That's a good idea Sandra! Plus Laura can always give them a fresh coat of paint when needed. I really do hope she keeps them there. They are perfect as the garden entrance statement.
I was thinking something like that: maybe a rainx type product? it would be interesting to do an experiement with a couple hydrophobic coatings in test spots!
Or, the Stone Spray Paint, so the hard water spits will blend in
Wax or sealer would work so water is repelled.

Thanks for the little peek at the flower shed. I'm sure I wasn't the only one that was wanting you to run back there and show it to us. It was hard to focus on what you were doing because I kept wanting to see how the shed was coming along! And the planters are beautiful. And I hope you can figure out a solution for the hard water issue because the planters are gorgeous there.
I have always thought those huge containers in the front of your garden is perfect. It’s like opening large French doors to a beautiful room. Can’t wait to see the containers after some growth. The colors and plant selection are beautiful.
The whirling butterfly gaura added the airiness to those planters , One of my favorite combinations you did !
I do dry brush paint on my pots for color changes. You could do a grey and white dry brushing on the black and you won't even see the water stains. It would give a beautiful update to these pots to look like aged barnwood.
The obelisk is a beautiful architectural element in the planter! Absolutely gorgeous!

I love those huge planters. I planted 12 planters yesterday with grasses, cannas and geraniums. Three things I've never used before. Wish me luck.

The containers are splendid, I really like the combination of colors.
I love those black containers! They grandly say welcome to the south garden! Isn’t there a spray paint that gives a stone texture to things? If it would adhere nicely to that material, maybe spray painting it a stone color to mimic your unique stone planters would work to hide the hard water stains. You could even use a couple of colors to make them looked aged.

You could paint your lovely big square planters the color grey that the water deposits make. They also make a lovely 'stone' spray paint that is various particulate matter of varying grey shades that would look gorgeous on those and would most likely hide the 'water spots'. It'd be a fun experiment and you're a dab hand at spray painting. Whatever you decide will be lovely.

Hard water in the worst While back I was on yt or Instagram I seen this video, they were putting down on this clear film to protect the counter tops you might want to look it up and see what you think it might work for you. When you said you would take us on a peek of the garden shed, I must admit, I squealed in delight and clapped my hands. It did not dissapoint. It is so fun and informative to see the various steps it takes to make a vision into reality. A coat of wax may help with the hard water stains on those gorgeous planters. You have given me a new appreciation for the color black in the garden!

I have a suggestion for the hard water stains. I apply 303 aerospace protectant ( uv protection for plastic surfaces in cars) on all my pots and storage box. It works! It repels water. ☺️
Gorgeous my favorite combination. Love you share all your knowledge with us And your amazing family you fill my heart on daily bases. I have very large containers which I have well water with salt softener has hard water stain a couple of years ago a guy suggested that I painted them with top coat that is use for car’s and haven’t Regranted one bit.
I like Sandra’s wax idea. It works on keeping shower doors clean of hard water spots so should work on the containers.

That white Guara has been added to my plant bucket list! I had never heard of Guara until I started watching your videos about a year ago and now I have 3 in my garden! I absolutely love them! Hi Laura and Aaron! Those containers turned out pretty. I hope, with all of the suggestions below, that you can find one that will work on the planters so you can leave them where they are. They really do make a statement there. The shed is coming along really good. I'm still sorry to see it painted white. I liked the light green. Since it's so far away from the other structures, it wouldn't matter if it was the same color. Just my opinion. As long as you're happy with it, that's all that matters. Laura there's spray's you can probably get from your Home hardware store,,or Home Depot,, they are speckled stone sprays. I've refurbished furniture with it... First paint the planter's,, while it's still tacky spray on the speckle stone spray.,, Let dry .then finish with a topcoat of spray varnish... I've used both water based varnish and oil based varnish to finish off. It's optional...It might be worth looking into. I absolutely love watching you and seeing the amazing things you do in your Yard.. your such a inspiration for me and so many people. Keep up the wonderful work and THANK you for sharing.

I used gaura last year as a center piece in a container. It wintered over in my zone 6b. I planted in my flower garden early this spring.

You should paint (spray) the outside of the gorgeous boxes with an outdoor water protector! Or get the angled sprayer heads that are for corners.
Hey Laura, Buy a rolling AC unit for your flower shed. Then if you want to arrange cut flowers on a hot summer day, you'll have a cool space. I use one in my garden shed and it works perfectly.
Don't they have to be vented? Won't work with casement windows- no way to vent it.

The planters look beautiful Laura. I’m in Arkansas zone 7 and I have a white Gaura that’s in partial shade and it’s now in its 3rd season, so I’ve had good luck that it comes back every year. Can’t wait for a tour of your flower shed.
