I think if you compare base game maps, armor styles, etc. to more recent maps and armor styles, mobs, you'll see what could be considered a graphical update. I remember walking around Galen I believe and just realizing these areas look like a different game coming out of Stonefall. And going through the outfit styles throughout time the difference is so clear. I fully believe the high fidelity chase turns games into visual muck and ultimately date games. Timelessness when it comes to graphics will only be achieved by strong deliberate stylistic choices, and higher fidelity, well, is just higher fidelity. Throwing on reshade and seeing the difference it makes I think really taps in and helps show that graphics often don't need an update in fidelity, but rather need an update in basically everything else.
Is this post Morrowind? That's the only expansion I played and whereas I think it's gorgeous from an artstyle and scenic perspective, I did feel like it lacked in graphics/foliage etc.
New player. Got to 400 CP in one week and love this shit. NGL it's WAY better than New World and that's the only other MMO I've ever played. This shit is BUSSIN'. It runs better and looks better than any other MMO imo. I think better latency with PVP, dodging, etc would eb a good improvement but it doesn't NEED it.
ESO looks better than most MMO's especially the new content, I would love a WoW 2.0 that game is long overdue, but ESO isn't too bad. It would be nice to have better shaders and high end 4k textures in ESO which would improve the visuals 10-fold. It should be opted in especially for 4k textures thou just like we do for most other visuals on PC. There are lots that can be done on the DirectX side of things that we don't currently use to improve visuals and ESO should target that easy stuff first. Things like models and animation would take a considerable amount of more time and resources so I'd prefer they don't do that, smarter changes not harder.
Given that they've actually decided that the updates to base game armor styles are new armor styles in of themselves, I don't see how they would reconcile that with a blanket update. If they released the ancestral motifs just to update the base armor styles to the same quality, that would be kinda weird. That said, I'm in favor of it, and I remember they did do something similar when Thieves Guild was released and the base game Dromathra were redesigned to match the ones from Maw of Lorkhaj.
Definitely needs one. Armors need to be more 3 dimensional. Most armors look like textures placed on the player model instead of real proper armor, which even WoW does and it looks great. The armor doesnt need realistic detail. But we finally need logical graphical changes. ESO looks bland if you play over 2 hours. And it looks worse than WoW as of now.
The graphics in general are fine especially the new zones. What ESO really needs are cloth physics, more and better animations and yes much less jankiness!
All good points. Realistically, I’d be content with a retexture of vanilla zones. If I’m being greedy, I’d like an overhaul of Eastmarch, so it looks faithful to its Skyrim version (like Western Skyrim). Also, both Eastmarch & The Rift should get a skybox upgrade like Western Skyrim. And if I’m being really greedy, each zone should have unique architecture, specifically, the High Rock zones. Last, I think Mournhold should get to look as cool as Necrom. If they did all that, I’d be sooooooo happy!
I think it needs an engine update. Or a major server update. That's all. Graphics would be nice. Characters not looking like they are made of rubber would be awesome. But server upgrades to where full destructibility that was introduced in Cyrodil could be brought back.
I just need them to work on how horrendous the sun light is, mostly in base game zones. You'll notice how dramatically better looking everything is when it's shaded or not sunny at all. Day time exposes all the ancient half worked textures.
Eso has quite pleasing graphics to be honest even when comparing against newer mmorpg games. Of course many animations could be reworked and spells enhanced on a same level they are now with arcanist that looks visually really good. The nature could be made more lively also, trees moving in the wind, more movement on a ground level, ability to dive underwater and they could add some more content that takes place underwater. But I am quite happy as what the game is now. I am sure we will see some improvements in the coming years but that is not on the top of "to do list". If you compare ESO that was released in 2014 to new world that was released 2021 the graphical difference is very minimal.
I would love to have ray tracing, but in all honesty I would much prefer to see any old character/creature models updated to match their expansion or mount/pet counterpart for example werewolves by this point should be given the same kind of quality visual overhaul as the behemoth werewolves.
