’s for sure!

I always put the shaft into the hi-low unit before assembling back end to front, less chance off breaking those 2 metal rings on shaft also for anybody else be careful the brass bush in shatf doesn't drop out very easy not to notice it missing.

Thanks for the tip, makes sense! I got a dab of grease and put it on the brass bush to stop it sliding out easily👍🏻

Hello Connor. thanks for your good videos about the hydraulic system. i have similar symptoms. To find out more exactly what the problem is, I would first like to measure the pressure. can you tell me the diameter of the screw connection in the lid? where I can connect the manometer. Thanks.

The bearing will be direct from John deere dealer. You can find any parts you need on JD‘s online parts catalog

Are you a trained mechanic or have u just always been rooting away yourself

Well Dan thanks for the comment, I’m a partially trained heavy diesel mechanic and car mechanic, spent a couple of years working at both and all my life working at machinery from home. Built my first engine in my little international from the ground up (you will see it in some videos) when I was 14 from a seized block under tuition from two uncles that are mechanics, this would be the source that I learned most from.
I went on to be a fitter and electrician and now have a honours degree in Mechatronics engineering.
But yes, “rooting away”, some research and never being afraid to ask a question are sometimes your best sources to learn.
      Thanks again for watching.
