Hi Blake, great video! Got a question for you: I've spearfished only in the mediterranean sea where I'm from and I am considering giving it a shot in the Pacific. Any tips? Do you think it's feasible to give it a shot without a boat? Cheers!
Do you ever get North of SF bay? I haven't been out in two years and was wondering if you've noticed any changes (ab size, quantities) since they shut ab season down?
In this video I have a Riffe wetsuit. I also use a Mako suit occasionally. The Kelpy Green wetsuit is a JBL suit that my buddies are wearing. Im shooting a customized wooden gun, however If I were to recommend a gun I would say the Rob allen 70 CM for hunting this area. Cant go wrong.
Hey Blake! Love the video. Do you often use a stringer in the ocean? Or do you prefer to get fish out of the water quickly? I’m heading down to Monterey this weekend and want to refine my gear. Thank you!
Hey Colton. It depends how far away I am from the boat/float. If I am close I will string them in the water on the back of the boat. If I am further away from the boat (majority of the time) I just string them on my weight belt loop and keep them on there until I get back to the boat. Hope that helps!
Blake Mcfarland Thank you for the reply!!!! That’s good to hear! I don’t have a boat or a kayak, and was wondering how safe it was to have a fish hanging from my belt while finishing my diving/hunting. Sounds like I’ll be okay. I’ll be diving monastery this weekend, see you around!
Very cool! I would recommend bringing a float or boogie board. It can hold extra gear and you can string your fish on it when you are nearby. I use a boogie board when Im not on the kayak or boat. @@coltonfreemantle768

Hello Blake, would an 83cm length speargun be considered too much for this environment? Nice vid btw.
Have you seen any white shark out there ? What are the chances of an encounter ?
No I have never seen any... Small chances of seeing any, but there are sightings quite often.
What gun do you use? How do you like the one you’re using in the vid? Thanks
This video we used quite a few different guns. Pathos, Riffe and Rob allen.... Best bang for bunk in my opinion is Rob allen
buck
How deep down are you for these?

I have never been north of SF. I always wanted to go AB diving but never have due to the season closures.
Do you not see a lot of Sheephead around Monterey? Trying to figure out if I want to spearfish Monterey Bay or up around Fort Brag area.
Gotta go further south for them
How many meters deep brother this spot you diving?
anywhere from 20-60 ft.
Nice!
Hey man what gear are you using? Wetsuit wise? would love links

It is a sanctuary, but sanctuaries dont regulate fishing at all.