Final Fantasy XIV is a good comparison for ESO, since they're not only both about the same age, they both also exist on consoles and PC at the same time. And FFXIV is getting a graphical update on its next expansion while still not dropping the support for older consoles, so I don't see why ESO couldn't have one. Although that comes with a caveat that FFXIV was originally released to support also the PS3, so I'd say that game needs a graphical upodate a lot more than ESO. Wouldn't mind seeing updates on ESO either, though. Especially in the animation department. I can't believe we still have the absolutely silly sprinting animation.
As far as graphical changes I want to see: Get rid of the bendy plastic look on some armor. I actually haven’t seen it in a while but I remember seeing it on my tank in certain animations. The floating shoulder pieces are annoying. Clipping of hair styles and various armors. And yeah. I wouldn’t mind seeing higher details in the environments/animations ect. Still looks good the way it is. You know how Path of exile underwent a path of exile 2 re-build? I bet within the next 5ish years ZOS will have a ESO 2.0.
What really concerns me is the Hard Drive Space required to keep this game on your computer for a couple of years more. Now it's 123 GB. I don't know other MMO's but this could be a problem in a medium to long term and could affect ESO's population. Of course it needs a little graphical improvement and better animations but that means more HDD space
Graphics are not something I've really cared about because I do love the style already. I'm sure I'd notice the difference between a Telvanni and Deshaan, but it all just feels like ESO to me at this point. I get extremely immersed in the world that no matter what zone I'm exploring I'll still get lost in it. Wouldn't mind an overhaul to bring it up to 2024 standards, but wouldn't care either way. - and hope it doesn't lose it's charm if it were the case. Combat overall does feel good to me as well, but it is definitely noticeable that the Arcanist has a distinct style and smoother animations. I'd just like to see a more class identity for all classes, and gear that supports that. Itemization always felt odd to me that basically all of my stam and mag characters will more or less use the same gear if I were to meta-chase with them. Class-specific gear would be a cool addition, or spellcrafting to modify certain skills and open up build variety. Feel like weapon skill lines have too much priority over class skills atm. Also maybe some other goal for master crafters to hit where crafted gear could be competitive with trial gear etc would be interesting.
There are some abilities that definitely should get an visual upgrade, for example DK spiked armor looks really rough when you look closer. The game itself looks really good imo, atleast with a reshade.
One thing other than better graphics with upgrading their minimum hardware requirements is expanded capabilities like housing. It's been held back too long because of those running potato PC's and consoles.
Fuck the graphics . They need better gameplay features. They need to make the game feel more like Skyrim . It feels too stale sometimes , I gotta play it high asf to enjoy it tbh
My only gripe with eso graphics is how dull-esque everything looks. It's not the textures nor the environments, it's more the lighting that is just meh and lacking in vibrancy. Honestly all eso needs is a small lighting overhul to make it a bit more vibrant and whimsical, but just small.
Visually ESO is amazing and holds up really well. Some base game textures could use some attention but other than that I love the aesthetic. What ESO needs is a *mechanical* update, and a change in the business model. Tired of how messed up the lore continuity is, tired of how piecemeal the content is, how there’s little to no sense of progression - you just do the same daily shit and never really get stronger or feel like you’ve made a difference in the game world. Most of all I hate the aggressive monetization. 12 character limit, only 2 outfit slots, 2 armory build saves, basic ass features that come standard in other MMOs we have to pay extra for. Then you have all the QoL bonuses that make the “optional” subscription pretty much mandatory for any serious player. 90% of the cosmetic stuff like mounts, pets, outfits are all locked up in the shop or worse, locked behind loot boxes.
