- USPA Absolute Altitude State Record for Illinois claimed.
On Tuesday, 20 September 2022, skydivers Ed Conway, Dr. Bill Helvey, and Thomas Oquinns, jumped from the West Tennessee Skydiving Cheyenne 400, piloted by Mike Mullins with Paul Gholson as Oxygen Jumpmaster, from an altitude of 41,000' over the Carmi Municipal Airport, Carmi, IL.
Exit altitude temperature was -57C, winds at altitude were 65 mph. The jump went very well, all jumpers landed on target, only glitch was Bill Helvey had a malfunction, but his cutaway canopy landed in the middle of the ramp, right in front of the staging area.
This record will be submitted to USPA for official recognition.
We are looking to set the Florida state record next, anyone interested?

Special Thanks to CAOS SUITS for making me a suit that fly's great and kept me warm!!!!!!!!!
Insane bro, congratulations.
Freaking amazing
Definitely puts my 30k to shame. Awesome
SICK! I want a go.
Hi! Whats the oxygen system you use?
I wanna do this so much
That first 10k goes quick!….also I don’t think 4 altimeters is enough and definitely not enough go pros considering one of them wasn’t on.
bel lancio fratello
Cant imagine how freaking cold it is up there!
It is colder than Antarctica winter
What's minus 57 degrees Celsius in degrees fahrenheit? It's damn cold, there's your conversion...
Where did you complete this jump?
Carmi municipal airport in Carmi Illinois
Why are you wearing 2 altimeters?
1:09 is when he jumps
You looked really uncomfortable based on your facial expression for especially the first few minutes of the freefall. Was it the bitter cold that was causing such a facial expression? I'm just genuinely curious. It would've been a bone chilling -69° F when you first exited the plane.
His face looks normal to me, given the circumstances. He is wearing an oxygen mask after all. Are you projecting?
The cold does not have enough time to freeze you in 2 minutes.
@@user-bn9xy2on8i I'm not projecting anything. Perhaps you're right about the mask just distorting his natural facial expression.
