I tried adding in some background music on this one. I don't think I like it. Thoughts?
Agreed
Not as good as no audio. But still great quality content sir
Needs more cowbell.
Not a fan of the music. I am a fan of the format with talking - lifting - talking - lifting tho.
Not a fan.
First heel lifters and now DL Bars, you really have joined the dark side.
Everything comes full circle
I do like the knurling situation (smooth section & how it feels in the hand). I guess I trained with a stiff bar for so long, that I was put off by the whip when using one at the gym a couple of weeks ago. Definitely whippier than my Rogue DL bar. Great review as always!
Def can be offputting!
During your set around the 2 minute mark you can see the bar band quite a bit before the plates leave the ground. I don't think I've actually seen that much whip before
Def a bendy bar!
I am so happy the main fed in Australia uses Texas deadlift bars in competition (20kg Eleiko/Equivalent for squat and bench out of a combo). Deadlift Bars are just so good to use!
I actually prefer feds that use one bar for all 3 lifts!
Some clean sounds on those plates loading and clanging. I would get the kabuki bar if it ever got stocked in Australia. Rogue one feels nice with the diameter. I just don’t lift heavy enough the get much whip 🥲
Same!
Can we collectively put the pressure on Capps to start doing stainless bars? I emailed them and they said they had no plans.
It took them years to even do 29mm. It might be another decade before we see stainless.
Those are just the nicest over the top plates I’ve ever seen 👀
😅
I have the Kabuki in raw and the Rep Hades (black Cerakote only).
The Kabuki wins on flex, knurl feel, grip, and appearance, but it's clank-y as you mention with the sleeve tolerances.
The Rep bar feels solid and is quiet. The knurl is finer and therefore less deep; I think less grip. The matte black Cerakote makes it more difficult to see the detail and line up my hands.
I find the main motivation to pay extra for Kabuki (even during sales) is the knurling.
appreciate the feedback. have not used the REP
I haven't noticed any defects on the Kabuki DL bar at my gym, but I'm not crazy about it. Just with how I pull, I like to feel the weight moving sooner. The knurling does feel really good though (I'm not sure what the finish is, but we got it before it all went black oxide).
Def takes some getting used to!
Took 205kg for 10@10 with the Kabuki on a trip a few weeks ago. It was definitely different coming back to a 29mm B&R, even with pound plates!
Dang a set of 10@10? No thank you lol.
@@BasementBrandon It was an amrap competition with 205kg, so..... This sort of thing happens less than once a year.
Man.....that bar makes my StrongArm deadlift bar look like a stiff bar 😂
Pro music!
I like to watch those video... But I'm very happy with my strongarm... That thing is baresteel and I can't make it rust!
My old strongarm was pretty solid!
@@BasementBrandon bought it because of your video! That was before when we only had the Texas and the Rogue. But since I live in Canada, the Texas was super expensive (damn border) and I finally got the Strongarm (Mike is super nice too).
For the price, it's a damn solid bar and it's just do want to rust!
Another benefit of the shorter knurling past the ring marks is for band pegs. The knurling won’t wear the bands out if you use them in your training. You already sold me on the Texas DL bar, no going back 😈
Good call
I am planning to get a ssb, earlier it was black oxide but now company js saying it's coated with black HC now ( something like e coat or hard coat). Will the new coating be better than oxide in terms of rust resistance and scratches
Which company are we talking about?
@@BasementBrandon it's a Indian brand - Bullrock Fitness
I would love a deadlift bar, but whenever a little bit of money becomes available, I can never justify it. But, they sure do look appealing. A SS American Barbell DL bar sounds amazing. That price is not so amazing.
Yeah tough one to swallow!
I love my Kabuki products, but the rebrand feels odd and it's recently come to my attention that Chris is said to have some... alternative beliefs.
Yeah doesn't really gel with me.
These are the droids we’re looking for
👋
I've been eyeing this one. Not totally happy with my Rogue DL bar.
Rogue is good if you get it out of the boneyard for like $200. Otherwise it has the least whip of the major brands.
@@BasementBrandon Yeah, not very much whip at all.
For a moment I thought it was a Hansu colored chromes review lol 😂
Maybe one day
Yeah, definitely helps keeping it in a climate controlled basement because I had a kabuki black oxide and it was a rust bucket in Tennessee
Chalk one up for the basement!
Not a fan of the music while you’re talking. Ok when you’re lifting. If you were ever inclined to try try the REP DL bar and do a review I’d love to see that. And of course same with the AB DL bar when it comes out.
BTW, did you get a camera upgrade recently? You almost look extra high def now, lol.
Maybe I'll bring in the REP squat and DL bars. This camera has been in use for about 6 months now i think?
Brandon. Sumo deadlift when? Make that bar really work.
I learned to DL sumo. However right now my hips couldn't handle it.
Awesome review as usual. Every chance I get to have a decent look at your gym, I am taking it. Chris Duffin is an absolute legend in all sense of the word - I am assuming he is one of the major owners of Kabuki these days. A few years ago I was listening to his background as a kid and the conditions he grew up in. He is the American dream in one package and seems to be a really lovely guy as well. We need to clone this dude.
😂
appreciate the kind words!
Nice review! Personally I’m here for the content, not the music/ambiance. Other opinions are just as valid as mine though!
Thanks for the feedback!
@@BasementBrandon Just keep it coming! I appreciate that you have a different approach than Gluck and GGR; you and they provide variety while most of the other reviewers seem to be clones of the approach of you three.
Meh, I got my Texas DL bar and I'm good. I think this arms race to make the ultimate bendy noodle bar is getting a bit ridiculous.
Kind of like the knee sleeve race
Deadlift bar? You know those aren’t USAPL approved 😂. Music is good btw.
😅
Try lowering and changing the music. Was too loud while you were talking. Wasn’t a fan of the music choice generally, but was nice while you weren’t talking
Thanks