Short answer would be no if you ask me but the long answer would be that no ESO doesn't need a graphical update but there could be great benefit by basically trying to essentially Port over everything you can to a better engine like unreal 5 and basically just recreate the entirety of eso in a newer engine adding in specific add-ons like the TTC as base game thing so that way we don't even need to worry about whether we can or cannot use add-ons they will probably mean the TTC would need to be either replaced by a ZOS owned site so that they can then connect it directly to ESO or some extra work is going to have to go in to get the TTC linked to the new remastered because full stop there isn't much more Improvement that can be done for the current ESO we have Graphics wise and we all no just how bad it is as it stands right now to the point that. They need to just upgrade to a new engine with unreal 5 will be the best way to not just recreate what we have but drastically and completely improve the layer of all the maps far quicker using the nanite technology that ashes of creation uses and if they want, they could even use procedural generation first specific assets terrain deformation or just Terrain in general especially since all the textures and assets would be a part of the land and they could even take advantage of AI voicing to then get around having to rehire people to either recast or just reusing the old ones and could actually give every character their own unique voice which would help with immersion and make a remastered version a billion times better and then they could just carry over all the Cosmetics we currently have and give anyone who goes over to the remastered from the original ESO access to any Cosmetics their character had by essentially just letting them use their account
Honestly I would fucking kill and honestly pay 40 to $60 or even $70 to $100 for a remastered done in a new engine even if it was literally a one-for-one everything was just copied over and everything was just completely remade with any quality of life updates usually just being things like adding add-ons as actual parts of the base game like Harvest maps for example but legit that is the only way we'd ever actually see a graphical update Improvement
Is this guy sponsored by ZOS? becouse Iv seen there types before and theres nothing any of us will say that will make him think that ZOS isnt the best of the best. As soon as I see someone is sponsored by ZOS I know I cant listen to them. I havnt seen that on hear but I havnt looked either.
Does it NEED one? Nah, maybe in the base game zones sure. Would I WELCOME one? Duh. What do yall think?
older zones, sorc pets etc could do with a overhaul
Sorc pets need a “visible to other players in town” toggle 😂
I think if you compare base game maps, armor styles, etc. to more recent maps and armor styles, mobs, you'll see what could be considered a graphical update. ESO would get a massive return of players if they revamp and remaster original zones and first dlc zones like wrothgar.
I actually like the graphics of ESO, I don't think it needs to be improved. I'd not complain if it did, but I like it the way it is.
I just want the blocking animation shield thing to be customizable or different for different classes
New player. Got to 400 CP in one week and love this shit. NGL it's WAY better than New World and that's the only other MMO I've ever played. This shit is BUSSIN'. I find a lot of charm to the papery inconsistence of the graphics, but would be totally down for an overhaul as long as it's all visual.
I think it needs an engine update. Or a major server update. That's all. Graphics would be nice. Characters not looking like they are made of rubber would be awesome. But server upgrades to where full destructibility that was introduced in Cyrodil could be brought back.

No. Its just the old zones that need to be updated. New sones always look great
Yes please

It needs one for a lot of the older content, they did something some months for PS5, but my biggest gripe is we need a much better PHOTOMODE!!
One thing other than better graphics with upgrading their minimum hardware requirements is expanded capabilities like housing. It's been held back too long because of those running potato PC's and consoles.
i just wanna see some of the older armors get an update. like the argonian armor looks like PS2 lvl graphics
I have been wanting one for the base game zones but it's too much work so it'll never happen. High Isle looks so much better than Glenumbra.
Every mmo on the current market that’s come out before 2020 needs a graphics update.
I think base game needs them. The difference between base game and new dlc zones is so disorienting
Fuck the graphics . They need better gameplay features. They need to make the game feel more like Skyrim . It feels too stale sometimes , I gotta play it high asf to enjoy it tbh
My question is would it be easy to do?
Depends on scale honestly. I’m also not a developer so I can’t say, but I’d assume yes
My only gripe with eso graphics is how dull-esque everything looks. It's not the textures nor the environments, it's more the lighting that is just meh and lacking in vibrancy.

Yes it does need it, and so does Guild Wars 2 for that matter.
Yes it does. Badly… even ffxiv has better graphics
Game is based on xbox 360 hardware no way in fuck can they even touch the base code without breaking everything
with games like bdo, hell even conan exiles... why not update the graphics
add a remastered option like bdo simple
Combat update instead of a graphic update
character models need upgrade.
eso needs more pvp updates. theres enough pve bs in the game.

I’ll stick with the short answer 💀
@@C_A_I_N_Nunironically same
Dude just said it...its a 2014 game lol...YES IT NEEDS A GRAPHICAL UPDATE,MORE LIKE AN OVERHAUL.
