I wanted to tell you how much this video has meant to us. My husband learned how to make these so well! He shows them off to guest who come to visit all the time and they love them! My brother in law has cancer and on his last days. We went to see him for the last time and talked about these potatoes and he wanted to taste them so bad, we made them for him. He could hardly eat them but he tried his best and he loved them! He had not eaten anything for days but he ate that potato. It was a good memory for all of us. We told him about your video and how we learned to make them and I promised I would make a comment and tell the story. Thanks for the memories from our dear brother in law and his brother.

Kent, As a form United States Marine, (1967-1973), I just wanted to thank you for remember Vets and Active Duty Members of the Armed Forces. We aren't often remembered anymore. It means a lot. As for the potatoes, holy smokes man. Best Taters I've ever had. Right after I take mine out of the oven and cut the X and open them up, I add a hunk of butter and then a couple of scoops of some pre-mixed sour cream with shredded cheddar cheese, scallions, bacon pieces/bits and chopped cilantro if I'm feeling crazy, all mixed together as a spread and boy I'm in hog heaven. Thanks so much for sharing your recipe(s). Everything you show us how to make is Deelish. God Bless and keep the recipes coming ! SemperFiGuy, West Central Florida.

Nothing like a hot baked potato on a cold evening (well maybe a nice bowl of chili or chili on a potato)

I don't recall how I found your channel but I am certainly glad I did. Your attitude is positive and the content is amusing and educational. Kent you are so authentic. Thank you for being a beacon of light especially at this time of change for so many. I am making taters now - your technique is simple but sometimes the simplest way is the best way. Thank you and keep up the great work.

@@codent Yes, Granny had boiled potatoes every night. They were a staple at her table. On special occasions she would bake the potatoes and she used this method. Granny was born in County Cork in 1888. When she would go into her Irish brogue we knew Gramps was in trouble. My mother could curse in fluent Gaelic. When she started that we knew to walk softly.
