  • Well I finally did it! I pulled the trigger and bought a car lift for the new shop. In this video, I'll show you how I installed it with help from my pops, and hopefully we'll have project Overlander up on it soon!

    Correction at 7:42 you say *not* to drill completely through the slab, however it is actually *recommended* that you do. Most of the lift manufacturers recommend this or at least explicitly allow it. They do warn of holes that are not drilled deep enough, never bottom out the anchor bolts. Even Atlas "recommends" drilling through the slab entirely (Atlas 9KOH 2-post lift).

  • @davecaselli1957

    I do not have a lift and have not installed one, but a piece of advice I HAVE seen IS to bore the anchor holes all the way through the slab. That way, when (if) you remove it you can drive the anchors down through the bottom.

    Nice work Tyler! I'm with you, getting too old to lay on the ground in the cold! I finally got heat in my shop and next I want to install a 2 post lift. I have the location figured out, but will have to cathedral the ceiling in my shop to clear the lift. It was good to see the basic assembly process here. Another great Bleepin Jeep video.

    The only thing to consider when synchronizing the locks is when they are just a tad off it makes it easier to hear a positive lock as opposed to wondering if they both locked or not.regardless you should set the vehicles down on the locks by manually lowering them down.

    A couple of tips here:
    1. Always install the manufacturers recommended anchors and make sure they are in at least to the minimum recommended embedment depth
    2. I think it's better to have the safety latches clicking slightly out of sequence. By doing this you will hear both latches clicking separately and therefore know they have engaged properly.

    Why are your anchor bolts pulled up so high? A loft needs at minimum four and a half inches of anchor bolt embedment and looking at your anchors they are pulled up past the nut by atleast an inch and a half and then you add in a half inch of base plate so you have two inches of anchor sticking up out of the concrete, I hope your anchor bolts were atleast 8 inches long because if they were only 5 inches then that lift was not installed properly

  • @lhurst9550
    @lhurst9550 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    7:45 Is some bad advice. Drill all the way through the slab. This is so you get an entire bite of the depth of the slab, not just part of it and thereby weakening the anchor point. Also, if you do happen to mess up an anchor you can pound it all the way into the earth and insert a new anchor. Drill all the way through the slab, put on nut so top of nut and top of anchor are even, pound all the way down, tightened to suggested torque value. If the wedge is on the underside of the concrete then you have all the strength of the concrete you are going to get.

    I wish I would have known you were looking at the Atlis lifts. I have 2 of them one post and one 12k lb alignment lift. Worst purchase ever. I had to replace all the cylinders within 3 years not rebuild. The tubes where crap metal pitted and machined to large on the bore. Also found cracks on the ram. The 12k lb lift would only lift 8k lb. The powder coating if that's what you want call it started peeling the first year. These lifts are NOT certified. I would recommend loosening up those bolts and putting some spacers in get the metal up off of the floor especially if you plan on washing the floor or putting cars on the lift that are covered in road salt. Spend the money on a good brand name Rotary, Bentpac anything certified. Remember your standing under that car that's on that lift.

    I think you shouldve cut the floor and poured at least a 36" to 48" deep footing for that thing. Also drop all tread as deep for your anchors. If you got any unbalance when lifting. all you got is 4" of concrete that has been weakened by drilling the anchors being acted upon by that 12' leverage arm of an upright and whatever weight you got on it. Reinforce that mother. I dont want to see you die!
