@@shellytravels they could only do so much with the movie; they focused on Mr. Stevenson’s experience with Walter McMillan, only barely touching on the numerous other cases he worked on. The book is more detailed and all-inclusive, yet the movie does do a phenomenal job of portraying the struggles of this work and the people in the system and what they face as a result of bigotry and hatred, as well as the vitality of true justice and mercy and compassion. It doesn’t include everything, of course, though it drives home the message well

“Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; *I was in prison and you came to Me* .’ “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’”

Exactly. You don't often find smart, gentle and kind in the same person. So when you do, study it to become like that person. And don't let go of it, because you're in the presence of Grace.

Bryan Stevenson l watch your documentary it was very eye-opening. I truly enjoyed it! I also watch your movie. It made you cried of sadness and rejoice at the end of the movie. It's sad that much hasn't changed in this Society. It is scary sometimes for people of color. I pray that the Lord will protect us from Injustice.

Oh! Yes! He deserves that prize and more. He is an angel.... a liberator sent by God to set the captives free. Although I am a lawyer, too, Stevenson is liberating me with knowledge and inspiration for the work that must be done. He cannot so this important work alone either. We all have a duty to fight for justice and equality.

My son experienced a very similar 'pool story' in Copley-Fairlawn, suburb of Akron , Ohio. My son was invited by a White classmate, and his father for a birthday pool party at their home. I was so excited as my son. My son came back home quickly and said the mother told him to go home and he could back later. I called, spoke to the boy's father who was shocked his wife told my son to leave. He probably didn't realize his wife's racism. So, of course, I made a visit. She told me the girls felt uncomfortable, and before I could respond, my other son, Dude, age 6, with Down syndrome, suddenly jumped in the pool, fully clothed. The mother immediately jumped in, fully clothed to save him. Dude took care of it, nothing needed to be said.

Very grateful and thankful for Mr. Stevenson's dedication and service to this country, created with so many broken pieces with jaggered edges. A place with many good people, yet educated with violence above honor, justice, peace, and love. Yet it appears to be manifested that the best of the good shall eventually rise above greed and the petty.
