Cairo, Egypt - I can’t tell you how excited I am to be in Egypt. After 27+ hours of flying from San Diego to Egypt, we made it to our hotel in Giza, Egypt; with an amazing view of the Pyramids.
► Giza Pyramids Hotel: Guardian Guest House
We’re so anxious to get started, that the Great Pyramids of Giza gates aren’t even open yet. The sign at the Pyramids gate says 7am.. but that’s just a reference point. At about 7:45 the doors open, we buy a ticket, and get passed the Egyptian guard dogs.
Before the Pyramid tour buses show up for the day, we literally have the entire great Pyramids of Giza all to ourselves, if only for a fleeting moment.
► Egyptian Pyramids Guide: Amun Tours (www.amuntours.com)
9:00am - All the Pyramid Tours file into the massive Giza complex, and we meet up with our guide. I was very happy to have a guide for the pyramids because there is SOOO much information here!
I paid for an extra ticket to go inside Khufu's pyramid; the largest pyramid of Giza. Truthfully, there really isn’t much to see inside. It’s a long tunnel makeshift stairway leading up to one small room.
But it’s the idea... The understanding of how significant the Pyramid once was, and the realization of the Egyptian footsteps you’re walking in. For nearly 4,000 years, Kufu’s tomb was the tallest building in the world. Originally 480 feet tall, but now sits around 450 feet because of erosion.
My biggest takeaway from this morning’s visit to the Pyramids of Egypt are how mysterious this place still is. The majority of the complex is still uncovered. You gotta think there’s still so much under all of these surrounding rock and sand mounds. Scientists are still excavating, digging, and trying to put the pieces together.
The Great Pyramids of Giza are absolutely fascinating, and if you’re watching this Egypt Travel Vlog for inspiration - here’s me telling you to make the trip happen. You won’t regret it.
We finish my first day in Egypt with a trip to one of the best restaurants in Cairo (Giza side actually); El Prince Restaurant. Egyptian people love the traditional Egyptian food here, and I had no clue what I was getting into!
Our local Egyptian friend Ziad sets us up with all the Egyptian food staples such as, Molokhia (green soup), Kebda (liver), Sogo (mini sausages), and Hawawshi (seasoned beef patties in a pita).
and Ziad’s personal favorite, thinly sliced steak, quickly seared and tossed in garlic tomatoes and onions.
I don’t want to get ahead of myself, drunk off all the excitement of my first Egyptian food, but if this is any indication of how we’ll be eating here in Egypt over the next two weeks, I’ll be a very happy man. Stay tuned for more!!
I hope you enjoyed this episode! ❤️ If so, please hit that "👍" button, and leave a comment!

and if u did , did u have the wonderful time u dreamed about ? I hope u enjoyed the food , the monuments , met some good people n had a taste of the egyptian culture n history.
If u didnt have a good time I'm really sorry !!! Our economy just took a sudden dive so people are having it a little bit too hard n this can affect everything ; on the bright side u must have saved a lot off the trip due to the currency difference 😅

I've lived in Cairo for a while, El Prince is my favorite restaurant in all of Egypt but during the last few days I have seen a video series on another channel that was so incredibly negative and they even told people not to come to Egypt. Yes, Egypt has its downsides, just like any other country in the world, but the hospitality is second to none and the food is amazing, the culture is fascinating, there is so much to see. The absolute THRILL to look out onto the pyramids ….just an experience you can’t describe. The tour company we used was OUTSTANDING! Our guide was an Egyptologist… we got time inside the Giza pyramid alone for 2 hrs…. The food, the PEOPLE..just felt a coming home I haven’t felt anywhere else….but it was unexpected. I felt CALLED there, I didn’t “want” to go….but oh my heart when I arrived. Just an Amazing country….so many MAGICAL places…Isis’s Temple, Aswan, cruise on the Nile, I could go back 50 times. We ended our trip on scuba diving the Red Sea. Just a purely Magical journey. Thanks for taking me back !!!!

I got emotional with the homeless situation and the stray animals. I tell my fellow Americans to count their blessings

Yes, unfortunately traveling the world opens your eyes to many difficult situations, but it also gives you a ton of gratitude and perspective. 🙏

Love this video. When I was 5/6 we had a few picture book encyclopedias of ancient Egypt and I fell in love. You are blessed to have been here. Cheers.❤

Gareth, 1st time viewer and I have to say I am very impressed with your videos!! Wow, seeing the pyramids and sphinx up close and personal like this made me feel like I was right there with you experiencing it for the first time. Truly amazing! And like you said, you don't realize their size until you see them for yourself!!

I really enjoyed this video; made me miss Egypt even more. :) 23:23 is Queen Nefertiti, not Queen Cleopatra. Stay safe.
