    Reconnect the lower radiator hose before refilling with coolant. Also, no flush is happening here and a lot of old coolant is being left in the engine block.

      Planning on doing this soon, how would you recommend making sure it is truly all flushed out? Just running water through a few times?

    • @Blinknone
      @Blinknone ปีที่แล้ว

      @@applenotbanana749 That's what I usually do.. Several (3-5) "drain and fills" with plain water, then filling up with a final mix of new coolant and distilled water. Make sure to drive it enough to open the thermostat a few times each time you drain and fill. Need to get all that fluid circulating.

      +Jeffrey Raguindin Thank you for the great reply. We love to empower our customers by showing you how-to perform your own auto repairs while installing our high quality auto parts. Unfortunately, we can't diagnose your vehicle to tell you exactly what's wrong, we'd suggest getting it checked out by a local mechanic. 1aauto.com

    For those who don't have a temp guage, get yourself a scan tool that registers live data. Monitor the temp using the scan tool. If you're doing your own maintenance, a scan tool is a must anyway.

      Probably too late but yes, coolant will flow to heater matrix. It’s best to do this on every car you do a coolant change on

    What is the reason to flush the coolant lreservoir? I took to Walmart to change the oil and the reservoir broke and needs replacement* I am going to order this part with you guys but I would like luto change it myself, do I need to do all that or if I remove the liquid and replace will be just fine.

    • @90210sky
      @90210sky 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      if your MINI is not too old, you ll be Ok using the same coolant, although it would be a great opportunity to change it, then you ll extend the life of your components. peace of mind.

    • @dlively3013
      @dlively3013 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sounds to me like Walmart broke your reservoir. You have to partially remove it to access the oil filter. That's probably how it got broke.

      @@dlively3013 Except that Mini's are infamous for the reservoir to crack and the plastic weld line. If it's leaking from there.... that's Mini for ya. I am currently swapping my OEM plastic one (plastic weld leak) with an all-aluminum welded reservoir. End of that BS.
